Trabalho e forma??o
Pochmann, Marcio;
Educa??o & Realidade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S2175-62362012000200009
Abstract: the emergence of new forms of work, associated with the increase in the populations' life expectancy, connects with the perspective of changes in educational training. among other characteristics, education ceases to center solely in the early phases of life to be lifelong. in this transformation, the understanding among social actors is a necessary condition to a better efficient allocation of means of production. by the same token, the possibility presents of sharing new gains of productivity with a higher threshold of civility than that of the twentieth century. sustainable forms of production and of work organization require a basis of professional education and training.
Educa??o e trabalho: como desenvolver uma rela??o virtuosa?
Pochmann, Marcio;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302004000200005
Abstract: this paper discusses the relations between education and work, in brazil. its main thesis is that the restructuring of education has to be articulated with an economic development stage and the mean expectation of life of the population.
Alteridade e experiência: Antropologia e teoria etnográfica
Goldman,Marcio;
Etnográfica , 2006,
Abstract: starting from the concept of experience, as proposed by godfrey lienhardt in the beginning of the sixties, this paper intends to discuss the singularity of the anthropological perspective. this is done by confronting the nature of the knowledges the anthropologist applies with those hold by the people she or he works with. the main point is to demonstrate that the singularity of the anthropological work lies is the construction of ethnographic theories that cannot be assimilated to native theories or to possible scientific theories.
O dom e a inicia??o revisitados: o dado e o feito em religi?es de matriz africana no brasil
Goldman, Marcio;
Mana , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-93132012000200002
Abstract: beginning with the known opposition between that which derives from the "gift" and that which derives from "initiation" in african-oriented religions in brazil, this work aims to ethnographically demonstrate that said dualism actually conceals a triadism. the unfolding of ethnographic analysis in the article will, however, lead us to replace this triadism with a model that is simultaneously unified and multiple. in this, "participation" (in its multiple meanings) should have a place next to the "gift" and "initiation" and the three categories should be construed as updates of a single under-lying principle.
SEGMENTARIDADES E MOVIMENTOS NEGROS NAS ELEI??ES DE ILHéUS
Goldman, Marcio;
Mana , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-93132001000200003
Abstract: assuming that processes of segmentation are not necessarily opposed to those linked to the state, this article seeks to explore the ways through which the segmentary divisions characteristic of black movement groups in ilhéus can function simultaneously as forms of resistance and as nodal points for mechanisms which are dependent on a state logic. it is a matter of emphasising both the processes of "capture" used by the state and the resistances mobilized by the segmentary formations. from a theoretical perspective, the aim of the article is to show that the application to our own society of categories traditionally developed to account for other cultures should cease to be a simple metaphor or stylistic resource and become an instrument of observation and interpretation. for this to be achieved, these categories must be transformed and made flexible, which also produces effects on the analysis of these "other cultures"
Poder e resistência: um ensaio sobre a dimens?o conceitual do "Império"
Goldman, Marcio;
Mana , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-93132003000200006
Abstract: this essay explores the conceptual dimensions of empire by michael hardt and antonio negri. in basic terms, it takes the authors seriously when they claim the notion is not a metaphor nor a description, but a concept. linking this claim to the constructivist philosophy of gilles deleuze and félix guattari, it argues that the book is an attempt to transpose a series of new conceptions of power developed over the 1960s and 70s onto the plane of concrete political, historical and ethnographic analysis. the essay also aims to show in the process that the concept of 'empire' only really becomes operative when accompanied by its correlate 'multitude' - like the former, a conceptual entity that not only enables us to analyze the present but also to discern lines of action in the spaces it traces.
Histórias, devires e fetiches das religi?es afro-brasileiras: ensaio de simetriza??o antropológica
Goldman,Marcio;
Análise Social , 2009,
Abstract: starting out from discussion of the current state of afro-brazilian studies, this article addresses the recently revived debate over formerly widely disseminated ideas concerning "the fetish" and "fetishism". it first examines how that debate has been conducted in studies of afro-brazilian religions, using bibliographical and field-work data on one of those religions - candomblé - to describe the native theory of the creation process which underlies that which outsiders have labelled "fetish" and "fetishism". briefly, the theory holds that process of creation actualizes existing virtualities rather than producing, out of nothing, our judaeo-christian and capitalist cosmology.
O uso da teoria do julgamento social no estudo de políticas públicas
Carvalho, Marcio;
Cadernos EBAPE.BR , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-39512005000200006
Abstract: due to the complexities surrounding the analysis on the public sector policies, managers apply formal models that help them in the decision-making process and evaluating eventual impact of their propositions on the public sector as a whole. among these models, social judgment theory has being used to evaluate not only the managers' decision-making process, but also verifying how such process can be improved fulfilling demands of the public sector. this article presents an introduction to the social judgment theory and it also comments some limitations and suggestions in terms of applying this theory in the brazilian context.
Política social na periferia do capitalismo: a situa??o recente no Brasil
Pochmann,Marcio;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232007000600010
Abstract: located on the fringe of global capitalism, lacking an international currency and endowed with weak technology production and dissemination capacities, brazil is developing its own very specific approach to social welfare policies. its 1988 constitution ushered in acknowledged progress in these policies during the past two decades, despite constraints due to the general behavior of its lackluster economy, with rising unemployment and a shrinking job pool. in parallel, the semi-stagnation of its per capita income has been paced by a steady stream of tax adjustments, hobbling more recent developments in social spending. all these efforts often achieve little more than upholding the wealth financialization cycle, mainly for the tiny portion of society holding public debt papers. an analysis of this specifically brazilian situation leads to a better understanding of missed opportunities for cutting away many of brazil's social shackles, as welfare policies have significant impacts on lower-income segments of the population.
Resistant bacteria in stem cell transplant recipients
Nucci, Marcio;
Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-84842002000300009
Abstract: bacterial infections account for most infections in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. while early mortality reduced dramatically with the introduction of the concept of empirical antibiotic therapy in neutropenic patients, no effect of prophylaxis on the mortality was observed in many studies. on the other hand, antibiotic prophylaxis has resulted in the emergence of resistance among bacteria. in addition, the choice of the antibiotic regimen for empirical therapy and the practices of antibiotic therapy during neutropenia may result in a significant shift in the pattern of bacterial infections. the use of quinolones and vancomycin as prophylaxis, and of carbapenems and vancomycin in the empirical antibiotic therapy, are associated with the appearance of resistant gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. therefore, hematologists must be aware of the impact of these practices on the emergence of infections due to multi-resistant pathogens, since these infections may be associated with increased mortality.
