Zdravkovi? Jasmina,Markovi? ?ivoslav,Zdravkovi? Milan,Mijatovi? Mirjana
Genetika , 2012, DOI: 10.2298/gensr1203701z
Abstract: In order to find a superdominant gene for yield, a collection of 350 samples with genes mutations and different expression in different phases of growth and development: fruit size, leaf shape, plant architecture, number of fruits, etc., has been studied (through multi-year research). Current seed production at the Institute for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka includes 26 hybrids and two in acceptation process, of different purposes and characteristics. The most common mutation genes in tomato selection at the Institute are: sp (self-pruning) inbuilt in determinant hybrids (Balkan F1, Marko F1, Rebus F1) and varieties (Narvik SPF, SP-109, Adonis), u (uniform ripening) - Lido F1, Atina F1, Danubius F1, rin (ripening inhibitor)- Nada F1, ampion F1, Sef F1, Sidra F1, Rebus F1, j (jointless) - Narvik, Adonis, SP-109, c (potato leaf) - Mi-13, Enigma F1, Rebus F1, Ph -2 (Phytophtora infestans resistance) - Luna F1, Zlatni jubilej F1, Sef F1. Quality of tomato fruits is defined by two groups of genes which determinate the organoleptic traits and nutrition composition. Organoleptic quality includes taste and smell, colour and texture of fruits established in variety differences, nutritive regime of plants, maturity phase and yield. Little is known about gene regulation, responsible for variation of these traits.
Senescence of rin, rin/rin, rin/+ and +/+ tomato fruits
Zdravkovi? Jasmina,Markovi? ?ivoslav,Stankovi? Ljiljana,Zdravkovi? Milan
Genetika , 2004, DOI: 10.2298/gensr0403195z
Abstract: Ripening inhibitor (rin) gene is a spontaneous recessive mutant which changes fruit ripening aspects (most important synthesis of carotene, especially lycopene). It also delays fruit senescence. Tomato is a vegetable crop with specific maturing climax (pik). Tomato genotypes homozygote for rin gene does not have this maturing climax, so the ethyl-ene production and red, lycopene colour does not appear. In order to research the maturing process material from the final tomato selection cycle we used: pure line S-49 (genetic constitution u/u, with uniform ripening), line hom 4 (rin/rin, homozygote with ripening inhibitor) and hybrid combination 449 Fl (u/rin, heterozygote for ripening inhibitor). Fruits with uniform ripening and hybrids ripened simultaneously, while homozygote with rin gene did not ripe at all. Ethylene stimulates the appearance of yellow colour in rin fruits and the lycopene production. After treatment with ETEPHONE (0.1%) (Ethylene) fruits with uniform ripening, senescence more quickly, while hybrids senescence slowly. Rin homozygotes did not change colors, but the fruits senescence more quickly comparing to control. Ethylene treatment speeded the maturing and senescence process in tomato fruits. Extended maturing process as a result influence of rin gene, makes the new created hybrids a late maturing ones. On the other hand, the firmness of fruits is improved as well as the "shelf life", which enables longer transportation and storing, coordinated maturing according to market demands. The aim was to research the maturing according to market demands. The aim was to research the maturing process of rin heteroyzgote, and the reaction of some genotypes to treatment with RT-REL (Ethzlene) in order to decrease extremely late maturing.
The expression of tin gene in prolongated tomato fruit ripening - Lycopersicom esculentum Mill.

Genetika , 2003, DOI: 10.2298/gensr0302077z
Abstract: Tomato selection programme, aiming to create a tomato hybrid with better fruit firmness, has been based on adding rin gene in perspective selection material. The fruit firmness has been based on decelerated ripening which prolongs the shelf life. Heterozygote genotypes (rin/+) have considerably longer shelf life that genotypes with uniform ripening (+/+). The effects of rin gene on shelf life have been examined on four experimental hybrids (K 56S K - 18, K - 64 and K -15 - rin/+ genetic configuration) compared with Atina Fl genotype (uniform ripening +/+) K - 91 selected, line (rin/rin) and Fino F1 (DRS) unknown genetic construction and very good fruit firmness. The parameter for shelf life has been the fruit weight loss during the preservation - from harvest till the fading. The weight loss has been recorded every 7th day during two months. The experimental hybrids showed good agro technical characteristics of mid early tomato intended for production in the open field. During the shelf life, the genotype K - 15 faded the most slowly, both in the group of green and mature fruits.
Cervical acid phosphatase: A new biomarker of cervical dysplasia
Markovi? Olivera,Markovi? Nenad
Archive of Oncology , 2003, DOI: 10.2298/aoo0304243m
Abstract: BACKGROUND: Cervical acid phosphatase (CAP) has recently been described as a biomarker labeling abnormal squamous cells on Pap smears (USPTO #6,143,512). The enzyme activity is presented as a red, granular deposit on a modified Papanicolaou background. This unique property was utilized for development of a test and tools intended for cervical cancer screening. METHODS: We conducted a multicenter, random assignment, assessor blinded, 2-group (test and control), and split-sample design clinical trial on 1,500 subject/specimens to assess safety and efficacy of the new test in comparison with the control for cervical cancer screening in standard Pap test environment. Safety was measured with frequency, severity and relation of adverse events. Efficacy was measured with primary endpoints (portion of positive/abnormal specimens detected, and the false negative rate), and with accuracy (sensitivity/specificity) and predictive values as secondary efficacy endpoints. RESULTS: In March 2003, the recruitment was completed and the first thousand cases were evaluated. There were no serious or related adverse events in both groups. Minor, unrelated adverse events were rare and insignificantly distributed in both groups. Primary endpoints: A Portion of positive/abnormal specimens detected: Pe (new test) = 0.17, Ps (pap test): 0.082; Ps' (American standard): 0.07. Pe >=Ps + beta, for beta = 0.5Ps. B. False negative rate: Pe = 0.05, Ps' = 0.10. Test sensitivity 0.81, specificity: 0.97, PPV: 0.83, NPV: 0.96. Chi-square between test and controls 40.69101 was greater than the critical value of 3.841 (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: We concluded that CAP had added to visibility of Pap test and has enabled cytoscreeners to significantly improve detection of positive/abnormal specimens and reduce false negative rate.
Social aspects of ethnic conflicts in Temerin
Markovi? Aleksandra
Sociologija , 2013, DOI: 10.2298/soc1301069m
Abstract: Ethnic tensions and conflicts in Temerin, a town located close to the capital of Vojvodina, Novi Sad, have attracted the attention of both the Serbian public and the public of Hungarian national minority in Vojvodina. The paper relates ethnic conflicts in Temerin with non-ethnic social dimensions. Generally, the author tests modernisation theory, as an example of developmentalist theory, as well as interactionist and instrumentalist theories of ethnicity. Particularly, the paper provides corroboration test of the ethnic competition hypothesis, posed by Sarah Belanger and Maurice Pinard, which specifies conditions that transform ethnic competition into ethnic conflict. Finally, the study has revealed that material status has no influence on national intolerance. However, at the level of ethnic groups, the issues of public usage of language and positioning in the labour market are related to the ethnic conflicts in Temerin.
How to join the World Trade Organization: Some aspects of the accession process
Markovi? Ivan
Economic Annals , 2009, DOI: 10.2298/eka0980116m
Abstract: The World Trade Organization is the first international organization responsible for supervising global trade relations. It was established on January 1st 1995. The most important bodies of its organizational structure are the Ministerial Conference, the General Council and the Secretariat. It currently has 153 Members with many candidates involved in accession negotiations. Accession to the World Trade Organization is a highly organized process which can be divided into several steps or stages. The successful fulfillment of the conditions of one stage is the condition for movement to the next. Many challenges and opportunities are incorporated in that process and it is up to candidates for the Membership to find a way to face the challenges and use the opportunities.
The history of the Civic Library (Biblioteca Civica) in Koper

Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 2001,
Abstract: The history of the Civic Library (Biblioteca Civica) in Koper has not as yet been studied in depth. The only considerable research about its history was done by Miroslav Pahor. His work is based on some archivial foundations but most of his views and interpretations are incorrect. This new essay is the result of the analysis of all the existing archivial data and presents new facts that replace the existing knowledge. The Civic Library in Koper was founded in 1850, almost 30 years earlier than we thought. The library took up residence in the Gymnasium. Some results of the study relate to the last period of activity of the Civic Library during and after the end of the Second World War. The Civic Library functioned until 1952, when the new Civic Library was founded. Therefore, for a short period of time two civic libraries in Koper actually coexisted.

Abstract: One of the achievements of a modern state is the care for minorities. In Slovenia, there are two autochthon national communities, Italian and Hungarian. The article brings a short estimate on whether minority problems are adequatety regulated in Slovenian legislation and standards in the field of librarianship.Eventual failings and possibilities for their improvement are discussed.Ali statements, evaluations and considerations refer mostly to the area of Slovensko Primorje, respectively municipalities of Koper, Izola and Piran where members of Italian minority are living. However, general statements and proposed solutions can be applied wider on the territory of Slovenia.

Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 1997,
Abstract: The article presents the history and tradition of librarianship in the Primorska region. The oldest libraries - Italian municipal libraries - are referred to, followed by the description of Slovenian libraries in the period of reading societies after 1848. The development of libraries in the period between the wars is described.Attention is called to the restoration of the network of Slovenian libraries in the Primorska region after World War II; some Slovenian libraries were set up prior to the union of the region of Slovensko Primorje to the parent country. The article presents information on the number of libraries and on library materials in the studied periods.

Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 2001,
Abstract: The contribution presents the founding and the activities, through years 1950-53, of the Collection Centre for Libraries in Portoro . Some book collections from the deserted monasteries of the Koper and Buje districts are especially pointed out and their future pondered upon after the closing of the Collection Centre. From the surviving documentation it's possible to assume that the activity of the Collection Centre for Libraries in Portoro was positive but, unfortunately, after the closure of the Collection Centre, some book collections were lost.
