Abstract: It is said that the characterization of the educational philosophy of a university teaching staff may help the departments, the centros, and the university itself in the processes of defining and producing their educational objectives. Thus, in order to find out which was the most representative educational-philosophic current in the university, an exploratory study was carried out. Twenty percent of the teaching staff participated in the study. A questionnaire with bipolar scales, based on the description of the educational-philosophic currents proposed by George F Kneller in Introduction to the Philosophy of Education (1966), was given to the teachers, who could express, in varying degrees, their approval or disapproval of any of the educational-philosophic principles. In order to avoid the "halo effect", the principles were not identified with their respective currents. The results showed PROGRESSIVISM and PERENNIALISM (each favored by 212 of the participants) to be the educational-philosophic currents most representative of the modus operandi of the teaching staff of F.U.E.L. RECONSTRUCTIONISM and ESSENTIALISM constituted the second and third positions respectively. The principle of "progressivism", wich best characterizes the didactic thought of the teaching staff, is: "Considering that the individual learns according to his own ways and interests, the teacher's task is to command, but to guide the apprenticeship ". Acredita-se que a caracteriza o de filosofia educacional de um corpo docente universitário possa subsidiar os departamentos, os centros e a própria universidade nos processos de defini o e operacionaliza o dos seus objetivos educacionais. Com esse fim efetuou-se um estudo exploratório na Funda o Universidade Estadual de Londrina, do qual participaram vinte por cento do seu corpo docente. Baseado na descri o das correntes fllosófico-educacionais propostas por George F. Kneller em sua obra Introdu o à Filosofia da Educa o (1966) organizou-se um questionário com escalas bipolares, que permitiu a cada respondente expressar sua aprova o ou desaprova o, em graus diversos, a cada um dos princípios filosófico-educacionais. No instrumento, os princípios n o eram identificados com as respectivas correntes, a fim de se evitar o "efeito de Halo". O trabalho apresenta os princípios dominantes tanto na Universidade como nas áreas de estudo, nas categorias "concordo muito", "discordo muito", e nas intermediárias. Abstract: the aim of this study was to monitor the chemical properties of six substrates used in cacao propagation. the substrates received ten volumes (100ml each) of distilled water and the resultant leached were analyzed for ph, electrical conductivity (ec) and na and k concentrations. the values of ph ranged from 5,0 to 8,0 in plantmax? and composted cacao hulls (ctac), respectively. it was confirmed that the ce of all substrates diminished after the first leaching volume. the results demonstrated that coconut fiber (fc) as well as ctac should be used after an initial leaching pre-treatment. yet while fc presented an initial ec greater than ctac, the study showed that fc reaches the optimal value, 2.0 dsm-1, with fewer leaching volumes. moreover, a positive correlation was found between ec concentrations of k and na from fc (r=0.83 and 0.72; p<0.05) and ctac ( r=0.98 and 0.99 ;p<0.05), suggesting that the concentration of k and na are adequate indicators of ec of these substrates.
Estratégia acolhimento m?e-bebê: aspectos relacionados à clientela atendida em uma unidade básica de saúde do município do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract: this is a descriptive study that aimed to identify socio-demographic characteristics and health conditions of the mothers and the children cared by nurses in the strategy for mother and baby home in a basic health unit of the state of rio de janeiro. data were collected from medical records of 421 children attended on a basic unit in 2009. we conducted univariate analysis of data using the software "epi-info" version 3.5. the results showed that 70.6% of mothers were aged 20 to 35 years, 58.2% had undergone vaginal delivery, 5.0% showed abnormalities in the surgical scar, and 23.8% alteration in the breast. the companion and maternal grandmother were the social members that provided more support in the postpartum period. regarding the newborns 52.5% had up to 7 days old, 90.3% were exclusively breastfed, 16.2% had jaundice, and 3.8% presented abnormalities in the umbilical stump. we conclude that the evaluation of the chosen group provides important information for nurses and, thus, being able to give an efficient support to the mothers in the care of newborns and contributing to the bonding of mothers with this professional, and the adoption of health promotion practices.

Abstract: the present study aimed to analyze the adolescent's disposition for sports based in the bioecological paradigm of bronfenbrenner. the design of this study include two contexts (microsystems) with different environmental characteristics: (a) public school and (b) private school, both located on downtown of florianopolis. the results were organized according to two variables of the study: personal attributes (male or female) and context (public or private management). considering the proposed aim in this study, it was verified for the scholars which have participated of the research, the main motivational factor that led to sport were "health" and "fitness". therewith, the conclusion is that using a research model which takes into account the interaction between characteristics of the person, the context and the time is the most efficient model to study the adolescent's disposition for sports.

Abstract: physical growth and nutritional status are excellent health indicators since they permit the establishment of growth monitoring charts, especially for schoolchildren. the objective of this study was to compare the growth profile and nutritional status of schoolchildren between two samples (1997 and 2009). the data of physical growth and nutritional status obtained for the present sample of 645 schoolchildren (270 boys and 375 girls). the children were classified according to the body mass index (bmi)-for-age reference values of the who child growth standards. although no significant differences in height or body weight were observed between the children studied, these variables tended to increase from the first to the second sample and in the two genders. with respect to the adequacy of bmi in boys, there was an increase in the percentage of children with low bmi-for-age, doubling of the percentage of obese children, and a reduction in the percentage of children with overweight. an increase in the number of subjects with low body weight, overweight and obesity and a decrease in the number of subjects with adequate bmi-for-age were noted among girls. in conclusion, there were no significant changes in the physical growth indicators (weight, height and bmi) over the period comprising the two samples (1997 and 2009). however, height, body weight and the number of subjects with risk of obesity and obesity tended to increase, especially among girls.

Abstract: this article discusses communication in the physician-patient relationship with the aim of identifying potential instances of linguistic obstacles for the physician. the use of different linguistic variants and discursive strategies by the parties involved in communication are highlighted. the article shows that it is essential for physicians to be certain that they understand the problem brought by the patient or family, but this requires attempts to confirm this understanding at different moments during the interview, plus feedback on the physician's appraisal of the clinical situation and recommended measures. situations illustrating the text are taken from the authors' own professional experience

Abstract: It is unthinkable to discuss learning without thinking of the merited prominence of reading and writing, since these are the essential actions for the production of different forms of systematized knowledge, among which is scientific knowledge. From this perspective, the present work proposes answering the following question: to what extent can the proposed pedagogy called reciprocal teaching aid in the development of the abilities of reading and interpretation of scientific texts? The discussion of a text found in a biology textbook was organized around four moments: questioning, summarizing, predicting and clarifying. The analysis of the data shows that the collective work helped in the comprehension of the text and, especially, in the understanding of the meaning of some scientific terms and permitted a deeper and more complex analysis of the text. This would hardly occur in a polarized reading situation in which the professor would present the expected interpretation.

Abstract: Se, de acordo com a Constitui o Federal, a Universidade se caracteriza pela indissociabilidade entre Ensino, Pesquisa e Extens o, na prática essa intera o n o ocorre com facilidade. Neste artigo propomo-nos a discutir as tens es e os desafios nesse processo. Através dessas reflex es será possível perceber que, para a integra o ocorrer, será necessário repensar a estrutura da universidade, especialmente no que respeita ao gerenciamento das três atividades que caracterizam a universidade e à organiza o dos cursos, bem como capacitar os docentes tanto para a pesquisa quanto para o magistério superior. According to the federal constitution, university characterizes itself by the integration between the Teaching, Research and Extension, but in the practice generally this interaction does not happen. In this text we will analyze the tensions and challenges that exist in this process. Through this discussion, it will be possible to conclude that, for this integration to happen, it be necessary to rethink the structure of university, especially in what says respect to the management of these three activities that characterize the university and its organization, as well as the formation of the professors for the research and for the teaching. Abstract: é inegável a escassez de propostas de interven es e de elabora o de materiais instrucionais nacionais, relativos às estratégias de aprendizagem, em todos os segmentos da escolariza o formal. O objetivo deste artigo é descrever e analisar alguns estudos nacionais, realizados e em andamento, tendo como referencial teórico a Psicologia Cognitiva baseada na Teoria do Processamento da Informa o. Espera-se contribuir para discuss o e produ o de conhecimentos nessa área. The lack of national intervention proposals and instructional materials regarding learning strategies for school years is acknowledged by research. In line with that, the purpose of this paper is to describe and analyze carried out and ongoing national investigations adopting the Cognitive Psychology based on the Information Processing as a theoretical framework. Abstract: Este texto tem como objetivo desencadear discuss es, análises e proposi es no ambito do Ensino da Psicologia na área da saúde. Parte de um problematiza o do ensino em saúde no momento contemporaneo das políticas públicas de educa o e saúde no Brasil, situando como um desafio no processo de transforma o dos cursos superiores na área da saúde a incorpora o da concep o ampliada de saúde e a ênfase na integralidade e no cuidado no processo de forma o profissional, bem como a aprendizagem para o trabalho em equipe multiprofissional e a discuss o sobre os condicionantes trazidos pelos planos e projetos educacionais e assistenciais. Neste contexto, interroga para quê e para quem um Ensino de Psicologia que possa articular o cuidado, a integralidade, o controle social, a humaniza o e a ética, sem secundarizar as abordagens e enfoques psicológicos. Os sentidos e os sujeitos do ensino da Psicologia em saúde est o sendo decifrados e recriados, exigindo uma análise cuidadosa dos contornos político-sociais e dos projetos éticos que queremos estabelecer nas propostas de forma o profissional em saúde. This text aims at bringing about discussions, analyses and propositions regarding the teaching of Psychology in the medical field. It starts presenting some problems in teaching in the medical schools at the present time in the public policies of education and health in Brazil, a main challenge being the process of transformation of the graduation courses in the medical field into the incorporation of the broadened concept of health, and the emphasis on the integrity and care in the process of professional training, as well as learning how to work within a multi-professional team, and the discussion of the conditions brought by the educational and assistance plans and projects.In this context, the question is asked what for and to whom the teaching of Psychology is directed which is able to articulate this care, integrity, social control, humanization and ethics, without putting into second place the psychological approach. The senses and subjects of the teaching of Psychology in the health area are being decoded and recreated, thus demanding a careful analysis of the social-political surroundings, and the ethical projects we want to establish within the proposals of education for health professionals.
