Luiz,María Teresa;
Mundo agrario , 2005,
Abstract: the study of cross-cultural processes in the colonial frontiers in latin america shows keys to explain the dynamics of interethnic relationships, acculturation experiences and construction of identities. likewise, the functioning of the colonial order can be analyzed from the ways the power relationships were structured in the areas where the aborigines preserved autonomy and crontrol of their territories and resources. hispanic-native relationships are studied from this theoretical point of view, in one of the last borders where the hispanic expansion got since the bourbon's duty imposed, that is the southernmost territories of río de la plata. analyzing the ways of interaction in the río negro fortress, we identified the hispanic-local and aboriginal strategies and recognize the stabilization of a transaction assemblage that defined a special regime of interchanges based on reciprocity. these political and economic practices favoured the maintenance of certain balance of forces, which is shown in the decrease of frontier struggle during the last decades of the colonial period.

Abstract: jesuit cartography serves as an exceptional sourcefor gaining access to the ways of production and use of the geographical and cartographic knowledge related to the southern borders of the spanish empire. taking into account that the maps produced by the missionaries from the society ofjesus were the first to explicitly incorporate the spatial knowledge of the local inhabitants, we examined the conditions for collecting information, the strategiesfor appropriation and organization ofindigenous lore and the reconciliation ofdifferent spatial conceptions and representations upon producing the map. considering the use made of the jesuit production, we have identified the main beneficiaries from this intimate knowledge. at the present study we examine the general maps ofpatagonia produced by alonso de ovalle (1646), josé cardiel (1746-1747, 1749y 1751) and thomas falkner (1772).

Electronic Journal of Biotechnology , 2012,
Abstract: xylella fastidiosa inhabits the plant xylem, a nutrient-poor environment, so that mechanisms to sense and respond to adverse environmental conditions are extremely important for bacterial survival in the plant host. although the complete genome sequences of different xylella strains have been determined, little is known about stress responses and gene regulation in these organisms. in this work, a dna microarray was constructed containing 2,600 orfs identified in the genome sequencing project of xylella fastidiosa 9a5c strain, and used to check global gene expression differences in the bacteria when it is infecting a symptomatic and a tolerant citrus tree. different patterns of expression were found in each variety, suggesting that bacteria are responding differentially according to each plant xylem environment. the global gene expression profile was determined and several genes related to bacterial survival in stressed conditions were found to be differentially expressed between varieties, suggesting the involvement of different strategies for adaptation to the environment. the expression pattern of some genes related to the heat shock response, toxin and detoxification processes, adaptation to atypical conditions, repair systems as well as some regulatory genes are discussed in this paper. dna microarray proved to be a powerful technique for global transcriptome analyses. this is one of the first studies of xylella fastidiosa gene expression in vivo which helped to increase insight into stress responses and possible bacterial survival mechanisms in the nutrient-poor environment of xylem vessels.

Revista Brasileira de Farmacognosia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-695X2009000300019
Abstract: ricinus communis l. belongs to the euphorbiaceae family, from whose fruits the ricin oil is extracted, highly toxic. in this study it was analyzed the effect of the extract of ricinus communis l. in the labeling of red blood cells with tc-99m through the radiochemical control. the results showed that in the radiochemical control through chromatography, it was observed that the extract labeled with tc-99m showed two fractions with 130.007 and 494.592 cpm, and in the labeling of red blood cells, with %ati of 61.88 and 41.32% in the fractions 1 and 2. it has been concluded that the extract of ricinus communis alters the captivating of tc-99m in vitro, competing with the radioactive material in the possible binding sites of the red blood cells, as well in the capacity of oxidation of the stannous ion or by competition with the pertechnetate ion.
Brachetta,María Teresa;
Abstract: this article explores the deep renovation in the ideological-cultural field that accompanies the return to democracy in the country, as well as the processes that bring about the formation of a new "cultural atmosphere". besides, through the conceptual and methodological news in the field, it analyses the production that aims at revisiting peronism at that time. in so doing, it attempts to tackle the continuity of the lines of the debate that started in previous decades, as well as a whole new line that at the beginning of the 80s began with the analyses of the "cultural battle" between politicians and intellectuals brought about by peronism after its first decline. the magnetism of peronism over the historiographical field in the 60s and 70s acquires a renewed vigour in the 80s, due to the political and ideological disputes and controversies in the interior of this political tradition in the period of the democratic transition. this new production is undoubtedly a fundamental chapter in the historiography of peronism, which continues in the following decades and inspires new readings. in this sense, this article attempts to join old and new ideas in the historiographical field, modulated by the changes in peronism as a political force since its electoral defeat against radicalism in 1983.
Poblete,María Teresa;
Estudios filológicos , 2002, DOI: 10.4067/S0071-17132002003700007
Abstract: the purpose of this study is to identify and classify occurrences of ellipsis in question-answer and other rejoinder sequences in the interview, to establish its contribution to oral textual coherence. sociolinguistic variations derived from strata, age and sex of participants are also described. the corpus was taken from eighteen interviews to valdivian speakers, men and women, divided into three social strata and three age groups. the results show the significant presence of ellipsis in communicative interactions, its contribution to topic progression and to the coherence of the oral texts analyzed. the sociolinguistic variation shows to be derived from the speakers' decisions with respect to what they say, and their attitudes towards the interviewer's observations (questions and other utterances). the interviewees' attitude showed significant differences among strata, between men and women, and between the youngest generation and the two older ones.
Pinto,María Teresa;
Análisis Político , 2005,
Abstract: bolivia is the only country of south america which has gone through a popular revolution of important political and social dimensions. it had to support one of the most severe and repressive dictatorships of the andean region and at present has encountered democratic stability. which factors help to explain this trajectory? and, furthermore, what factors have contributed to establish the democratic periods in this country? this article attempts to compare such democratic processes through points of encounter which permit to respond these questions, besides knowing the conditions which favor the government alliances and democratic stability and not authoritarian stability. the authoress uses yashar?s methodological approximation which proposes to analyze coalitions in favor of the establishment of democracy in a determined country.
