Páez,María Cecilia; Giovannetti,Marco;
Av?? , 2008,
Abstract: it is possible to summarize the interpretations about the prehispanic past that were built over the latest half of the twentieth century -which helped as a foundation for the following scientific development-, as a strong connection between the ethnic identity and the material culture. ethnicity is manifested through an aggregate of material items that were left behind by a highly homogeneous social unity, to which these characteristics functioned as distinctions. however, the analysis -in this case, a stylistic analysis-of the pottery records for the late and inka epochs, account for a significantly more complex process, in which the identitary practice is manifested as a fluent, contingent and dynamic process. the combination and recombination in a same fragment of design elements that were traditionally related to defined stylistic manifestations (belén, santa maría, famabalasto), seems to be more of a rule rather than an exception in the late epoch representations. hence, it is proposed a revaluation regarding the construction of identities, taking as a leading axis the structural role of the social practices.

It is possible to summarize the interpretations about the prehispanic past that were built over the latest half of the twentieth century -which helped as a foundation for the following scientific development-, as a strong connection between the ethnic identity and the material culture.
Abstract: At the actual woods of la plata has been found the precise location of Old Estancia, once under the ownership of the Iraola family, establishment that functioned previously to the foundation of the capital in 1882. An interesting pit of discarded material was found in the lands that belong to the La Plata Observatory and was excavated nearly in its totality. At the pit it was possible to find a broad variety in ergology, and the remainings of daily consumption materials were found (food remainings for example) as well as work tools and different kinds of silverware from those times. In this work are presented the results of the analysis of the materials gathered, with a special emphasis in the day-to-day practices and the habits of the people who finally discarded the materials archaeologically recovered. At the same time there is an attempt to establish the possible relationship between the materials and their origin (especially with the silverware), to make inferences on the consumption habits of the rural establishments of the XIX century elite.
Equilibrium and Kinetic Aspects in the Sensitization of Monolayer Transparent TiO2 Thin Films with Porphyrin Dyes for DSSC Applications

International Journal of Photoenergy , 2014, DOI: 10.1155/2014/834269
Abstract: Free base, Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the 2,7,12,17-tetrapropionic acid of 3,8,13,18-tetramethyl-21H,23H porphyrin (CPI) in solution and bounded to transparent monolayer TiO2 nanoparticle films were studied to determine their adsorption on TiO2 surface, to measure the adsorption kinetics and isotherms, and to use the results obtained to optimize the preparation of DSSC photovoltaic cells. Adsorption studies were carried out on monolayer transparent TiO2 films of a known thickness. Langmuir and Frendlich adsorption constants of CPI-dyes on TiO2 monolayer surface have been calculated as a function of the equilibrium concentrations in the solutions. The amount of these adsorbed dyes showed the accordance with Langmuir isotherm. Kinetic data on the adsorption of dyes showed significantly better fits to pseudo-first-order model and the evaluated rate constants linearly increased with the grow of initial dye concentrations. The stoichiometry of the adsorption of CPI-dyes into TiO2 and the influence of presence of coadsorbent (chenodeoxycholic acid) have been established. The DSSC obtained in the similar conditions showed that the best efficiency can be obtained in the absence of coadsorbent with short and established immersion times. 1. Introduction TiO2 is a stable, semiconductor with large band gap well known for its considerable applications in dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) systems [1, 2] and, for this, several preparation methods have been performed [3–6]. TiO2 nanoparticles layer, together with the dye-sensitizer loaded on its surface, is one of the most important parts of the DSSC structure and, therefore, the optimization of these parameters can enhance the DSSC efficiency. In the search of new dyes with high extinction coefficient and high DSSC performances, new ruthenium dyes [7], porphyrin dyes [8], and other metal-free dyes [9, 10] are synthesized. Porphyrins are particularly interesting as photosensitizers for DSSC for the absorption in the 400–450?nm region of Soret band and in the 500–700?nm region of Q-bands and also for the appropriate LUMO and HOMO energy levels; this makes them promising candidates as substitutes for ruthenium dyes in DSSC applications [11]. The increase in the use of porphyrin dyes as sensitizers in DSSC has been very important to clarify the role of natural porphyrins as light harvesting in the photosynthesis; the imitation of this process has been obtained using chlorophyll derivatives as dye sensitizers for nano-TiO2 films [12, 13], showing also the importance of free carboxylic groups for the anchoring on the
Coherent edge mixing and interferometry in quantum Hall bilayers
Stefano Roddaro,Luca Chirolli,Fabio Taddei,Marco Polini,Vittorio Giovannetti
Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.87.075321
Abstract: We discuss the implementation of a beam splitter for electron waves in a quantum Hall bilayer. Our architecture exploits inter-layer tunneling to mix edge states belonging to di?erent layers. We discuss the basic working principle of the proposed coherent edge mixer, possible interferometric implementations based on existing semiconductor-heterojunction technologies, and advantages with respect to canonical quantum Hall interferometers based on quantum point contacts.
Topological pumping in the one-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model

Physics , 2013, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.87.085131
Abstract: By means of time-dependent density matrix renormalization group calculations we study topological quantum pumping in a strongly interacting system. The system under consideration is described by the Hamiltonian of a one-dimensional extended Bose-Hubbard model in the presence of a correlated hopping which breaks lattice inversion symmetry. This model has been predicted to support topological pumping [E. Berg, M. Levin, and E. Altman, Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 110405 (2011)]. The pumped charge is quantized and of topological nature. We provide a detailed analysis of the finite-size-scaling behavior of the pumped charge and its deviations from the quantized value. Furthermore we also analyze the non-adiabatic corrections due to the finite frequency of the modulation. We consider two configurations: a closed ring where the time-dependence of the parameter induces a circulating current, and a finite open-ended chain where particles are dragged from one edge to the opposite edge, due to the pumping mechanism induced by the bulk.
