Sirimarco,Mariana;
Etnográfica , 2012,
Abstract: the figure of the suspicious ethnographer tends to be a constant in early fieldwork. based on an anthropological experience in police schools, the aim of this article is to dismantle that construction of distrust, espionage and intransigence with which the subjects face both the ethnographer and his study, understanding it as an instance used to undermine his pretended authority and to negotiate the boundaries of the research. to declare this involves sustaining that the role of the research is not under the pure control of the ethnographer. this role, on the contrary, is highly permeable to the actions of the subjects in the field. blurred, disputed and confronted, the role of the ethnographer thus turns out, by virtue of this conflict of skills and competences, to be a sort of cooperative enterprise.
LOS CUERPOS REPLICANTES. LA ELUSIóN DEL CUERPO LEGíTIMO EN EL PROCESO DE FORMACIóN POLICIAL
SIRIMARCO,MARIANA;
Revista Colombiana de Antropología , 2009,
Abstract: this article explores one of the classic corporal routines of police schools -the milongas- and the modalities of its elusion, in order to understand this resistance as a way to confront the imperative of the legitimate police body proposed by the institution. the institutional discipline, far form being a control net that encapsules all freedoms and prescribes all attitudes, is a net full of interstices and possibilities of autonomy. this text deals with these elusion practices as performed by those who enter the institution with the intention of excluding the body from disciplinary routines. because the majority of these practices are fixed in the body, this is the most immediate terrain in which to fix the possibilities of resistance, creativity, and struggle.

El policía y el etnógrafo (sospechado): disputa de roles y competencias en un campo en colaboración The policeman and the (suspected) ethnographer: roles and competences in dispute in a co-produced field
Mariana Sirimarco
Ruth Stanley,Mariana Sirimarco
Daich,Deborah; Pita,María Victoria; Sirimarco,Mariana;
Cuadernos de antropolog?-a social , 2007,
Abstract: this work is centered in the analysis of the processes of configuration of violent territories and police control as resultants of the network of social relations and practices that bind police groups with subjects and groups, regularly defined and typified by the same police agency as objects of their control and administration. it is focused, in that sense, in the analysis of the corporalities and emotions qua constructors of bodies, identities and social relations. this, because we understand sociability networks that reciprocally tie individuals by means of interdependences of diverse class, as those that outline the field of the everyday life on which the effective forms of control and violence are constructed and produced.

Abstract: health professionals are exposed to various occupational risks, with the greatest impact from biological hazards due to direct contact with potentially contaminated organic materials. besides adopting universal biosafety measures, adequate immunization coverage must be achieved in this context, with educational initiatives playing a crucial role in the process. this was a cross-sectional observational study of undergraduates (n = 136) at the medical school of the federal university in juiz de fora to assess their immunization status and biological risk perceptions. eighty-nine students (65.4%) reported a complete vaccination schedule. ninety-seven (71.3%) had received full immunization against hepatitis b and 99 (72.8%) against tetanus. eighty-six (63.2%) reported having received immunization advice during the course. seventy-three (53.7%) had already been exposed to potentially contaminated material during their academic activities, and 97 (71.3%) used personal protective equipment (ppe) in these contexts. we identified missed immunization doses against hepatitis b and tetanus, a situation that exposes medical students to unnecessary risks. immunization advice was insufficient. the significant rate of exposure to biological hazards and the unsatisfactory use of ppe call for greater attention to accident prevention.
