Salomone,Mariano;
Intersecciones en antropolog?-a , 2012,
Abstract: in mid 2007 three social organizations in mendoza started a common organizational process to defend the grounds of the former central station of the ferrocarril gral. san martín (general san martín railway) as a public space, currently abandoned after its closure. confronted with new projects of private investment, mainly related to real estate, these organizations united in common struggle under the slogans "no to the private use of public land" and "participative planning and management for the use of these lands". in this article the experience of one such collective--the railway collective--is reconstructed. the aim is to ascertain the viewpoint of the collective on the conflict, examining their experiences and historical memory to track the traditions and political practices that allowed them to shape the space as common property. territory has become one of the key areas of dispute; the process of spatialization of class struggle entails the progressive privatization of all things public and common, including territory. the notion of common property is essential in order to think from a counter-hegemonic perspective. hence, the importance of probing the railway workers' experiences and recognizing, in their praxis, the elements that allow us to carry out an against the grain reading of privatization and commoditization as the sole purpose of life.
SALOMONE,Mariano;
Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana , 2007,
Abstract: the following article, based on a review and critical analysis of sources and secondary bibliography, presents a reading of so-called cultural studies, indicating some of their weaknesses as theoretical-political thought. the analysis concentrates on the limits encountered regarding the way such studies conceive society: as a more or less random superposition of cultural fragments, speeches, etc. the assumed viewpoint, according to which ?it is the social being of man that determines his conscience,? makes it possible to note the historic and social conditions that have made the present forms of the cultural studies possible at the same time that it questions some of the present tendencies marked by the absence of dialectic and the totality category.

Grasselli,Fabiana; Salomone,Mariano;
Aisthesis , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-71812011000100009
Abstract: the works of rodolfo walsh are marked by a strong connection between an aesthetic and a political practice. in this work we propose to engage in the constellation of nonfiction texts written by the author in the 60s and 70s period. these texts pursue a conception of art as bearer of a certain ?danger? that is anchored to its enormous power to embody an intervention in historical and social reality. we analyze the way in which certain elements relate to each other: the criticism of a sacralization of bourgeois art, the strategies of writing (the montage), and the will to contribute to the reconstruction of a social memory that explains the historical experience of the working classes (their state of emergency, the political violence).
SECCIóN TEMáTICA - 4. LA PERSPECTIVA TEóRICO-METODOLóGICA DE LA SOCIOLOGíA CLíNICA // THE THEORIETICAL-METHODOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE CLINICAL SOCIOLOGY
Fabiana Grasseli,Mariano Salomone
Prisma Social , 2012,
La escritura testimonial en Rodolfo Walsh: politización del arte y experiencia histórica Non-fiction literature in Rodolfo Walsh: politicization of art and historical experience

Aisthesis , 2011,
Abstract:

Background: Although the majority of breast cancer patients are able to work, lower work ability and reduced job retention have been reported. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of chemotherapy with capecitabine in patients with breast cancer on work productivity and daily activity. Methods: 34 patients with metastatic breast cancer were enrolled for our study. Capecitabine was given twice daily at a cumulative dose of 2500 mg/m2 on days 1 - 14 and repeated on day 22. Work productivity was determined using the WPAI questionnaire. Results: We observed an increase in absenteeism, presenteeism, work productivity loss and daily activity impairment after 1 cycle and 6 cycles of therapy, but we could not find statistically different significances. Conclusions: This study provides some data indicating an association between problems in breast cancer and work. Our results confirm that capecitabine may improve quality of life of patients with metastatic breast cancer.

Abstract:

Background: The employment status of workers with cancer has important implications for impairment of intimate and family relationships and for economic, social and psychological health. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of chemotherapy with capecitabine in patients with colorectal cancer on work productivity and daily activity. Methods: 30 patients with primary diagnosis of stage III colorectal cancer were enrolled for our study. All patients received capecitabine twice daily at a cumulative dose of 2500 mg/m2 on days 1 -14 and repeated on day 22. Work productivity was determined using the WPAI questionnaire. Results: We observed a significant increase in absenteeism after 1 cycle, after 6 cycles of therapy and at follow-up (p < 0.001). On the other hand, presenteeism, work productivity loss and daily activity impairment, increased after 1 cycle and 6 cycles of therapy, but we could not find statistically different significances. Conclusions: Colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment are associated with frailty and vulnerability. Chemotherapy with capecitabine may result in negative consequences for job performance.
