Urban Simulation Models: Contributions as Analysis-Methodology in a Project of Urban Renewal*  [PDF]
María Cecilia Marengo
Current Urban Studies (CUS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/cus.2014.23028
Abstract: The recent urban transformations produced in cities indicate the need to propose new theoretical and methodological approaches in physical planning. Based on the idea of complexity, it is required to integrate, in the analysis, multiplicity of interrelated factors involved in urban development, moreover, to develop planning tools that can incorporate variables not initially considered (for example when the norms were sanctioned) and instruments that would provide assessment alternatives to planning decisions in real time. The simulation models are suggested as tools to detect the elements, relationships and the dynamics in a simplified form that allow experiencing on the results. That is to say, a theoretical position on to a computer model is translated to investigate (in an experimental way) possible solutions derived from manipulating the variables, before the phenomenon is materialized. In the case of urban planning, this condition is of particular relevance, given the importance to anticipate unwanted effects in the intervention context that may arise when urban projects are built. The paper evaluates the application of a simulation methodology, based on the dynamics of systems and the application of software that can anticipate the effects of certain decisions in an urban renewal project in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. It applies the General Systems Theory that is a contribution to the notion of complex thought and is trans-disciplinary. Based on the idea of complex and multidimensional city, the effects of a real estate development are analyzed and conclusions on the limits and possibilities of using this tool during the processes of urban management are provided.

Exploraciones y estudios sobre los nuevos espacios económicos durante el siglo XIX. Santiago del Estero, 1850-1875
Rossi,María Cecilia;
Mundo agrario , 2004,
Abstract: this article pretends to analyze the different ways through which the liberal santiaguenian elite planned the capitalist implantation from the second part of the xix century and the different projects of modernization in the economical area of a territory characterized by historical marginality, unequal and extreme ecological areas, and scanty economical sources to go ahead. ascribing to the philosophy of progress, following the alberdian ideas and ready to insert the santiaguenian productions in the economical circumference of the capitalist system, this elites -as far as they were also the state- developed some practices whose first objective was the study of the economical areas where the livestock productions demanded by the european market could take place. the conjunction of the local interests with the european needs will lead to the study of the salado norte river valley, the dulce river valley and the place known as mesón de fierro (iron table). this three areas will be connected between themselves and with the paraná river ports by the railway.

Synthesis (La Plata) , 2004,
Abstract: the most significant cultural difference that greeks perceived between themselves and the "others" was verified in the , literally, "the life of the ". if the man is a "political animal", the by nature is less or more than a man: a beast or a god. in euripides' hippolytus , the tragic hero chooses to be outside family norms and political responsibilities of the civilized life, beginning a marginal relationship with the . as virgin and hunter he is uncivil. the present paper intends to observe hippolytus' tragic itinerary, in his desire of remaining in the artemis' world without passing through the frontier that separates civilization from savagery, sameness from otherness, in order to reconstruct and interpret the civic speech that sustains the tragedy.

Aplicaciones de la Gramática Funcional al espa?ol
Gaiser,María Cecilia;
Anclajes , 2008,
Abstract: the present work has two goals to accomplish; first of all, to apply the theoretical tools provided by the functional grammar perspective for the analysis of texts; and secondly, to attain an approximation to notions of genre and register. thus, we will begin by exploring and analysing the theoretical and conceptual model proposed by such an approach in order to discover its possible applications to the spanish system. to make a start, we will make some methodologic considerations related to the study and development of the concepts and key ideas established by that perspective. then we will try a comparative analysis of two excerpts where the similarities and differences detected by applying its triple outlook -experiential meanings that encode our experiences of the world; interpersonal meanings that allow us to interact with others; and textual meanings that organize previous elements to construct coherent and relevant messages- are discussed. the corpus consists of two pieces of writing that have been selected because they share the same topic: the role of grammar. one of them has been extracted from a manual on prosody, orthography and grammar of the spanish language; the other is an excerpt taken from an interview with the colombian writer gabriel garcía márquez, conducted during a debate triggered by his speech at the first international congress of the spanish language that took place in méxico in 1997.
Análisis retórico-argumentativo del discurso agonal de Andrómaca de Eurípides, vv. 147-273
Schamun,María Cecilia;
Argos , 2012,
Abstract: the analysis of the first ?γ?ν in andromache (425? b. c.) to be presented below represents a sample of euripidean rhetoric, addressed in light of its significant impact in shaping the aristotelian rhetorical reflections. also in line with the works of goebel (1983), lloyd (1992) and dubischar (2001), this article will attempt to show the relevance of rhetorical patterns in the interpretation of agonistic speeches and the dramatic function of ?γ?ν for the tragic resolution of the play.
Biodiversidad de Heteroptera (Hemiptera) acuáticas y semiacuáticas de la Patagonia argentina
Melo,María Cecilia;
Revista de la Sociedad Entomol?3gica Argentina , 2009,
Abstract: the aquatic and semiaquatic heteroptera (infraorders nepomorpha, gerromorpha and leptopodomorpha) show a low diversity in argentina; up to now 208 species have been recorded. in 1881 carlos berg provided the first reference to heteroptera from patagonia (río negro). since the early 60's the aquatic heteroptera have been studied by a.o. bachmann and his students. up to now there are 36 recorded species belonging to the families corixidae, notonectidae, belostomatidae, gelastocoridae, naucoridae, and nepidae (nepomorpha); hydrometridae, veliidae, and mesoveliidae (gerromorpha), and saldidae (leptopodomorpha). most of these species extend their geographic distribution to northern argentina except sigara (tropocorixa) egbertae hungerford, s. (t.) trimaculata (le guillou), s. (t.) vuriloche bachmann, s. (t.) forciceps (spinola), trichocorixa milicorum bachmann (corixidae); notonecta (paranecta) virescens blanchard, n. (p.) fazi hungerford, n. (p.) vereertbruggheni hungerford (notonectidae); pseudosaldula bergi (haglund), p. paralia (torres), p. angusta (drake & carvalho), p. sola (drake & carvalho), p. doeringi (drake & carvalho), and saldula differata drake & carvalho (saldidae), which are exclusive from patagonia. the knowledge of the patagonian aquatic and semiaquatic heteroptera is accurate. according to the gathered data the state of conservation is acceptable; almost 40% of the species found in natural protected areas correspond to exclusive species from this region, representing almost the 40 % of the exclusive species from patagonia.
