Abstract: background: the routine use of local anesthetics associated to vasoconstrictors for the dental treatment of patients with cardiopathies is still controversial, due to the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects. objective: to evaluate and compare the hemodynamic effects of the use of local anesthetics with a non-adrenergic vasoconstrictor in patients with ventricular arrhythmia, when compared to the use of anesthetics without vasoconstrictor. methods: a prospective randomized study evaluated 33 patients with positive serology for chagas' disease and 32 patients with coronary artery disease that presented complex ventricular arrhythmia at holter monitoring (>10 ev/h and nsvt), of which 21 were females, aged 54.73 + 7.94 years, submitted to routine dental treatment with pterygomandibular anesthesia. these patients were divided in two groups: group i received prilocaine 3% associated with felypressin 0.03 iu/ml and group ii received lidocaine 2% without vasoconstrictor. the number and complexity of extrasystoles were analyzed, as well as the heart rate and systemic arterial pressure of the patients on the day before, one hour before, during the procedure and one hour after the dental procedure. results: no hemodynamic alterations or increase in the number and complexity of the ventricular arrhythmia related to the anesthetic used in the dental procedure were observed in either group. conclusion: the results suggest that prilocaine 3% associated to a felypressin 0.03 iu/ml can be safely used in patients with chagas' disease or coronariopathy with complex ventricular arrhythmia.

Universum : Revista de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales , 2008,
Abstract: Este artículo presenta un análisis de los resultados que aporta la investigación, cualitativo-fenomenológica realizada en Jardines Infantiles de la Región del Bio Bío, respecto a la participación de la familia en los procesos educativos de sus hijos e hijas expresada desde la vivencia de sus actores. La iniciativa de investigar sobre el tema nace de la necesidad de profundizar en la experiencia de familias y docentes que se vinculan en un proceso de participación orientado por Políticas Sociales y Bases Curriculares. Sin embargo, la observación de estas prácticas entrega una visión confusa entre diversos paradigmas que se alejan de los enfoques actuales existentes para promover una participación social que empodere a sus actores y genere desarrollo de mayores capacidades. El propósito del estudio fue conocer el tipo de participación de la familia existente en estos jardines infantiles, las expectativas existentes entre sus actores, familias y docentes, y en un nivel más específico, identificar obstáculos, facilitadores, y estrategias que intervienen en el proceso en el contexto de la educación que se brinda a ni os y ni as de sectores vulnerables de la población. La información que se obtuvo constituye un modesto aporte desde Trabajo Social a la educación parvularia, a la luz de cuyos hallazgos se invita a revisar la Política de Trabajo con Familias en la institución, escuchar la voz de sus actores y, considerar los resultados como factor de análisis para contribuir a revitalizar la participación de las familias y potenciar a los agentes educativos encargados de para promover estos procesos. Sin duda cualquier esfuerzo que se haga en pro de la participación social es una contribución al bienestar humano, especialmente cuando el contexto incluye a familias de alta vulnerabilidad social. Befi-Lopes, Debora Maria;Cáceres, Ana Manhani;
Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-80342009000400007
Abstract: purpose: this study sought to quantitatively analyze the use of tense (present, past or future), mood (indicative, subjunctive or imperative), number (singular or plural) and person (first, second or third) of the verbs enunciated in spontaneous speech by brazilian portuguese-speaking preschoolers from the city of s?o paulo with normal language development. methods: speech samples from 60 preschoolers divided into three groups, paired by gender and age: gi (between 2:0 and 2:11 years), gii (between 3:0 and 3:11 years) and giii (between 4:0 and 4:11 years). results: within-groups analysis showed prevalence of the use of indicative mood, present tense, singular and third person. between-groups analysis indicated that the use of the indicative mood increased with age, while imperative decreased and subjunctive almost did not occur in this sample. the present tense did not show differences between groups, while past and future increased. regarding number, the use of singular prevailed, but both singular and plural increased with age. finally, the use of third person was prevalent, and the use of second person decreased, while first person increased from gi to giii. conclusion: the results showed that the preschoolers studied perfected the use of verbal morphology during their development, showing a gradual evolution on the domain of the aspects analyzed. no statistically significant differences were found in gender comparisons.
The phytoplankton of Guanabara Bay, Brazil: I. historical account of its biodiversity
Villac, Maria Célia;Tenenbaum, Denise Rivera;
Biota Neotropica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1676-06032010000200030
Abstract: this is a historical account of the biodiversity of phytoplankton in guanabara bay, brazil. it is based on 57 publications that refer to sampling carried out between 1913 and 2004. the publications included are those with direct microscopic identification. although 80% of the studies focus on ecological issues that tend to mention only the most abundant species, 24 publications provide comprehensive check-lists at the species level, especially of taxa > 20 μm. the inventory of species includes, to date, 308 taxa among 199 diatoms, 90 dinoflagellates, 9 cyanobacteria, 5 euglenophyceans, 1 chlorophycean, 1 prasinophycean, 1 silicoflagellate, and 2 ebriids. the most conspicuous species were the dinoflagellate scrippsiella trochoidea and diatoms from the skeletonema costatum complex. the first was the theme of the very first publication in the area (faria 1914) that reported on its bloom associated with the mass mortality of fish due to oxygen depletion; it is still often found in high abundances (106 cell.l-1) in more protected areas. the second was long considered in the literature as a cosmopolitan and opportunistic species, until the recent discovery of cryptic species within the genus; taxonomic re-evaluation of local populations is, therefore, needed. besides these two species, only other 25 species stood out in terms of frequency of occurrence and widespread distribution in the bay, some known to be implicated in harmful blooms elsewhere. the biodiversity of dinoflagellates, especially within the gymnodiniales, and that of other unidentified flagellates (haptophyceae, cryptophyceae, prasinophyceae, raphidophyceae) is largely underestimated because of the use of fixatives that distort/destroy diagnostic characters. from the initial inventory of 124 taxa published in 1917 and the subsequent additions in species numbers, one can have a false perception that the phytoplankton biodiversity has increased throughout the years, despite the overall increase in eutrophicat
Morfoanatomia e ontogênese do pericarpo de Schizolobium parahyba (Vell.) Blake (Fabaceae, Caesalpinioideae)
Pietrobom, Rita de Cássia Violin;Oliveira, Denise Maria Trombert;
Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042004000400015
Abstract: in this work, we studied morphologic, anatomical and developmental aspects of schizolobium parahyba (vell.) blake pericarp with aim to describe the fruit wall, supplying subsidies to taxonomic and phylogenetic works with caesalpinioideae; still, we intend to identify and to relate the pericarp structures involved with fragmentation process, which culminates in seed dispersion. during fruit development we defined four stages: i - ovary; ii - very young fruits with meristematic activity in pericarp; iii - young fruits until its definitive size, characterized for the cellular elongation; iv - ripening fruits, including mesocarp and endocarp lignification, culminating in the pericarp fragmentation. in conclusion, the papiraceous part responsible to seed dispersion is the whole endocarp, including the sclerenchymatic stratum and inner parenchyma cells.
