American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2014.54062

Chemical extraction methods are generally used to evaluate trace element concentrations in soils. The adequacy of these soil tests is commonly assessed by comparing the extraction results with the metal contents in the plants. In this study, soil and leaf samples were collected in the southwest area of the Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Garlic (Allium sativum L.), onion (Allium cepa L.) and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) are species of great regional economic importance. These crops need good mineral nutrition for optimum growth and sustainable production. Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe micronutrient uptake by plants was analyzed together with the trace element contents in the soil in which those plants were grown. A single EDTA-extraction procedure was performed to determine soil micronutrients. The amount of extractable-trace elements increased as the concentration of the chelating agent EDTA increased. The range of total element content in soil was: 15.68-31.5 mg·kg-1 for Cu, 75.0-386.3 mg·kg-1 for Zn, 542.5 -1686 mg·kg-1 for Mn and 28,325

Abstract: Introduction: We present the results of scientific and traditional knowledge, which were performed on students attending the School of Dental Surgery at the Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza UNAM and parents in the Milpa Alta policy delegation of the Federal District with the purpose to articulate such knowledge for planning oral health programs where the protection and promotion of oral health are prioritized. Method: This study was qualitative and quantitative, and 413 students of the career Dentist Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza UNAM and 2100 parents of twelve elementary school of the Milpa Alta delegation participated. Results: One of the results was that almost a third (28%) of the students go to the dentist only when they need to, however 40% of parents said they go to consultation only when they start to experience pain. Conclusion: It is important to articulate scientific knowledge with the traditional and famed in Odontology, for the operation alization of health programs attached to particular contexts where all stakeholders are involved to prevent oral problems.
Influencia de las tradiciones ancestrales en la alimentación de la población rural del departamento de Santa María, provincia de Catamarca
Rebellato,María del Pilar;
Diaeta , 2010,
Abstract: the aim of this work was to describe the ways of obtaining, preparing and consuming food by rural people in the district of santa maría, in the province of catamarca, argentina. the influence and persistence of ancestral traditions was analyzed through a single descriptive transversal and correlative study including exploratory and inferential data. the sample consisted of 222 women from the region. the sampling unit was each home, where one woman was interviewed. the prevailing means of obtaining food was purchasing and agriculture. natural resources were used through shepherding and the harvesting of autochthonous plants and fruits. the whole family got and prepared food, but the mother was the one mainly in charge. the exchange or barter of basic food and its procurement through the mita labor system was scarce. boiling and stewing were the prevailing cooking methods and gas was the most used fuel. however, traditional cooking methods such as firewood and carbon either pure or in combination with modern methods were also used by a great number of families. food preserves were usual, with practices such as salting and sun drying. traditional meals alternated with no traditional ones were the most consumed foods, as well as traditional desserts. between meals, people preferred traditional drinks. recipes were passed on through generations and parents taught cooking to the present generations. because of health problems, original recipes were changed either in the preparation methods or the ingredients. regional foods were accepted and foreign foods were underestimated and negatively qualified. as a conclusion, most rural people from the district of santa maría maintained their traditions as regards the obtaining, preparation and type of foods consumed, as well as in the way of transmitting their food culture to the following generations.
El papel de la molienda en la transición hacia la producción agropastoril: Un análisis desde la Puna Meridional argentina
Babot,María del Pilar;
Estudios atacame?os , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-10432006000200007
Abstract: a characterization of grinding technology from ca. 6500 ap to late agro-pastoralist times at antofagasta de la sierra in southern argentinean puna, is made. grinding efficiency and intensity concepts are used to analyze modifications on technology. as a result, three moments of change in the organization of grinding practice are established. they may be related to increasing intensification between ca. 6500-1100 ap.
Jorge Edwards: tras las huellas de la verdad
Vila,María del Pilar;
Estudios filológicos , 1999, DOI: 10.4067/S0071-17131999003400004
Abstract: this work analyses jorge edwards' novel el origen del mundo (1996). it starts by placing the chilean writer in the setting of the generation of the 50s, describing his literary influences and the importance the city has in his writings. the novel, built as a story of love and intrigue, encompasses themes which are very important for edwards' narrative such as the loss of illusions, old age and the failure of many intellectuals. at the same time it enacts a theme which is present in all his writings: the representation of reality.
Michel Foucault: Del orden del discurso a una pragmática de lo múltiple
Britos,María del Pilar;
T?3picos , 2003,
Abstract: the foucaultian perspective is exposed in this essay, as a proposal of an analysis of the relation between speech and action that puts an end to the duality between both terms. the axis of the proposal consists in indicating that discourse order is not solved in its propositional movement, but in the effects of its strategical occurrence. a new problematization of discursive practices is set up, so as to detect, in the unstable thickness of the enunciative spaces, the forms of regularity that govern them. considering that the status of discourse coincides with the actuality of 'what is said', what is under discussion does no longer concern the text's consistency, but the strength that its statements exert on the surface of cultural practices.at the same time, the possibility of dealing with the legitimacy of action by reviewing its discursive justification is left behind, and the mechanisms of stabilization of the truth policies that consolidate discursive formations are cross-examined. from a critical perspective that claims itself to be antidialectic, the categories of foucaultian analysis seek to restore the tension between discourse order and a pragmatics of the multiple.
La problematización de la relación con la verdad: Interrogantes a partir de la lectura de Foucault
Britos,María del Pilar;
T?3picos , 2005,
Abstract: in this work, the fundamental lines of the foucaultian analysis of the relation between subjects and truth are exposed in terms of ethical problematization. regarding the moments investigated by foucault, the contrast is made to stand out between the epistemic regime of the dispositifs that have hegemonized this problematization starting from the 19th century and the way in which they articulate knowledge and care in the practiques de soi of the ancient greco-latin culture. thus, two relational figures seem to shape themselves up: knowledge and action oriented to the souci de soi, and the hermeneutics of the subject as key mechanism of the volonté de savoir. considering the limits of a binary reading, we raise the issue of making some room for the current questionings concerning the relation between games of truth and the constitution of subjectivity, in the tension between both figures.

Chungará (Arica) , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-73562011000300006
Abstract: current knowledge on useful plants in hunter-gatherers from northwestern argentina is discussed, and the study of processing tools is proposed as a way to fill the lacking of information that macrobotanical remains could not cover. microfossils in use-residues from hunter-gatherers grinding stone tools recovered at antofagasta de la sierra, southern argentinian puna (ca. 7,000-3,200 years bp), are analyzed. results show a progressive and durable acquisition and processing of local and exotic useful plants by these groups with food purposes and to artifact production, including wild and early domestic resources and other in-process to domestication of possible in situ production. data obtained are discussed in the background of contemporary processes occurred at argentinian puna and salar de atacama area in chile.
La cocina, el taller y el ritual: explorando las trayectorias del procesamiento vegetal en el noroeste argentino
Babot,María del Pilar;
Darwiniana , 2009,
Abstract: this work explores the trajectories of plant resources in northwestern argentina by means of material evidences of food processing, artefact production and psicoactive consumption. evidences of useful plants from different archaeological sites located at puna, prepuna and valliserrana areas, between ca. 6500-400 years bp., are analyzed. every case study includes the milling and/or pounding of plant resources as one of several steps on their processing chains. this characteristic, particularly, allow us to identify the plant resources by means of their use residues (microscopic items such as microfossils) preserved on grinding tools surface (milling tools, mortars and pestles). ethnographic, ethnoarchaeological and historical information is used to propose modalities for the processing of different plant resources related to production chains of food, psicoactive items and artefacts.
