Medición del comercio intraindustrial no maquilador de México
Sotomayor, Maritza;
Investigación económica , 2009,
Abstract: the purpose of this article is to measure the bilateral intra-industry trade (iit) indices for the non-maquila industry of mexico in context of the north american free trade agreement (nafta) from 1994 to 2006. in this work we insist on the significance of differentiating the maquiladora component from external trade flows, since the maquila trade corresponds to an interchange of goods in different stages of production, while the iit has been analyzed and measured as the trade of goods that belong to the same stage of production. in addition, we estimate the marginal iit indices to verify whether nafta has supported two-way trade. in that analysis, we offer an adjusted estimation of these indices, also taking into account the differentiation regarding their horizontal and vertical nature. our results show that mexican bilateral trade has been mainly of a vertical nature and has been concentrated in a small number of industrial sectors. this makes the expected positive effects in a trade integration context questionable.
La construcción psicosocial del tiempo y el cambio social
Montero,Maritza;
Orientaci?3n y sociedad , 2000,
Abstract: this paper analyzes the psychosocial construction of the conceptions of time and social change, and their relation with the notion of progress set up by modernity as well as their contradictory aspects, considering their historicity as psychosocial and social phenomena. the social construction of the notion of time is discussed; it responds to social organization forms, thus turning the social changes into historical and temporal landmarks. the association between social changes and social movements is argued and the concept of progress is deconstructed. finally, the importance of the idea of movement in the construction of time, change and progress concepts is pointed out; it is also explained how modernity imbued such notions with direction and goals, in the direction of an arrow, according to the prevailing interests, while modeling them in its own image and likeness.
Fortalecimiento de la Ciudadanía y Transformación Social: área de Encuentro entre la Psicología Política y la Psicología Comunitaria
Montero,Maritza;
Psykhe (Santiago) , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22282010000200006
Abstract: this paper deals with the relationships between community psychology (cp) and political psychology (pp), focusing on the contributions of the former to pp and on aspects that are common to both branches of psychology. beginning with the idea of social transformation, present in both psychological subdisciplines and a central objective for latin american and anglo-saxon pc, the dynamic condition of transformation is argued. notions of power, strengthening, and empowerment are discussed, pointing out the symmetrical perspective of power generated in latin america, whose positive influence is demonstrated in communal transformations. other contributions are discussed, such as the ethical perspective and, related to it, the necessity of working in the sensitization of external agents as well as internal agents, the liberating perspective and the shared methodological tools used by pc and pp. it concludes by demonstrating the political condition of pc and its complementary relationship with pp.
Relaciones Entre Psicología Social Comunitaria, Psicología Crítica y Psicología de la Liberación: Una Respuesta Latinoamericana
Montero,Maritza;
Psykhe (Santiago) , 2004, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22282004000200002
Abstract: in this paper it is argued that community-social psychology; critical-social psychology and, social psychology of liberation configured a neo-paradigmatic (the two former being born in the seventies, the latter in the eighties) response to the problems and needs suffered by societies in latin america, expressed through mutual influences between the three movements. to reach this conclusion an analytical-comparative research was carried out in the latin american literature concerning the three areas, looking for the main characteristics identifying each one, for their similarities and their differences. the results show the influence between them, as well as similarities in sources, some objectives and concepts.

Las pasiones: interacción y retórica
Ceballos,Maritza;
Signo y Pensamiento , 2006,
Abstract: this article is a general introduction to the concepts from which the research study "passions: a cinematographic set-up" was carried out. in particular, the concept of passion is introduced from a current perspective whereby it is defined as a language, with its own cognitive and strategic logic. next, the author presents the methodology used for creating a model to analyze passions in cinema: the cinema as a system of representations and the staging of passions itself. the results of the analysis are then presented and, in the conclusions, new research possibilities are projected.
El fortalecimiento en la comunidad, sus dificultades y alcances
MONTERO,MARITZA;
Universitas Psychologica , 2009,
Abstract: in order to analyze the concept of strengthening and the factors that impair its achievement in the community psychosocial environment, a critical research by means of qualitative content analysis was performed on several types of research material produced by community work in caracas, venezuela, from 1999 to 2002. the analysis compared categories taken from the literature on the concept with those arising from the work with communities. results indicate that external and internal agents disagree within the internal factors, with regards to criteria, basic community concepts and the community work itself. exercise of power and excluding trends may generate tensions and conflict. the action of external influences is discussed and possible ways of resistance are presented.
Exposición ambiental y humana al mercurio en Venezuela: Período 2004-2008
Maritza Rojas
Salus Online , 2010,
Abstract: The purpose of this review was to document mercury (Hg) studies done in Venezuela, over a fiveyear period (2004-2008) using databases and thesis registered at the libraries of some Venezuelan Univeristies and research institutions. The total number of papers identified in the literature search was 24. From these, 10 were environmental studies; 7 human, 2 contained both aspects, 2 methodology work, and there were 2 reviews which discuss environmental as well as human issues. Four (16.6%) Human studies used questionnaires. Environmental papers included samples such as: REVISION BIBLIOGRAFICA Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, Escuela de Bioanálisis, Sede Valencia, Universidad de Carabobo y MRM-CONSULTOX. E mail: [email protected]: Noviembre 2009 Aprobado: Febrero 2010 Salus online 14-2 Agosto 2010 Estudios de mercurio en Venezuela p. 60 herbal products, crustacean, bacteria, algae, rocks and birds (1; 4,4% each); samples of soil/sediments and water (3; 12.4% each) and 2 studies used air and corals (2; 8.3%). Human samples used were: Hair (6; 25%); Urine (4; 16.6%); Blood (2; 8,3%) and saliva (1; 4.4%). Chemical species of Hg determined were: Inorganic (20; 83.2%) and Methyl-Hg (Me-Hg) (2; 8.3%). The technique most often used was Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption. THg-H values in human studies ranged from 0.36 to 186.4 μg/g (upper range was very much above the permissible limit reported by WHO -10 μg/g-). No significant relation was noted between Hg levels in biological samples and clinical symptoms. Signs/Symptoms more frequently reported were neurological. In spite of representing Venezuela similar areas in terms of Hg-produced environmental and human problems, the results showed high variability perhaps related to biological diversity, diet and individual susceptibility, among others. Therefore it is difficult to properly evaluate them in terms of comparability. A more in-depth exposure assessment and pidemiologic studies are still needed to characterize the Hg exposure risk in our country

Statutory protection for the water requirements of natural ecosystems
Maritza Uys
Koedoe : African Protected Area Conservation and Science , 1992, DOI: 10.4102/koedoe.v35i1.393
Abstract: A project was recently registered with the National Parks Board to investigate the need for legal protection of the water requirements of natural ecosystems and the existing legislation which provides such protection. There is a distinct lack of legal protection, which is identified and discussed in this paper. It is submitted that the current South African water law is outdated and in need of reform so as to accommodate the demands of a wider spectrum of user sectors. Since the amendment of the existing water allocation system (in a country where water is a scarce resource) could be politically a disconcerting step, it should be made only after due consideration of the various needs for water, the historical foundation of the existing system, and a study made of effective systems in countries with similar water problems. An in-depth study of the historical development of South African water law has already revealed interesting yet abrogated concepts, which can possibly serve as a means of protecting the natural water requirements.
