M nnlichkeiten von rechts Masculinities from the Right
Marc Grtner
querelles-net , 2004,
Oliver Geden, doctoral candidate at the Institute for European Ethnology at the Humboldt University in Berlin, examines concepts of masculinity in the contemporary populist right—a theme for which there, surprisingly, have long been no relevant studies available. Using party materials and interviews, he reconstructs strategic positions on masculinity and gender relations at differing organizational levels of the Austrian “Haider Party,“ or Austria’s Freedom Party (FP ). Instead of a monolithic “Neo-Macho-Project,“ he finds at the party’s core not only admittedly similar attempts at traditionalization at all levels, but also perspectives on the gender thematic that, based on context, range from the pragmatic, to the insecure, to the neo-naturalist. By including group interviews of the party’s youth organizations, the publication is lent a particular explosive energy. Geden analyzes the ethical implications for method and research as brilliantly as he does the central theme itself.
Grtner, Angelika;
Pandaemonium Germanicum , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1982-88372011000200013
Abstract: the article focuses on loan words, language mixtures and the continuous code switching specifically of residents of german origin from s?o bento do sul, federal state of santa catarina. it deals with loan words of portuguese lexemes such as interjections, formulaic expressions, negations, subjunctions/conjunctions and some special cases of portuguese constructions. using various segments of spoken language and short analyses the special forms of german-brazilian language contact are presented in exemplary form.
Conflicts between employee preferences and ergonomic recommendations in shift scheduling: regulation based on consent is not sufficient
Grtner,Johannes;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-89102004000700010
Abstract: objective: contribution to the discussion of the role of participation/consent of employees in working hours regulation. methods: exploratory analysis of conflicts between preferences of employees and ergonomic recommendations in shift scheduling by analysing a large number of participative shift scheduling projects. results: the analysis showed that very often the pursuit of higher income played the major role in the decision making process of employees and employees preferred working hours in conflict with health and safety principles. conclusions: first, the consent of employees or the works council alone does not ensure ergonomically sound schedules. besides consent, risk assessment procedures seem to be a promising but difficult approach. secondly, more research is necessary to check the applicability of recommendations under various settings, to support the risk assessment processes and to improve regulatory approaches to working hours.

Abstract:
-- The macrostructure of Ovid's Metamorphoses is a hitherto unsolved problem. Earlier studies entirely ignore the structure of books given by the author and impose a disposition totally alien to the transmitted grouping of books. On the other hand, more recent approaches emphasize the division of the poem into 15 books and try especially to demonstrate that five book groups are the main structural principle in order to draw from this far reaching conclusions. Deviating from these approaches, the present article intends to dismiss the thesis of a macrostructural order of epochs and rather to understand the single books as autonomous structural units which owe their attractiveness to the tension arising between two main parts of either epic or elegiac content. This tension characterizes the whole of the single books as reading units and also the transitions between single books.
überlegungen zu den Theognideen
Grtner, Thomas
Studia Humaniora Tartuensia , 2007,
Abstract: The following remarks concerning textual criticism are not intended to extrapolate from the Byzantine redactions any kind of "Ur-Theognis", i.e. to reconstruct archaic elegies, from which the transmitted verses might have arisen by being repeatedly excerpted. Rather they start from the fact that the individual pieces as presented in West′s editions are on the one hand text segments of high and concise stylistic quality, while on the other they have become heavily corrupt. Corrupt pieces of text may be recognized and emended by the process of text-immanent observation. Consequently immanent textual criticism without recurrence to an "Ur-Theognis" seems to be possible.
Higher Massey products in the cohomology of mild pro-p-groups
Jochen Grtner
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: Translating results due to J. Labute into group cohomological language, A. Schmidt proved that a finitely presented pro-p-group G is mild and hence of cohomological dimension cd G=2 if $H^1(G,\F_p)=U\oplus V$ as $\F_p$-vector space and the cup-product $H^1(G,\F_p)\otimes H^1(G,\F_p)\to H^2(G,\F_p)$ maps $U\otimes V$ surjectively onto $H^2(G,\F_p)$ and is identically zero on $V\otimes V$. This has led to important results in the study of p-extensions of number fields with restricted ramification, in particular in the case of tame ramification. In this paper, we extend Labute's theory of mild pro-p-groups with respect to weighted Zassenhaus filtrations and prove a generalization of the above result for higher Massey products which allows to construct mild pro-p-groups with defining relations of arbitrary degree. We apply these results for one-relator pro-p-groups and obtain some new evidence of an open question due to Serre.
Rédei symbols and arithmetical mild pro-2-groups
Jochen Grtner
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: Generalizing results of Morishita and Vogel, an explicit description of the triple Massey product for the Galois group $G_S(2)$ of the maximal 2-extension of $\mathbb{Q}$ unramified outside a finite set of prime numbers $S$ containing 2 is given in terms of R\'edei symbols. We show that mild pro-2-groups with Zassenhaus invariant 3 occur as Galois groups of the form $G_S(2)$. Furthermore, a non-analytic mild fab pro-2-group having only 3 generators is constructed .
Ranking Unit Squares with Few Visibilities
Bernd Grtner
Computer Science , 2008,
Abstract: Given a set of n unit squares in the plane, the goal is to rank them in space in such a way that only few squares see each other vertically. We prove that ranking the squares according to the lexicographic order of their centers results in at most 3n-7 pairwise visibilities for n at least 4. We also show that this bound is best possible, by exhibiting a set of n squares with at least 3n-7 pairwise visibilities under any ranking.
