Configuración de territorios de violencia y control policial: corporalidades, emociones y relaciones sociales
Daich,Deborah; Pita,María Victoria; Sirimarco,Mariana;
Cuadernos de antropolog?-a social , 2007,
Abstract: this work is centered in the analysis of the processes of configuration of violent territories and police control as resultants of the network of social relations and practices that bind police groups with subjects and groups, regularly defined and typified by the same police agency as objects of their control and administration. it is focused, in that sense, in the analysis of the corporalities and emotions qua constructors of bodies, identities and social relations. this, because we understand sociability networks that reciprocally tie individuals by means of interdependences of diverse class, as those that outline the field of the everyday life on which the effective forms of control and violence are constructed and produced.
Miranda, Ana Paula Mendes de;Pita, María Victoria;
Revista de Sociologia e Política , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-44782011000300006
Abstract: this article emerges from our interest in producing a comparable data base for the metropolitan areas of rio de janeiro and buenos aires. our research reveals the need to identify the technical processes and political skills that, in brazil and argentina, give rise to particular modes of producing information on criminality. this, in turn, requires fleshing out the particular conditions that, in each case, turn official criminal data into the object of political disputes, and lead to intra- and inter-institutional conflicts - as well as turning it into the stuff of "public opinion", as the debate on public safety moves up on the list of public agenda priorities. this approach enables us to conclude that the figures speak more about the institutions that produce them than about criminality or violent deaths in the rio de janeiro or buenos aires metropolitan regions per se. therefore, in this article, we try to show that creating comparable data for metropolitan regions as near and as far buenos aires and rio de janeiro demands its part- by- part examination and disaggregation. only then can data be compared and read as an indicator of violent forms of conflict resolution.
Configuración de territorios de violencia y control policial: corporalidades, emociones y relaciones sociales
Deborah Daich,María Victoria Pita,Mariana Sirimarco
Moreno,María Victoria;
Acta Medica Colombiana , 2008,
Abstract: the case is described and discussed of a patient with contact dermatitis due to exposure to toxicodendron striatum or rhus striata, a tree known in some parts of colombia?s andean region as "manzanillo". this tree belongs to the anacardiaceae, a family of vascular plants whose sap has a large content of active principles. the noxious agent is urushiol, a mixture of alkylated ortho-benzenodioles or alkylated catechols, which can be saturated or unsaturated. urushiol is a colorless or pale yellow oil which is found in the plant?s leaves, stem and roots. the clinical picture begins with erythema, edema and formation of vesicles and papules. on occasion, extensive bullae can develop. these lesions are not confined to the contact zone, but appear on the rest of the skin, especially on skin folds. in the united states, this dermatitis is very frequent due to contact with other plants of the toxicodendron genus, such as poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac. the mechanism of urushiol-induced injury is eminently immunological, although this condition is often referred to as dermatitis caused by poisonous plants or dermatitis venenata, as if it were caused by irritative contact. in central and south america, dermatitis caused by t. striatum is widely known and feared by farmers and people who work in the woods. recommended treatment is washing with abundant water and soap within the first four hours after contact. all contaminated objects should also be washed. pharmacologic agents do not significantly shorten the course of the illness. lesions disappear within one or two weeks. it is highly advisable for clinicians to familiarize themselves with the mechanisms of injury and to understand the importance of education for the control of this condition.
