Seroprevalencia de anticuerpos contra Toxoplasma gondii en gestantes del municipio Palavecino,estado Lara, Venezuela

Abstract: the sero-prevalence of anti-toxoplasma gondii antibodies in 446 pregnant women with ages ranging from 15 to 43 years of age, living in the cabudare and agua viva population, lara state, venezuela, was determined by using a commercial indirect hemagglutination test and considering titers 3 1:16 as a positive reaction. under this condition, 169 samples were positive (38%), 1:256 the most frequent titer (21%) and proportional increase of seroprevalence with age was observed.

Abstract: Background: The parasites are a health problem.Objective: To determine the prevalence of intestinal parasites instudents and school representatives.Methods: We assessed a descriptive and cross sectional study,which examined 204 individuals (114 children and 90 parents orguardians), analyzing their stool with techniques of saline solution,Lugol and Kato.Results: The frequency of intestinal parasitosis was 42.65%(73,6% for monoparasites and 26,4% multiparasitic) predominantlybetween 11 and 14 years. 59% were female and 47,7%; were male.The parasites found: Blastocystis hominis (71,3%), Endolimaxnana (26,4%), Giardia lamblia (13,8%), Entamoeba coli (11,5%),Entamoeba histolytica (3.5%), Iodamoeba butschlii (1.2%), Chilomastixmesnili (1,2%), Trichuris trichiura (1,2%) and Enterobiusvermicularis (1,2%).Conclusion: The relationship where the common presence of parasiteswas found. Only 18.1% of households had one or more parasitesin common, which seems to suggest that the infection in notnecessarily produced in the home. -RESUMEN: Introducción: Las parasitosis constituyen un problema de salud.Objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia de enteroparásitos en estudiantesy representantes de la escuela “Veragacha”.Material y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo ytransversal, donde se estudiaron 204 individuos (114 ni os y 90padres/representantes), analizando sus heces con las técnicas de soluciónsalina, lugol y Kato.Resultados: Se encontró una frecuencia de parasitosis intestinalde 42,65% (73,6% monoparasitados y 26,4% poliparasitados) predominandoentre los 11 y 14 a os (59%) y en el sexo masculino(47,7%); los parásitos diagnosticados fueron: Blastocystis hominis(71,3%), Endolimax nana (26,4%), Giardia lamblia (13,8%), Entamoebacoli (11,5%), Entamoeba histolytica (3,5%), Iodamoebabutschlii (1,2%), Chilomastix mesnili (1,2%), Trichuris trichiura(1,2%) y Enterobius vermicularis (1,2%).Conclusión: En la relación alumno-representante donde se indagóla presencia común de parásitos en cada familia, solo el 18,1% delos hogares, presentó uno o más parásitos en común, lo que hacepresumir que la infección no necesariamente se produjo en el hogar.

Abstract: it is reported the first human case of paramphistomatidae infection (fischoeder, 1901) in venezuela, belonging to a primitive family of trematodes which are described in mammals, reptiles and fish, in mammals have been identified in the rumen and reticulum of ruminants, pigs, horses, goats and cattle. the clinical case belongs to a ten-year-old girl from portuguesa state, who had a year of evolution: diffuse abdominal pain, nausea with vomiting that match the stool expulsion of adult parasitic structures. eggs were collected inside the genital pore of adult parasites while the patient?s stool showed the same ovigerous structures. the parasite is defined as paramphistomatidae family by means of its morphological and morphometric analysis. the girl comes from a large family group with protein-calorie deficient nutrition who eats products coming from the river near her home, which is located in a dispersed rural area with poor socio-sanitary conditions and is surrounded by rice fields, with large areas that are subject to flooding during the year. this parasite is not described in venezuela so studies will be undertaken to identify it accurately and to identify the hosts involved in the cycle.

Abstract: Para determinar la contaminación de lechugas con enteroparásitos, se analizaron 100 muestras (50 lechuga americana y 50 lechuga romana) cultivadas en tres lugares distintos, Timotes y Bailadores (estado Mérida) y Chejendé (estado Trujillo) y expendidas en cuatro mercados diferentes del estado Lara: Terepaima, Cabudare, Las Trinitarias y Central. Las lechugas fueron procesadas según la técnica de álvarez et al, modificada, detectando contaminación en el 29% de las muestras (16 LA y 13 LR) identificándose los siguientes enteroparásitos Strongyloides sp. (16); Anquilostomideos (5); Entamoeba histolytica (5); Entamoeba coli (5); Ooquistes de Toxoplasma gondii (4); Toxocara sp. (1); Blastocystis hominis (1) y Endolimax nana (1). Abstract: from january 2000 to january 2004, the frequency of enteroparasites was determined in 3 060 patients (1 356 males and 1 704 females) aged one month to95 years, who came from cabudane (urban area) 10° 02′10′′ nl - 69° 15′41′′ wl and from agua viva(periurban area) 10° 02′ nl- 69° 17′wl, in palavecino municipality located in the state of lara, venezuela. a cross-sectional descriptive study was applied in this zone characterized by semi-arid warm climate and tropical dry forest-type vegetation. a coproparasitological study was performed through direct examination (0,85% saline solution and lugol) and kato′s concentrate techniques. this study detected 1 439 infected people (47%) where blastocytis hominis was the most frequent parasite with 842 individuals (27,5%), followed by endolimax nana (9,1%),entamoeba coli (8,8%), giardia lamblia (6,5%), entamoeba histolytica (3,8%), iodamoeba butschilii (2%), pentatrichomonas hominis(0,9%), chilomastix mesnili (0,5%), dientamoeba fragilis (0,4%), balantidium coli(0,03%), ascaris lumbricoides (3,7%), trichuris trichiura(3%), hymenolepis nana(0,3%),enterobius vermicularis (0,1%),strongyloides stercoralis (0,03%) and ancylostomideos (0,03%).

Abstract: Se determinó, entre enero de 2000 a enero de 2004 la frecuencia de enteroparásitos en 3 060 pacientes (1 356 masculinos y 1 704 femeninos) con edades comprendidas entre 1 mes y 95 a os, procedentes de las poblaciones de Cabudare (zona urbana) 10o 02' 10'' LN - 69o 15' 41'' LO y de Agua Viva (zona periurbana) 10o 02' LN - 69o 17' LO, ambas pertenecientes al municipio Palavecino del estado Lara, Venezuela, con un clima semiárido, cálido y una vegetación de tipo bosque seco tropical, donde se aplicó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. Se realizó un estudio coproparasitológico utilizando las técnicas de examen directo (solución salina 0,85 % y lugol) y el concentrado de Kato, detectándose 1 439 infectados (47 %) donde Blastocystis hominis fue el parásito más abundante con 842 individuos infectados (27,5 %), seguido de Endolimax nana (9,1 %), Entamoeba coli (8,8 %), Giardia lamblia (6,5 %), Entamoeba histolytica (3,8 %), Iodamoeba butschlii (2 %), Pentatrichomonas hominis (0,9 %), Chilomastix mesnili (0,5 %), Dientamoeba fragilis (0,4 %), Balantidium coli (0,03 %), Ascaris lumbricoides (3,7 %), Trichuris trichiura (3 %), Hymenolepis nana (0,3 %), Enterobius vermicularis (0,1 %), Strongyloides stercoralis (0,03 %) y Ancylostomideos ( 0,03 %). Se hace hincapié en el papel de avanzada que desempe ó el periódico El Día desde su fundación (1964) en la valoración del trabajo de las mujeres en la prensa y se precisa, asimismo, que en el ámbito de la opinión y los puestos directivos el papel de la mujer periodista es aún limitado.
