The Family Thaerocytheridae Hazel, 1967 (Ostracoda) from the Southern Brazilian Continental Shelf
Feijó Ramos,Maria Inês; Coimbra,Jo?o Carlos; Whatley,Robin;
Ameghiniana , 2009,
Abstract: of a total fauna of 95 species of benthic ostracoda recovered from dry sediments from the southern brazilian continental shelf, 8% belong to the family thaerocytheridae. six species assigned to this family are discussed and figured in this paper; four of these, bradleya pseudonormani, b. kaesleri, muellerina cribrosa and quadracythere nealei are described as new, while brasilicythere reticulispinosa and quadracythere eichlerae were described for the first time from the quaternary of pelotas basin, in southern brazil. most of these species are restricted to the southern part of the southwest atlantic ocean, and their geographical distribution ranges from the southern brazilian continental shelf, in rio de janeiro state (21os), to the argentinian continental shelf (52os). three species are restricted to the southern brazilian continental shelf: b. kaesleri, m. cribrosa. and q. nealei, while three other species have fossil records: b. reticulispinosa (oligocene to recent), q. eichlerae and b. kaesleri (both holocene to recent).
Coimbra, Cecília;Leit?o, Maria Beatriz Sá;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822003000200002
Abstract: the present article is intended as an analysis of the social division of work within capitalism, the emergence of specialization - mainly psychology specialization - some productions of subjectivities and part of its effects. for such, we will initially appoint some ''forms'' that are being made for man, society, psychology and politics through the belief they have an existence of their own. such belief has instituted an essencialist psychology, privatized/intimized and family-focused. another prioritized aspect is the production of the ''individual-way-of-being'' and some of its effects: meritocracy and the psychologizing of social life. finally, some escape routes will be pointed out and escape lines that will allow the thinking of man, society, psychology and politics not as self-excluding territories, but as interconnected fields that crisscross out and add together.

Meal Plan in the Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa: A Way of Feeding the Disorder and Starving the Patient

Global Journal of Health Science , 2012, DOI: 10.5539/gjhs.v5n1p112
Abstract: For the mainstream Psychology/Psychiatry, anorexia nervosa is considered an eating disorder characterized by the low body weight and by the restrictive eating pattern. The traditional psychiatric treatment consists in the establishment of a meal plan that must be scrupulously followed and, most frequently, in pharmacological treatment. We propose an alternative conceptualization of anorexia nervosa that envisages this disorder as pertaining to the control domain. In this sense, we formulate psychiatric intervention as a “pact with anorexia”, once it follows the very same logic, prohibitions and self-impositions of the disorder. Specifically, we envisage the meal plan as a way of maintaining anorexia, instead of suppressing it. As we could observe in our four year research project, in which we’ve followed several anorectic female patients, those who were more committed to their psychiatric treatment were precisely those who had more difficulty in recovering from anorexia – i.e., from renouncing the control from which the disorder lives. Finally, we suggest some fundamental underpinnings to an effective therapeutic approach, based in our conceptualization and understanding of the disorder.

Abstract: the impossibility of experimental detection of uniform and absolute motion, also known as the principle of relativity, has not been well discussed in physics secondary school classes. in this paper, we present part of a didactical sequence in which topics of special relativity are presented to first year students. the discussion of galilean relativity allowed us to emphasize conceptual aspects of physics and introduce topics of special relativity. the analysis of teaching episodes, extracted from recordings made in class, and the students's answers to a post - test presented at the end of the teaching sequence, allowed us to infer that we had achieved our goals. the results were excellent, since, but for one student, all the others answered correctly, mentioning as expected the relativity principle so confirming the efficiency of our methodology.

Coimbra, Jorséli Angela Henriques;Valsechi, Elizabeth Amancio S.de S.;Carvalho, Maria Dalva de Barros;Pelloso, Sandra Marisa;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11691998000400003
Abstract: the nurse, as a member of the staff, is supposed to take responsibility on the administration of medicines as one of the important duties among all the activities he/she has to perform. the implementation of the distribution system of only-dose medicine is directly bound to nurses' activities. therefore, this study has as its main purpose to detect nurses' reflections about the system and their impact on nursing practice. the authors questioned the way the nurse and his/her staff are inserted in this context of changes, in a way of really assuring benefits for the patients, following and evaluating the whole process, considering that such change affects directly part of these activities.

Abstract: resisting, denouncing, tiring, sometimes becoming indignant, most of the time we are living the final moments of brazilian public universities, specially in the area known as social and human sciences. in the neoliberal ideal of minimum state, the resources and financings that have been allocated in public college-education in our country are, each year, more insignificant. it interests that, in a same public university, the several centers, institutes and departments ferociously struggle among themselves for the amount of money repassed in crumbs and coming as almses. the teams, the professors, the students compete against each other for the rare financings. these are the comments i bring in this text as introductory notes on the issue of brazilian universities today, specially concerned with devastation that, the so called "humanity" area has been suffering in post-graduation courses.

Abstract: until recently, morphotyping, a method evaluating fringe and surface characteristics of streak colonies grown on malt agar, has been recommended as a simple and unexpensive typing method for candida albicans isolates. the discriminatory power and reproducibility of hunter's modified scheme of phongpaichit's morphotyping has been evaluated on 28 c. albicans isolates recovered from the oral cavity of asymptomatic human immunodeficiency virus-positive subjects, and compared to two molecular typing methods: randomly amplified polymorphic dna (rapd) fingerprinting, and contour clamped homogeneous electric field (chef) electrophoretic karyotyping. morphological features of streak colonies allowed to distinguish 11 different morphotypes while rapd fingerprinting yielded 25 different patterns and chef electrophoresis recognized 9 karyotypes. the discriminatory power calculated with the formula of hunter and gaston was 0.780 for morphotyping, 0.984 for rapd fingerprinting, and 0.630 for karyotyping. reproducibility was tested using 43 serial isolates from 15 subjects (2 to 6 isolates per subject) and by repeating the test after one year storage of the isolates. while genetic methods generally recognized a single type for all serial isolates from each of the subjects studied, morphotyping detected strain variations in five subjects in the absence of genetic confirmation. poor reproducibility was demonstrated repeating morphotyping after one year storage of the isolates since differences in at least one character were detected in 92.9% of the strains.
