Using Lie symmetries in epidemiology
Maria Clara Nucci
Electronic Journal of Differential Equations , 2005,
Abstract: Lie symmetry method has been and still is successfully applied in different problems of physics for about a hundred years, but its application in epidemiology has been rare perhaps because the ordinary differential equations studied in this field are generally of first-order in contrast with those in physics which are usually of second-order. Here we exemplify the use of Lie symmetry method in the study of mathematical models in epidemiology, and show how it complements the mathematical techniques (qualitative and numerical analysis) traditionally used.
Identidade humana e pessoal: uma perspectiva naturalista da moralidade
Dias,Maria Clara;
EPISTEME , 2006,
Abstract: in this article i defend an expansive conception of morality. i propose an investigation of a life style capable of actualizing human nature and of productively harmonizing social relations. therefore, i will: (1) demonstrate that a merely prescriptive conception of morality does not offer a satisfactory understanding of diverse aspects of a moral deliberation, (2) emphasize the essentially imaginative aspect of the exercise of practical rationality, and (3) relate de adoption of a minimum conception of human nature and the implementation of normative principles.
A educa??o de jovens e adultos no Plano Nacional de Educa??o: avalia??o, desafios e perspectivas
Di Pierro, Maria Clara;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302010000300015
Abstract: this paper contextualizes and assesses the results of the 2001-2010 national plan for education. it clearly demonstrates that the goals for youth and adult education (yae), established by law 10.172, will not be reached. it analyzes the approach given to yae in the preparatory and final documents of the brazilian conference on education. the main challenges that the new national plan for education 2011-2020 will have to face in this field of education concern political-pedagogical concepts, funding, educator formation and professionalization, as well as collaboration among the different spheres of government.
Evolu??o recente da educa??o de pessoas adultas na Espanha
Di Pierro, Maria Clara;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302000000300012
Abstract: the paper reports the development of adult education in spain from its early stages in the 19thcentury to present days. emphasis is given to innovations introduced in the 80's by the teaching reform, wich was consolidated in 1990 by the general organization law of the teaching system. influences on this process from the pedagogical renovation movements as well as from international and multilateral european organizations are analyzed. among the innovations analyzed, the following are highlighted: adult education conceived as a paradigm of continuous education rather than the compensatory trait that historically had guided it; decentralization of education favoring autonomous communities; integration as a preeminent political and pedagogical principle; territory adopted as a planning unit for educational availability.
Notas sobre a redefini??o da identidade e das políticas públicas de educa??o de jovens e adultos no Brasil
Di Pierro, Maria Clara;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302005000300018
Abstract: the aim of this paper is to identify emerging themes and processes in the area of public policies for youth and adult education. this paper first explores the process that redefined the identity of and the public policies for youth and adult education in brazil, resulting from both the recognition of the learners' sociocultural diversity and the conflict between the compensatory paradigm and the concept of continuing education throughout life. it then discusses the challenges and conflicts of the public policies to overcome the marginal position assigned to youth and adults in the educational reform that took place in the 1990. it finally suggests that the main current challenges to be faced by the public policies in this field emerge from the dialogue agenda and the conflict between the movement favoring youth and adult education and the government. the latter include, among others, the articulation between literacy and schooling, the public financing strategies, the collaboration between the different government levels, and teacher training and professionalization.
Descentraliza??o, focaliza??o e parceria: uma análise das tendências nas políticas públicas de educa??o de jovens e adultos
Di Pierro, Maria Clara;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022001000200009
Abstract: this article examines the education of youngsters and adults within the educational reform implemented in brazil during the 1990s, analyzing the fulfillment of the decentralization in this specific field of education as well the programs and beneficiaries, the deregulation and selective privatization of services. under this perspective, it is deemed that the educational reform was fettered by the goals of fiscal adjustment, a fact that resulted in the redefinition of the role of the state in the funding and offer of education services, producing a movement of the boundaries between public and private responsibilities in the promotion of education for young and adult persons. tendencies are highlighted of proliferation of providers, and of multiplication of youngster and adult education programs conducted in partnership between governmental and non-governmental agents. such practices are inspired in varying meanings attributed to the concepts of partnership and of non-governmental public services, admitting an economic-instrumental view as well as a perspective of democratization of the public sphere. considering these different meanings and implementation strategies, the article analyzes how the concept of partnership has been put in practice in three federal initiatives for the education of youngsters and adults - the solidary literacy program, the land reform education program, and the national plan for professional education and qualification.
Metassíntese qualitativa: desenvolvimento e contribui??es para a prática baseada em evidências
Matheus, Maria Clara Cassuli;
Acta Paulista de Enfermagem , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-21002009000800019
Abstract: metasynthesis is an emergent technique to synthesize qualitative research findings. besides conceptual and methodological controversies, methasynthesis has the potential to contribute for evidence-based practice. in the last decade, several publications addressed the relevance of this and other techniques to synthesize qualitative research findings. this paper presents a brief discussion of methasynthesis, including a description of each one of its steps.
Educa??o de jovens e adultos na América Latina e Caribe: trajetória recente
Di Pierro, Maria Clara;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742008000200006
Abstract: this article analyzes the results of a collaborative survey which has traced the recent trajectory of youth and adult education (yae) in twenty countries of latin america and the caribbean, drawing a cartography of the politics and programs of the governments and of the civil society. based on an exam of the regional context, the work draws conclusions about the roles recently played by yae and recognizes the plurality of particular social subjects which require this education modality. characterization and comparison of policies and programs of such countries lead to the identification of common trends, exceptional cases and critical aspects.
O ENIGMA DE KASPAR HAUSER (1812?-1833): UMA ABORDAGEM PSICOSSOCIAL
Saboya, Maria Clara Lopes;
Psicologia USP , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642001000200007
Abstract: starting from a historical-cultural approach in psychology, this work analyzes the development of kaspar hauser, a real and enigmatic character that didn't know how to speak, nor to walk and didn't behave as a human being when he was found in nuremberg, in 1928, at supposedly age 15. still today, his enigma remains: in spite of a lot of hypotheses and suspicions we have not yet discovered its origins. leaning on studies of vygotsky and luria, which indicate that the perception depends, above all, on the social practice which is necessary to produce the cultural reference for the apprehension of reality, the author analyzes how language and thought are articulated in kaspar hauser's cognitive development and how he conceives the world that surrounds him, having been deprived from the filters and cultural stereotypes that stipulate the perception and knowledge.
Fenomenologia das motiva??es do adolescente em conflito com a lei
Jost, Maria Clara;
Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-37722010000100012
Abstract: this paper aims to assess the mobilizing motivations of the adolescent's behavior in conflict with the law, adopting the interactive concept of infringement. individual and semi-structured interviews were conducted with male adolescents deprived of freedom. the obtained contents were organized into thematic groups, analyzed phenomenologically, and articulated to the underlying motivations. the results revealed a living ambivalence that corrupts the subjectivities and fragments the intersubjective relationships, forging existential distress. this distress is expressed as actions against himself and the society. attention is called to the need for psychosocial interventions that consider the problem not only from the symbolic and cultural determinism that engender it, but that also includes the adolescents′ search for answers to their humanistic-existential suffering.
