Barrios de Riesgo, Estilos de Socialización Parental y Problemas de Conducta en Adolescentes
Gracia,Enrique; Fuentes,María C; García,Fernando;
Intervención Psicosocial , 2010,
Abstract: this article aims to analyze the influence of parental socialization styles (authoritarian, authoritative, indulgent and neglectful), and perceived neighborhood risk on three indicators of conduct problems in adolescence (school misconduct, delinquency, and drug use). the sample consists of 1,017 adolescents, aged between 12 and 17. results from four multivariate factorial designs yielded only main effects of parenting styles and neighborhood risk. adolescents from authoritative and indulgent families showed lower conduct problems than those with authoritarian and neglectful parents. also, higher levels of perceived neighborhood risk were significantly associated with more conduct problems. there were no significant interaction effects between parenting styles and perceived neighborhood risk, but results yielded a significant interaction effect between neighborhood risk and sex. overall, results do not support the idea that parenting styles are more effective under certain neighborhood risk conditions, and suggest that neighborhood risk influences adolescents' psychosocial adjustment beyond the influence of parental socialization styles.

Escritos de Psicología (Internet) , 2010,
Abstract: a programme of educational innovation was implemented to improve the attitude toward research methods for psychology students. students used real data to test their own hypotheses using different statistical methods. specifically, they implemented two key methodological principles in research methods: sample size and ordinal claims (frick, 1996). students had to work in teams, using internet data bases for developing the theoretical background of the study, the definition of the objectives, the definition of variables, data analysis, and discussion of results. we assessed the attitudes towards research methods before and after the study. results showed that: 1) the students improved their skills in research methods, and 2) the attitudes towards methodology were more positive.

One of the problems they encounter is the denial of their sexuality by the family and society. Between 1996 and 1998, 32 adolescents, either handicapped or suffering from chronic diseases participated in the Centre of Reproductive Medicine and Integral Development of the Adolescent (CEMERA) of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile, in a programme of workshops on affectivity and sexuality. 25 mothers of disabled adolescents participated in a series of parallel workshops. They were evaluated at the beginning and end of the workshops and 6 months later using a test previously employed to evaluate normal adolescents. The level of self-esteem increased (Coopersmith’s test), with a significantly increase in the knowledge acquired about affectivity and reproduction. There was also an increase in the mothers awareness. Recognition of the mothers feelings would improve the doctor-patient-family relationship. We recommend this type of workshop for education about affectivity and sexuality as part of the integral support for these families

Flores-Coto, César;Espinosa Fuentes, María de la Luz;Zavala García, Faustino;Sanvicente A?orve, Laura;
Hidrobiológica , 2009,
Abstract: the zooplankton laboratory of the instituto de ciencias del mar y limnología, unam, had studied for about 25 years the ichthyoplankton from the southern gulf of mexico. the objectives have been to determine which species exist, where are they distributed, their abundance, which communities form, how do they vary and why. it has been recorded the presence of at least 306 species, distributed on 283 genus and 120 families of fish larvae. diversity and abundance appear as opposite parameters, the higher abundance occurs in coastal areas and mid shelf, diminishing towards oceanic zone. in contrast the diversity is higher in oceanic areas, continental edge and decreases in coastal areas. this distribution shows a recurrent pattern. in general, the distribution and abundance of larvae are determined by the spawning area and season of the adults, food availability, and physical process, mainly currents, continental water discharges, and mixing processes. the vertical distribution of larvae in the water column probably depends on the habitat of adults. larvae of coastal dwelling adults, tend to occupy mainly the 30 m surface layer, whereas larvae of oceanic parents, generally occupy layers deeper than 50 m. all larvae tend to be more dispersed at night. it has been determined four recurrent communities: a) coastal, b) internal neritic, c) external neritic and d) oceanic.
Ictioplancton del sur del Golfo de México: Un compendio Ichthyoplankton of the southern Gulf of Mexico: A compendium
