Human Rights and Justice: Youth Perceptions in Dialogue with Public Policies in Brazil  [PDF]

Abstract: In the text, the relationships between youth perceptions and public policies on human rights and justice, related to guarantee and the right protection to education, are problematized. The research, of qualitative character, comprises 591 interviews with students from 15 higher education courses, using the Delphi technique in the collection, organization and data analysis. From the information obtained, the perception of young students on human rights is related, with higher incidence, to the basic rights, considered natural and positive rights. Perceptions point justice as application of moral standards, ethical standards, meritocracy, and damage repair. Thus, it is possible to conclude that the results of this study challenge the school in order to seek to ensure and protect the rights and thus promote social justice, understanding that performance in these perspectives makes possible the effectuation of a social quality basic education.

Abstract: objective. to identify knowledge, skills and attitudes in nursing management, learned during education, in graduates of a brazilian public university. methodology. cross sectional study carried out in 2010. 37 graduates of the nursing program participated. a questionnaire was used to get the information, which included socio-economical and knowledge variables, skills and attitudes linked to management subjects studied during undergraduate education. the latter variables were measured with questions likert like answers. data were processed and analyzed in excel. results. recent graduates manifested having enough knowledge, they consider themselves skillful and with favorable attitudes in the management field. graduates with higher job experience, even though they consider they have enough knowledge, their skills are half and they report an unfavorable attitude towards management. conclusion. knowledge, attitudes, and abilities of recent graduates towards management are different to the ones with higher professional experience. professional practice could change the perception nurses have towards management.

Abstract: objective: this paper aims to identify how parents experience the sexual education of their adolescent children. methods: qualitative descriptive and exploratory study, conducted in a private school in the municipal district of toledo, paraná state, brazil. data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed with content analysis. results: the parents reported interesting points regarding the approaches they use to educate their adolescent children regarding sexuality. these points included the open and honest dialogue, difficulties in communication, difficulties related to their own sexual education, the teaching of values, and the importance of sharing the sexual education of their children with the school. conclusion: there is a need for continuing support and education of patents regarding sexual education of their children since this is a complex issue to address.

Abstract: Objetivo. Identificar nos formados de uma universidade pública brasileira os conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes aprendidos durante a forma o para a gest o em enfermagem. Metodologia. Investiga o de tipo transversal realizada em 2010 na que participaram 37 formados do programa de enfermagem. Utilizouse um questionário para a tomada de informa o que incluiu variáveis socioecon micas e de conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes relacionadas com as matérias de gest o recebidas durante a forma o de pré-gradua o; estas últimas variáveis foram medidas com perguntas com op es de resposta tipo Likert. Os dados foram processados e analisados em Excel. Resultados. os recém formados manifestam ter suficientes conhecimentos, consideram-se hábeis e com atitudes favoráveis no área de gest o; em mudan a os formados com maior experiência trabalhista, ainda que consideram que têm suficiente conhecimento, sua habilidade é média e reportam uma atitude desfavorável para a gest o. Conclus o. Os conhecimentos, atitudes e habilidades do recém formado para a gest o s o diferentes ao de maior experiência profissional. A prática profissional poderia fazer mudar a percep o dos enfermeiros frente à gest o. Objetivo. Identificar en los egresados de una universidad pública brasile a, los conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes aprendidos durante la formación para la gestión en enfermería. Métodología. Investigación de tipo transversal realizada en 2010 en la que participaron 37 egresados del programa de enfermería. Se utilizó un cuestionario para la toma de información que incluyó variables socioeconómicas y de conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes relacionadas con las asignaturas de gestión recibidas durante la formación de pregrado. Estas últimas variables fueron medidas con preguntas con opciones de respuesta tipo Likert. Los datos fueron procesados y analizados en Excel. Resultados. Los recién egresados manifiestan tener suficientes conocimientos, se consideran hábiles y con actitudes favorables en el área de gestión; por el contrario, los egresados con mayor experiencia laboral, aunque consideran que tienen suficiente conocimiento, su habilidad es media y reportan una actitud desfavorable hacia la gestión. Conclusión. Los conocimientos, actitudes y habilidades del recién egresado hacia la gestión son diferentes de quien tiene mayor experiencia profesional. La práctica profesional podría hacer cambiar la percepción de los enfermeros frente a la gestión. Objective. Abstract: the arguments and objectives guided by the interests of students and teachers during the development of mathematical modelling activities were systematized by kaiser and sriraman (2006) as perspectives on mathematical modelling in mathematics education. considering the purpose of our article of investigating mathematical modelling as practice that can lead to the development of students' mathematical thought, we based our discussions on cognitive modeling. to approach mathematical thought, we used dreyfus' theoretical presuppositions (2002) about students' mathematical thought and the characterizations of tall (2004) for different "worlds of mathematics." analyses are carried out of the development of modeling activities by students in a university-level mathematics teaching program and express thoughts and considerations regarding the students' mathematical thinking and cognitive processes. there was evidence that students move among the three worlds of mathematics during the development of these activities. the results point to the potential of mathematical modelling activities for the development of processes of mathematical thought characterized by dreyfus (2002) and tall (2004).

Abstract: in this article, we approach the subject of the sense attribution to teaching and learning situations and we look for an alternative that allows the student to notice the importance of mathematics. it is with this perspective that we introduce mathematical modeling activities and we associate the students' development in classroom with aspects of the leontiev activity theory. two ideas seem to converge. on one side, to attribute sense and to build meanings in mathematics teaching and learning situations, it is necessary to approach situations that can establish relationships between the mathematics and the students' life. on the other hand, mathematical modelling activities can connect the classroom's mathematics with the problems of the community to which the students belong. when we developed a proposal for mathematical modeling activities with high school students, starting from the analysis of the information that we collected, we identified three conditions that can show the sense attribution and meaning in a modelling activity, taking into account the established relationships. the first condition refers to cases where the students face a problem that has for them subjective importance, in other words, when the problem is in fact a problem for them. the second condition refers to cases of critical engagement and transfer of learning of a modelling situation for other situations lived by the students. the third condition occurs when the students try to make relevant the use of the mathematics in the approach to a problem.

Abstract: In this paper we present a part of the results of a research in which we investigated the potential ofMathematical Modeling for the establishment of interactions with characteristics considered learning generating. In face of the importance given to the communication in Mathematical Modeling activities and classroom interactions, we investigated the interactions that emerge during the development of Mathematical Modeling activities and tried to identify interactions classified by some researchers with the greatest potential for learning. The results we present derive from an analysis under the lights of the discourse classification presented by Mortimer and Scott (2002) of the Modeling activities carried out by a group of Environmental Engineering students. From this analysis we have concluded that the characteristics of Mathematical Modeling in the classroom propitiate the student’s active participation, contributing to the establishment oflearning generating interactions.

Abstract: Neste trabalho apresentamos algumas reflex es, à luz da semiótica peirceana, sobre a possibilidade de se introduzirem, na sala de aula, atividades que sinalizem potencial para se desenvolverem diferentes tipos de raciocínio e diferentes a es cognitivas nos estudantes. Iniciamos o trabalho com pressupostos teóricos da semiótica no que diz respeito aos modos de inferência abdu o, dedu o e indu o e à Modelagem Matemática como alternativa pedagógica. Com o objetivo de investigar as rela es entre as a es cognitivas evidenciadas em atividades de modelagem e os modos de inferência, analisamos uma atividade de modelagem desenvolvida por alunos de um curso de licenciatura em matemática. A partir dessa análise, concluímos que os modos de inferência ativados nessa atividade est o associados às a es cognitivas dos alunos durante as transi es entre as diferentes etapas do desenvolvimento da atividade. In this paper we present some reflections, in the light of Peircean Semiotics, on the possibility of introducing into classroom, activities that signal the potential to develop different reasoning modes and different cognitive actions in students. We started working with the theoretical assumptions of semiotics in relation to the modes of inference abduction, deduction and induction and Mathematical Modeling as a pedagogical alternative. Aiming to investigate the relationships among cognitive actions highlighted in modeling activities and modes of inference, we analyzed a modeling activity developed by students of a course in Mathematics. From this analysis we conclude that the modes of inference activated in this activity are associated with cognitive actions of students during the transitions between the different stages of development activity

Abstract: Estudio descriptivo cualitativo realizado en un hospital universitario en Curitiba, Paraná, en octubre de 2009, con seis enfermeros que actúan en el área asistencial y de gestión, con el objetivo de reconocer las herramientas de gestión utilizadas en la práctica profesional de enfermería como un apoyo para la toma de decisiones. Los datos fueron recolectados mediante la técnica de grupo focal, y se utilizó el análisis de contenido. La categoría empírica denominada: herramientas de gestión para apoyo a la toma de decisiones, condujo a seis subcategorías: planificación, procedimientos operativos estándar, gestión del tiempo, liderazgo, autonomía, mediación de conflictos y negociación. Se propone que la institución y el Servicio de Enfermería proporcionen a los enfermeros actualización sobre la gestión del conocimiento para el desarrollo de competencias que produzcan una labor más eficaz y segura, una asistencia más calificada y una mayor satisfacción profesional

Abstract: the object of this study is the organization of activities in the vaccination program in ribeir?o preto, s?o paulo, during the process of municipalization of health services, analyzing changes and estimating results. the methodology included a survey performed during supervisory visits and questionnaires with 20 nurses and 39 vaccination workers in all the vaccination rooms at the municipal primary health care unit in this city, a survey of storage conditions for immunobiological products at the municipal level and a questionnaire for the section head, and interviews with five health professionals responsible for vaccination at the state, regional, and municipal levels. it followed that since implementation of the so-called integrated health actions proposal there has been an expansion of primary health care services, including vaccination services; there has also been a technical and administrative centralization of decisions involving vaccination activities, including training of human resources by the municipal epidemiological surveillance division. the study points out that although this activity is dealt with carefully by those responsible for the state, municipal, and district levels, the same is not true at the local level.
