Experiência escolar e julgamentos acerca da autoridade
Pereira,Maria Gouveia; Pires,Sara Sá;
Análise Psicológica , 1999,
Abstract: in this paper we present a research about adolescents? development attitudes towards formal authority in the school and in the public domain (police and law). we argue that school is an important source of experience in this area, providing most young people with their first close-up view of organisational rules, and their relationships with peer groups, as important supporting points of reference in the process of construction attitudes towards school authority and to formal authority in general. a total of 337 adolescents, aged between 14 and 18 years, were questioned about aspects of three different scales (emler & reicher, 1987; rubini & palmonari, 1995): subjective school?s valuation, attitudes to institutional authority. data derived from the study of several variables: sex, school auto-estimated success, academic status (reprove or not reprove school years), disciplinary status (being expulse from the classroom), to which type of peer group do they belong (formal versus informal) and peers? group identification degree. factor analysis yielded six factors - inadaptation to school rules, insecurity towards school valuation, self-esteem in funtion of the school experience, positive attitudes towards the legal system and school authority, duties/transgression towards institutional authority, and partiality of legal authorities. both overall attitude scores and factor scores were significantly related (manova analysis) to: sex, school auto-estimated success, academic status and disciplinary status. finally, analysis of the results indicate also that the attitude towards institutional authority may depend on the type of peer group, that young people belong, as well as identification?s degree.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to develop an experimental protocol to assess the impact of bt cotton on bionomics and on plant choice for aphis gossypii colonization. the bionomics of the cotton aphid was assessed in greenhouse with insects reared in individual cages containing bt cotton plants of the variety dp 404 bg (bollgard) or its nontransformed isoline dp 4049. cages with bt cotton and non-bt cotton were used as choosing arena for evaluation of winged adults preference. there was no significant difference for pre-reproduction period (immature phase), reproduction period, longevity, survivorship curve total and daily production of offspring by female, and curve of accumulated production of offspring by the population. there was no preference of colonization for any plant by winged adults, which indicates equivalent rates of colonization of the initial populations. bt cotton plants do not affect the population dynamics of a. gossypii, and do not increase its potential risk as pest.

Santos, Camila Batista dos;Carvalho, Simone Carneiro Ahualli de;Silva, Maria Fernanda Gouveia da;Fuentes, Daniel;Santana, Pedro Augusto;Furlan, André Beer;Aguiar, Paulo Henrique Pires de;
Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X2008000500017
Abstract: the goal of this study was to accomplish the cross-cultural adaptation of a quality of life instrument, specific for neurosurgical patients, called innsbruck health dimensions questionnaire for neurosurgical patients (ihd-ns). thirty patients participated in this study, male and female, all having been submitted to brain tumor surgery more than twelve months before, and whose ages ranged from 26 to 66. after the process of translation/back translation and the elaboration of the brazilian version of the instrument, the patients were assessed and reassessed within a one-month period. statistical analyses evinced the preservation of the internal consistency, high agreement levels and highly significant intra-class correlation, allowing for the belief in the quality and reliability of the portuguese version, named questionário de dimens?es de saúde para pacientes neurocirúrgicos de innsbruck - dsi (nc).
Tendências da investiga??o na psicologia do desporto, exercício e actividade física
Gouveia,Maria Jo?o;
Análise Psicológica , 2001,
Abstract: this paper's main goal is to draw a brief review over physical activity, exercise and sports psychology research. an historical perspective will sustain an overlook through the most relevant paradigms and research guidelines. the progressive differentiation between sports and exercise psychology is the underline subject that will be analysed through the definition of its distinguishing elements and by the separate reference of its main research issues in recent empirical literature.
An Instrument for Perceiving Ethical Problems in Primary Healthcare: Psychometric Parameters and Ethical Components  [PDF]
Ana Maria de Oliveira, Valdiney Gouveia, Rui Nunes
International Journal of Clinical Medicine (IJCM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ijcm.2014.516133

Ethical issues in primary (health) care (PC) are common and are confronted daily. In the scarce literature that was available, Zoboli and Silva developed an instrument (IPE-APS) for perceiving ethical conflicts. Two empirical ex post facto studies to gather psychometric evidence for the instrument were outlined. In the first study, 88 nurses and physicians from Brazil’s Family Health (Saúde da Família—SF) responded to the IPE-APS, and the results confirmed its validity and accuracy. In total, 14 items were grouped in Factor I (relationship/responsibility), which was described as having human rights and deontological nature (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.92), and 11 items were grouped in Factor II, which was described as having a labor structure nature (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.90). In the second study, 207 SF professionals in Goiania, Goiás responded to the IPE-APS. The results showed that Factor I had a high factorial congruence index (0.98), which revealed high similarity and showed that the instrument displayed practical validity to identify and assess ethical problem perception in PC.

Dynamic Capacity Allocation in OTN Networks  [PDF]
Maria Catarina Taful, Jo?o Pires
Communications and Network (CN) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/cn.2015.71005
Abstract: A dynamic Optical Transport Network (OTN) has the advantage of being able to adjust the connection capacity on demand in order to respond to variations on traffic patterns or to network failures. This feature has the potential to reduce operational costs and at the same time to optimize networks resources. Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) and Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS) are two techniques that when properly combined can be used to provide improved dynamism in OTN networks. These techniques have been previously standardized in the context of Next Generation SDH/SONET networks. VCAT is used to tailor the capacity of network connections according to service requirements, while LCAS can adjust dynamically that capacity in a hitless manner. This paper presents an overview of the application of VCAT/LCAS techniques in the context of OTN. It explains in detail how these techniques can be employed to resize the connection capacity and analyses its use in network protection solutions. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the time delays associated with different operations is provided and its application to some reference networks is undertaken. The obtained results provide an idea about the time delays of the capacity adjustment processes and define potential scenarios for implementing VCAT/LCAS techniques.
Amor romantico na literatura infantil: uma quest?o de gênero
Pires, Suyan Maria Ferreira;
Educar em Revista , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40602009000300007
Abstract: considering that love and marriage have being jeopardized in our society, as new family patterns or even other possibilities on how to experience love emerge, my research problem is focused on discussing how children's literature has been presenting themes such as: how does romantic love and the materialization of this feeling, through relationships that are established based upon it, have been represented in children's literature books? in which ways are gender relationships depicted in these books? how is marriage seen in connection with love relationships? results show that in most of children's literary pieces love feelings still appears associated with the idea of marriage; woman is still responsible for raising up children; some stories present romantic love linked with pain and the difficulty of conquest. the characteristics of love at first sight are also persistent, as well as the empowerment of this feeling in order to transform the other person.
The contribution of isopods in the feeding of Sympterygia spp (Pisces: Rajidae) with a description of Ancinus gaucho sp. n. (Isopoda: Sphaeromatidae)
Pires, Ana Maria Setubal;
Boletim do Instituto Oceanográfico , 1987, DOI: 10.1590/S0373-55241987000200002
Abstract: the present paper deals with the isopods present in the stomach content of sympterygia acuta and s. bonapartei, two species of rajidae frequently found along rio grande do sul coast. eight species of isopods were found in the stomachs analysed, and ancinus gaucho sp.n. showed to be an important food resource for the fishes, especially for s. bonapartei. the difference found in the diet composition of both species of skates seems to reflect a non selective feeding of the fishes on distinct benthic communities. the description of ancinus gaucho is also furnished herein as well as a key to the known species of the genus.
