Ensinar a condi o humana
p53 and MDM2 protein expression in actinic cheilitis
Freitas, Maria da Concei??o Andrade de;Ramalho, Luciana Maria Pedreira;Xavier, Flávia Caló Aquino;Moreira, André Luis Gomes;Reis, Sílvia Regina Almeida;
Journal of Applied Oral Science , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1678-77572008000600011
Abstract: actinic cheilitis is a potentially malignant lip lesion caused by excessive and prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation, which can lead to histomorphological alterations indicative of abnormal cell differentiation. in this pathology, varying degrees of epithelial dysplasia may be found. there are few published studies regarding the p53 and mdm2 proteins in actinic cheilitis. fifty-eight cases diagnosed with actinic cheilitis were histologically evaluated using banóczy and csiba (1976) parameters, and were subjected to immunohistochemical analysis using the streptavidin-biotin method in order to assess p53 and mdm2 protein expression. all studied cases expressed p53 proteins in basal and suprabasal layers. in the basal layer, the nuclei testing positive for p53 were stained intensely, while in the suprabasal layer, cells with slightly stained nuclei were predominant. all cases also tested positive for the mdm2 protein, but with varying degrees of nuclear expression and a predominance of slightly stained cells. a statistically significant correlation between the percentage of p53 and mdm2-positive cells was established, regardless of the degree of epithelial dysplasia. the expression of p53 and mdm2 proteins in actinic cheilitis can be an important indicator in lip carcinogenesis, regardless of the degree of epithelial dysplasia.

Educar em Revista , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40602008000200005
Abstract: a world-society that ranges from the westernization of the world to cultural diversity, from progress to poverty, and from the "society's metamorphosis alternatives or its disaster" ( morin, 2008a, p.38) seems to have in education an important key to face the scenario of uncertainty that characterizes our common future. overcoming the fragmentation of knowledge, reconnect knowledge and transpose the shortcomings of the information society set the open horizon of complex knowledge and a reform of thought and education. 'educating for life' becomes, according to edgar morin, the role and mission of education tuned with an ecology of ideas.
Ecologia da Ciência, ética da diversidade e educa o transdisciplinar
Maria da Concei??o de Almeida
Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente , 2008,
Abstract: The paradigm of thinking the world in a fragmented way that permeates the modern sciences born in the 17th Century, especially from the first half of the 20th Century onward, is unsatisfactory to the understand complex phenomena – be them physical or social. An ecology of knowledge, as it is now being conceived, recognizes the multidimensionality of phenomena and the interconnection among systems, at the same time that it reaffirms both cultural and cognitive diversity as principles capable of surpassing the “monoculture of mind” and questioning the planet’s Westernization.

Abstract: Objective: The objective is to correlate the nursing diagnoses of the domain Safety/Protection of NANDA-I in critically ill patients with sociodemographic and clinical data. Method: A cross-sectional study with 86 individuals was conducted, from October 2013 to May 2014 in the Intensive Care Unit of a university hospital in northeastern Brazil, through a formal interview and physical examination. Results: It was possible to identify a total of 20 significant statistical associations, and 15 were clinically justified by the literature, namely: risk for aspiration and reason for admission; impaired dentition and age; risk for peripheral neurovascular dysfunction and sex and comorbidity; skin integrity and comorbidity; risk for impaired skin integrity and gender and reason for admission; impaired tissue integrity and gender and reason for admission; risk for perioperative positioning injury and reason for admission; risk for thermal injury and age and comorbidity; delayed surgical recovery and reason for admission; risk for poisoning and years of schooling; and risk for imbalanced body temperature and age. Conclusions: By understanding the relationship between customers’ answers and the sociodemographic and clinical profile, positive health outcomes can be achieved in particular in the prevention of risks facing vulnerability characteristics, providing greater safety and protection for the critical customer.
Marques, Maria da Concei??o da Costa;Almeida, José Joaquim Marques de;
Revista Contabilidade & Finan?as , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-70772004000200007
Abstract: the broad reform program realized by public administrations resulted in the administration's new attitude towards the citizen, which is known as new public management, public managers are now vested with greater responsibility and must manage public resources efficiently and effectively. this new framework requires a specialized control from the state, which is able to verify the responsible persons' correct performance. the former supervision procedures reveal to be insufficient and new control mechanisms have to be installed. in order to evaluate the correct application of public resources, regular auditing practices in the public sector, which acquire a broader range, are increasingly occurring, although there is still a long way to go. while increasing advances are made in this area, the process is not generalized, which may be a bigger and bigger challenge for governments. public and private entities work according to different aims and use different techniques, which, in auditing terms, requires the development and adaptation of appropriate methods for public institutions, to attend to their needs. in view of these facts, this paper deals with the auditing functions and outlines this framework in the context of the public sector, explaining what is done in portugal in this sphere.
