Superficial modifications in TiO2 and Al2O3 ceramics

Materials Research , 2003,
Abstract: The properties of hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity of materials are defined mainly, though not exclusively, by their composition, morphology and surface energy. In this work, titanium dioxide (TiO2) and aluminum oxide-alumina (Al2O3) ceramics prepared by uniaxial pressing were studied in terms of surface energy. The surfaces of these ceramics were treated with nitrogen plasma, using a stainless steel reactor excited by a 13,6 MHz radio frequency operating at 50 W input power and 13 Pa nitrogen pressure. The surface morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Surface energy and contact angle measurements were taken using a RAMé-HART goniometer. These measurements were taken as function of time, over a 21-day period. The contact angle and surface energy values were found to change by almost 34% in comparison to their initial values immediately following plasma treatment. Nonetheless, the hydrophilic character of the Al2O3 and TiO2 remained constant throughout the test period.
A finan a mundializada e a consolida o da hegemonia burguesa na fase atual do capitalismo (World fi nance and the consolidation of bourgeois hegemony in current capitalism)
Marcelo Paula Melo
Revista Emancipa??o , 2009,
Abstract: This article addresses key issues in the consolidation of bourgeois domination in the beginning of the 21st century. The process of financialization of expanded reproduction capital caused the various bourgeois divisions to operate in the financial sector. This has represented an intensification of labor exploitation by the need to value capital that is not related to the productive sector, therefore, creating a process which indicates a form of capital that generates interest on its own, but which is in fact based on exploitation.

Marcelo Paula Melo
Revista Emancipa??o , 2007,
Terceira VIA: atualidade e crítica (Third Way: present state and criticism)
Marcelo Paula Melo
Revista Emancipa??o , 2010,
Abstract: The Third Way policies are regarded as an update of the bourgeois policies to consolidate their domination in our time. With a mission to update the foundations of the neoliberal project, while acknowledging the achievements that enabled the current correlation of forces, the Third Way policies found space in various governments and parties that, despite maintaining their ties to past organizers of the left, now serve as a means for bourgeois domination, as is the case in Brazil. This article aims at arguing how the Third Way political project also serves to guide the bourgeois domination in our time.
