Abstract: Entre las causas determinantes para el incremento de los valores de la presión arterial, se sabe que tanto las de origen genético como las ambientales desempe an un importante papel, clasificando como una enfermedad multifactorial. Las bases genéticas de la enfermedad están firmemente establecidas y el desarrollo en el campo de la genética molecular ha sido vertiginoso por lo que el avance en el conocimiento de las alteraciones genéticas causantes de la hipertensión arterial resulta de gran importancia. Se realizó una revisión sobre los diferentes estudios efectuados recientemente en relación con las bases genéticas de la hipertensión arterial. La información aportada por estos análisis en el futuro, resulta muy importante para la selección de pacientes de alto riesgo, puesta en marcha de medidas preventivas adecuadas, así como el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos y terapia individualizada. It is known that among the main causes of the increase in high blood pressure levels, the causes of both genetic origin and environmental origin play an important role, thus classifying it as a multifactor disease. The genetic bases are well established in the disease and the development in the field of molecular genetics has been vertiginous. That is the reason why the advances in the knowledge of the genetic alterations that cause high blood pressure are of paramount importance. A review about the different studies that were carried out recently in relation to the genetic basis of high blood pressure was made. The information shown for the future in these analyses is of great importance for high-risk patients' selection, the implementation of adequate preventive measures and the development of both new drugs and individualized therapy.
Desarrollo de tomate en sustratos de vermicompost/arena bajo condiciones de invernadero

Abstract: the development of tomatoes (lycopersicon esculentum mill.) cv. flora-dade, was evaluated, under greenhouse conditions, using different mixtures of vermicompost/sand, at comarca lagunera (101o40? w long; 25o05? n lat), in northern méxico. four types of vermicomposts were studied, generated by the decomposing action of earthworms (eisenia foetida sav.), on the following materials: a) horse manure; b) horse manure + goat manure with alfalfa (medicago sativa l.) straw (1:1, v:v); c) goat manure with alfalfa straw; and d) goat manure with alfalfa straw + garden residues (mainly grass and leaves) (1:1 v:v)). the composition of mixtures of vermicompost/sand evaluated, based on a weight of 15 kg, was 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 and 100:0 (%). a total of 17 treatments were evaluated (four vermicomposts x four levels each plus a control) with four replicates each. a completely randomized design was used and averages were compared by the lsd test (5%). it was established that three of the variables evaluated in tomatoes had significant differences: soluble solids (°brix), number of clusters (p ≤ 0.01) and number of fruit per plant (p ≤ 0.05), for treatments with mixtures of vermicompost/sand 25:75 and 50:50 (%), while fruit diameter, plant height and yield did not show any statistical differences between treatments evaluated.

Abstract: Se evaluó el desarrollo del tomate (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) var. Flora-Dade, bajo condiciones de invernadero, utilizando diferentes mezclas de vermicompost/arena, en la Comarca Lagunera (101o40’ long. Oeste; 25o05’ lat. Norte), al norte de México. Se estudiaron cuatro tipos de vermicompost, generados por la acción de descomposición de las lombrices de tierra (Eisenia foetida Sav.), sobre los siguientes materiales: a) estiércol de caballo; b) estiércol de caballo + estiércol de cabra con paja de alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) (1:1, v:v); c) estiércol de cabra con paja de alfalfa; y d) estiércol de cabra con paja de alfalfa + residuos de jardín (principalmente pasto y hojas ) (1:1, v:v). La composición de las mezclas de vermicompost/arena evaluadas, tomando como base un peso de 15 kg, fue de 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 y 100:0 (% en peso). En total se evaluaron 17 tratamientos (cuatro tipos de vermicompost x cuatro niveles cada uno más un testigo) con cuatro repeticiones cada uno. Se utilizó un dise o completamente al azar y para la comparación de medias se utilizó la prueba Diferencia Mínima Significativa (DMS, 5%). Se estableció que tres de las variables evaluadas en el tomate presentaron diferencia significativa; sólidos solubles (oBrix), número de racimos (P ≤ 0,01) y número de frutos (P ≤ 0,05), en los tratamientos con las mezclas de vermicompost/arena 25:75 y 50:50 (%), mientras que las variables diámetro de fruto, altura de planta y rendimiento no presentaron diferencia significativa entre los tratamientos evaluados The development of tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) cv. Abstract: El trabajo presenta los resultados de un diagnóstico preliminar sobre la competencia comunicativa en estudiantes de medicina, y es parte de una investigación acerca del desarrollo de esta competencia en los médicos en formación; que persigue el objetivo de diagnosticar la competencia comunicativa en los estudiantes de medicina del tercer a o de la carrera, que residen en el municipio de Pinar del Río. Se empleó el método histórico-lógico, que permite hacer una síntesis teórica del proceso de formación de la competencia comunicativa en el individuo en su desarrollo histórico y social, así como de las regularidades y componentes de este proceso. A partir de ahí, se elaboró un instrumento de autoevaluación de los sujetos de la muestra que conforma el campo de la investigación, que se analizó empleando el método estadístico. Como resultado se constata el insuficiente nivel de desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa en los sujetos de la muestra, con solo un 38 %, que califican con el dominio de las habilidades mínimas que necesitan para lograr una comunicación de calidad con sus interlocutores, lo que debe formar parte de su desempe o profesional. El trabajo permite una constatación del problema, además de servir de pilotaje para evaluar la efectividad del instrumento de autoevaluación empleado, que arroja una fiabilidad significativa que abarca el 78% de los encuestados. This paper presents the results of an initial diagnosis concerning communicative competence in medical students, it is part of a research about the development of this competence when training medical doctors; having the purpose to diagnose the communicative competence of the medical students enroll in third academic year of medical studies living in Pinar del Rio municipality. Historical-logical method was used, that allows making a theoretical synthesis of the communicative competence in the formation process of the individual within the historical and social development, its regularities and components. Considering these points, an instrument to self-evaluate the subjects included in the sample was created, comprising the field of the research and using the statistical method to analyze it. Results showed an insufficient development of the communicative competence. Only 38% classified into the minimal skills needed to achieve a quality in communication with their interlocutors, which should be part of their professional performance. Abstract: Se hizo un estudio con el método de revisión bibliográfica sobre la ense anza del Inglés en los Centros de Educación Médica Superior (CEMS), en la que se analizaron artículos sobre la revolución científico-técnica y las nuevas tecnologías al servicio de la sociedad, y sobre cómo la universidad se ha insertado en este nuevo universo, desempe ando un papel clave, desde múltiples aristas, en lo académico, científico, profesional y cultural. Se ha tomado en cuenta la pertinencia, calidad e internacionalización de la ense anza del idioma inglés, así como la preparación de los profesionales de la salud en el idioma inglés para su ejercicio profesional tanto dentro como fuera del país. La ense anza del inglés, por su importancia, ha sido contemplada en los planes de estudio en las universidades médicas; la que va desde la traducción de artículos científicos, la comunicación personal y profesional en misiones internacionalistas y la discusión de los resultados de las investigaciones, entre otras; así se creó el fundamento teórico de este trabajo cuyo objetivo es caracterizar la ense anza de este idioma en los Centros de Ense anza Médica Superior, desde el pregrado y su profundización en el posgrado. Conocer y dominar el inglés ha facilitado a los investigadores y expertos utilizar la tecnología y ponerla en función de sus necesidades profesionales y personales. Abstract: validation of a spectrophotometry method applicable in clinic labs was proposed to analytical assessment of serum phosphates using a kit uv-phosphorus of domestic production from "carlos j. finlay" biologics production enterprise (havana, cuba). analysis method was based on phosphorus reaction to ammonium molybdenum to acid ph to creating a measurable complex to 340 nm. specificity and precision were measured considering the method strength, linearity, accuracy and sensitivity. analytical method was linear up to 4,8 mmol/l, precise (cv < 3 %) and exact (% recovery 98 to 102 %; r 3 0.999) during clinical interest concentration interval where there were not interferences by matrix. detection limit values were of 0.037 mmol/l and of quantification of 0.13 mmol/l both were satisfactory for product use.

Abstract: Se presentó la validación de un método espectrofotométrico aplicable en los laboratorios clínicos para la determinación analítica de fosfatos en suero, con el uso del juego de reactivos fósforo-UV de producción nacional de la Empresa de Producción de Biológicos "Carlos J. Finlay" (La Habana, Cuba). El método de análisis se fundamentó en la reacción del fósforo con amonio molibdato a pH ácido para formar un complejo medible a 340 nm. Se evaluaron la especificidad y precisión teniendo en cuenta la robustez del método, linealidad, exactitud y sensibilidad del método. El método analítico resultó ser lineal hasta 4,8 mmol/L, preciso (CV < 3 %) y exacto (% recuperación 98 a 102 %; r 3 0,999) en el intervalo de concentraciones de interés clínico, donde no se registraron interferencias por la matriz. Los valores para el límite de detección fueron de 0,037 mmol/L y de cuantificación de 0,13 mmol/L, ambos satisfactorios para el uso al que se destina el producto. Abstract: Se realizó un estudio sobre los resultados alcanzados en el examen de ciclo de Inglés de tercer a o de la carrera de medicina de ambos hospitales, León Cuervo Rubio y Abel Santamaría del curso escolar 2005-2006, comparando los resultados de las 4 habilidades impartidas y desarrolladas en el curso Changes, los profesores que trabajamos en este a o académico pudimos constatar que las mayores dificultades presentadas según los resultados fueron en la comprensión auditiva, debido a muchos obstáculos y limitaciones de recursos durante el curso anterior, teniendo como resultados que de 100 exámenes analizados solo el 40 % obtuvo notas de 4 y 5 y el resto, que fue el 60% obtuvo notas de 3 y 2 ptos teniendo en cuenta las mismas limitantes en este curso y los resultados del curso anterior, los profesores que trabajamos en este nivel nos trazamos como estrategia elaborar un sistema de ejercicios complementarios que diera respuesta a estas dificultades y con el objetivo de reforzar la habilidad auditiva al terminar el ciclo básico de esta disciplina, para esta investigación de tipo descriptiva y explicativa se utilizó el método estadístico de porcentaje. A study about the results obtained on the tests of students enrolled in the third academic year of the Medical Major (2005-2006) was carried out aimed at comparing the development of the four skills through "Changes" program. Professors who teach the program observed that the main difficulties were present in listening comprehension, because of many obstacles to overcome and limitations in material resources during the preceding course, to conduct this descriptive and explicable study a percentage statistical method was used, and results showed that out of 100 tests analyzed, only 40% had 4 and 5 scores, and the rest (60%), scores of 3 and 2. In this current course (2006-2007), limitations are the same, but the strategy changed in order to create a series of complementary exercises to work with this group of students and try to give solution to the problems found with the purpose of strengthening listening skill.
