Boeri, Marcelo D.;
Diánoia , 2009,
Abstract: this is the reply to cordero's and mittelmann's objections to my book apariencia y realidad en el pensamiento griego. in my main reply to cordero i show that, even in the sophist, where the propositional aspect of knowledge is mostly emphasized, plato himself suggests the idea of knowledge in the dispositionsal sense. i reply to mittelmann's objections that (i), even though aristotle does not use the word "criterion", this does not mean that he lacks the concept. in my reply to objection (ii) i suggest that, as is pointed out by the aristotelian text on which my thesis is based (de insom-niis 460b3-4), aristotle is not considering the perception of proper sensibles, which is free of error or admits the least possible amount of error (de anima 428b18-19), but the perception in its transensorial sense.
Boeri,Marcelo D;
Estudios de Filosofía , 2009,
Abstract: this essay intends to show that, despite the relevance of alexander's interpretation of aristotle's agent intellect (the intellect that alexander indentifies with god), such an interpretation cannot be right due to reasons of systematic order that go against some basic aristotelian premisses, both ontological in general and noetical and psychological in particular. in the development of his essay, boeri highlights some arguments and explanations provided by pseudo philoponus, who (rightly according to him) is concerned with encompassing the issue of the intellect on the psychological side, which presupposes that the intellect must have a bodily support. a consequence of this examination, boeri suggests (i) that not only alexander's interpretation of intellect does not constitute a correct exegesis of aristotle's de anima iii 5, but that (ii), when identifying the agent intellect with the intellect "coming from without", with god, and with the first cause, alexander introduces an important incoherence within his own psychological conception, which acknowledges aristotle's thesis that the psychological states "exist" through the body.
Boeri, Marcelo D.;
Boeri,Marcelo D;
Revista latinoamericana de filosof?-a , 2009,
Abstract: according to the stoics, causation (aition) must be regarded as a triadic process: a (a body) becomes a cause to b (another body) of an incorporeal effect (i.e. a predicate). this paper intends to account for how this causal model is applied to the cosmic causation taking place between pne?ma pervading all things (one of whose functions is to hold together i.e. it is a 'cohesive' power, the whole) and the passive (unqualified matter). in addition, it is argued (against bobzien) for the distinction between 'cause' (aition) and 'causal account' (aitia) as a genuine stoic tenet.
MOORE′S LAW EVALUATION AND PROPOSAL OF AN ALTERNATIVE FORECASTING MODEL BASED ON TREND EXTRAPOLATION AVALIA O DA LEI DE MOORE E PROPOSTA DE UM MODELO DE PREVIS O ALTERNATIVO BASEADO EM TéCNICAS DE EXTRAPOLA O DE TENDêNCIAS
Marcelo D'Emidio
Future Studies Research Journal : Trends and Strategies , 2010, DOI: 10.7444/future.v1i2.11
Abstract: This study′s core objective is to validate whether the model proposed by Moore (1975) - also known as Moore’s Law – adequately describes the technological evolution of microprocessors. It further poses to verify whether this model is a feasible predictive tool and, finally, present an alternative model. To this extent, the forecasting technique method, based on historical data projections, will be applied. Statistical tests employed presented strong indications that the method proposed by Moore (1975) adequately described the evolution of processor component numbers during the 70s, 80s and 90s. As to the 2000s, however, the same cannot be affirmed and consequently the present study encountered grounding for the need to adapt the model to enable its application as a predictive tool. Key-words: Moore’s Law. Forecast. Technological evolution.
Cuestiones conceptuales
Marcelo Díaz Soto
Revista Chilena de Neuropsicologia , 2012, DOI: 10.5839/rcnp.2012.0701.03
Abstract: In this paper we approach two controversial perspectives to be found in some philosophical approach to consciousness, the first one deals with the different uses of the terms “consciousness” and “to be aware of” so as to identify theirs uses which appears to be unsettling for neurobiologists and philosophers. For neurobiologists the contentious aspect lies on the concept of subjectivity, and for a philosopher in the category of qualia. The second one consists in upholding the thesis that puts into doubt the explicative character of the great majority of the materialist perspectives underlying current explanations of consciousness and qualia.

According to the Stoics, causation (aition) must be regarded as a triadic process: A (a body) becomes a cause to B (another body) of an incorporeal effect (i.e. a predicate). This paper intends to account for how this causal model is applied to the cosmic causation taking place between pne ma pervading all things (one of whose functions is to hold together i.e. it is a 'cohesive' power, the whole) and the passive (unqualified matter). In addition, it is argued (against Bobzien) for the distinction between 'cause' (aition) and 'causal account' (aitia) as a genuine Stoic tenet.

Sobre lo aparente y lo real: respuesta a Néstor L. Cordero y a Jorge Mittelmann On What Is Apparent and Real: A Reply to Néstor L. Cordero and Jorge Mittelmann
Marcelo D. Boeri
This is the reply to Cordero's and Mittelmann's objections to my book Apariencia y realidad en el pensamiento griego.
SIMULA O COM JOGOS DE MONTAR: UM INSTRUMENTO DE ENSINO PARA O PLANEJAMENTO E PROGRAMA O DE OBRAS

Engevista , 2010,
Abstract: Simulations and educational games are tools that can aid the process of teaching various areasof engineering. This paper aims to discuss the use of games as a teaching tool for engineering students indisciplines of planning and programming of works. For this, we performed a simulation of planning andconstruction of a set of 16 houses with a mounting game. Initially, students draw up a schedule using thetechnique of the Line of Balance. The next phase is the assembly of the houses, controling the execution timeof each stage for real time confrontation with programming. In case of deviations from the plan, studentsmust make decisions to correct deviations and complete the project within the initially stipulated time. It isobserved that the use of games is well accepted by students of engineering, with the greatest interest in theclassroom, as well as the issues discussed. The simulation provided a better understanding of concepts, aswell as the possibility of practical use of such concepts in a situation that simulates the reality of a simplerway. We conclude that, although still little used in the process of higher education, games and simulationsare an important tool for engineering education, because they facilitate the assimilation of certain conceptsand allow students the possibility of practical application of theory.
