A Liberdade da Imprensa Agrilhoada
Marco Aurelio Peri Guedes
Lex Humana , 2010,
From Risk Measures to Research Measures
Marco Frittelli,Ilaria Peri
Quantitative Finance , 2012,
Abstract: In order to evaluate the quality of the scientific research, we introduce a new family of scientific performance measures, called Scientific Research Measures (SRM). Our proposal originates from the more recent developments in the theory of risk measures and is an attempt to resolve the many problems of the existing bibliometric indices. The SRM that we introduce are based on the whole scientist's citation record and are: coherent, as they share the same structural properties; flexible to fit peculiarities of different areas and seniorities; granular, as they allow a more precise comparison between scientists, and inclusive, as they comprehend several popular indices. Another key feature of our SRM is that they are planned to be calibrated to the particular scientific community. We also propose a dual formulation of this problem and explain its relevance in this context.
Sources of Brazil's Counter-Hegemony
Oliveira, Marcos Aurelio Guedes de;
Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-73292010000200007
Abstract: there have been two key initiatives taken in the last two decades in brazil to create a counter-hegemonic project for the country. one initiative resulted from brazil's business community and high-level state bureaucracy and aimed at forming a regional economic and political bloc that would guarantee and enlarge a relative independence from the hegemonic powers. the other resulted from the emergence of the new unionist movement in s?o paulo and from the formation of partido dos trabalhadores and aimed at promoting radical democratization and reducing social exclusion. both initiatives have created policies and changes that have converged to enhance brazil's counter-hegemonic position as a regional and emerging power.
Teoría de la escalera térmica
Macchiavello C,Marco Aurelio;
Revista chilena de infectología , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-10182009000500015
Abstract: in this article we raise the possibility of a potential relationship between body temperature of different spe-cies of animáis and the avian flu. we hypothesize that the different valúes of body temperature could act as an enabling mechanism for influenza virus infection through an adaptative mechanism of the virions in the species susceptible to infection, including human beings.

In this article we raise the possibility of a potential relationship between body temperature of different spe-cies of animáis and the Avian Flu. We hypothesize that the different valúes of body temperature could act as an enabling mechanism for Influenza virus infection through an adaptative mechanism of the virions in the species susceptible to infection, including human beings.

The Effect of Supersymmetric Particles on b -> s γDecay in Supergravity Models
Marco Aurelio Diaz
Physics , 1993,
Abstract: The effect of loops involving charginos with up-type squarks, and gluinos with down-type squarks, on the inclusive decay mode $b\rightarrow s\gamma$ is studied in the context of minimal $N=1$ Supergravity models with a radiatively broken electroweak symmetry group. It is confirmed that the strong constraints imposed by the CLEO upper bound $B(b\rightarrow s\gamma)<5.4\times 10^{-4}$ on two-Higgs doublets models are much weaker in supersymmetric theories due to partial cancelations from loops involving charginos and up-type squarks. The dependence of the branching ratio and the supersymmetry masses on the top quark mass is explored.
The b -> s gamma decay in supergravity with radiatively electroweak breaking
Marco Aurelio Diaz
Physics , 1993, DOI: 10.1016/0370-2693(94)91108-8
Abstract: It is analyzed the branching ratio $B(b\rightarrow s\gamma)$ in the context of minimal $N=1$ supergravity with radiatively broken electroweak symmetry group. There is a strong dependence on supersymetric parameters, but constraints on the charged Higgs mass in non-supersymmetric models are relaxed, due to large contribution from the chargino/up-type squark sector that interacts destructively with the Standard Model and the charged Higgs contributions. Large suppressions/enhancements of the branching fraction are found for large values of $\tan\beta$.
Closing the Light Gluino Window in Supersymmetric Grand Unified Models
Marco Aurelio Diaz
Physics , 1994, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevLett.73.2409
Abstract: We study the light gluino scenario giving special attention to constraints from the masses of the light CP-even neutral Higgs $m_h$, the lightest chargino $m_{\chi^{\pm}_1}$, and the second lightest neutralino $m_{\chi^0_2}$, and from the $b\rightarrow s\gamma$ decay. We find that minimal $N=1$ supergravity, with a radiatively broken electroweak symmetry group and universality of scalar and gaugino masses at the unification scale, is incompatible with the existence of a light gluino.
