Abstract: in this paper geometric morphometry is used to determine the morphological variation of the male?s first gonopod in specimens of strengeriana maniformis. 35 males from the crustacean collection of the instituto de ciencias naturales and 9 males of the museum la salle collection were examined. the morphometric study was centered in the apex and the mesial process of the left first gonopod using following programs of the tps series: tpsutil, tpsdig, tpsrelw, tpsregr and the palaeontological statistics software package (past). the analysis allowed us to determine that the most variable portion of the gonopod corresponds to the mesial process, and the most constant is the distal portion of the mesial lobe. the study established that the morphological variation of the gonopod is independent of the size of the specimen and the population. the hypothesis that contamination with heavy metals causes the variation was rejected.

Abstract: we describe two new species of neostrengeria pretzmann, 1965, n. bataensis, from santa maría, boyacá department, and n. celioi, from aguazul, casanare department, on the eastern slope of the eastern andes. with the addition of the new species, the number of species in the genus rises to 23. these new species are distinguished from their congeners primarily by the morphology of the first male gonopod, particularly by the shape of the lateral and accessory lobes, outline of apex, mesocaudal projection and mesial lobe. the genus neostrengeria is endemic to colombia and is distributed in both slopes and the high plain of the eastern cordillera, at elevations ranging from 470 to 3000 m. we present a key for the identification of the species based essencially on the morphology of the first male gonopod and pereopods.

La crítica de Benito Jerónimo Feijoo a la lógica
Campos Benítez,Juan Manuel;
Revista de Filosofía , 2006,
Abstract: benito jerónimo feijoo (1676-1764) was one of the authors who, since the xvi century, voiced critiques against the current teaching of classical logic. in this article many of the arguments stated by feijoo against traditional logic are examined; some of these can be better explained after reviewing the works of the novohispanic thinker tomás de mercado (15?-1575). feijoo statements, which are akin or related to nowadays critiques to logic are here outlined.
La conversión simple ordinaria y modal de las oraciones
Campos Benítez,Juan Manuel;
Revista de Filosofía , 2007,
Abstract: we show the traditional doctrine of simple conversion of categorical and modal quantified sentences. we do this by resorting to the medieval analysis of sentences by means of identity sentences which result necessary when they are true and impossible when when they are false. to simplify we reduce our universe of discourse to small ?worlds? of individuals and properties; we use standard symbols but add a new one for the modal treatment.

Boletín de filología , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-93032010000200004
Abstract: in this study we present a quantitative analysis of the morphosyntactic variation of the analytic (present progressive) and synthetic (simple present) forms of present progressive aspect in monolingual and bilingual spanish. by way of a contextualized questionnaire previously coded for the linguistic factors of verbal lexical aspect and semantics of the adverb, we identify the contexts of variation of the forms under investigation. in addition, the analysis includes the extralinguistic factors of gender and bilingualism. the results indicate that lexical aspect of the verb, as well as the semantic value of the adverb, are significant factors in the prediction of both forms. similarly, the factor regarding participant level of bilingualism has a significant effect. we contribute methodologically to the study of the variation of the analytic and synthetic forms of spanish present progressive aspect given that the instrument employed in the current study controls the linguistic variables and obtains the same number of responses per person, allowing for a comparable evaluation of participants in similar contexts. finally, we add to the previous literature on this topic by providing evidence that the synthetic and analytic forms appear in variation in a larger number of contexts than previously recognized, allowing for an accurate definition of the variable context.
Gest?o do risco em medicina transfusional: modelos e ferramentas
Campos,Maria Manuel; Santos,Isabel Reis;
Revista Portuguesa de Saúde Pública , 2010,
Abstract: background and objectives: to achieve good risk management it is crucial to identify and analyse the root and trajectory of the problem, which, in turn, will lead to its proper evaluation, control and prevention. good practice compliance, upgrading of professionals and implementation of a quality management system are milestones in the quality assurance. the proactive risk management comprises innovation and change by a functional point of view: predictive, measurable and that control the risk. this paper explains the implementation and maintenance of projects, methodologies and systems as well as education and training programmes in transfusion medicine. material and methods: the tools employed in the risk management stands in the risk assessment and error communication followed by control and revision processes, making changes when necessary to improve performances and overall quality. results: corrective and preventive actions to minimize the occurrence of errors are fundamental in attaining the main goal of transfusion medicine which is to provide adequate blood products within requirements of specifications to the patients who need them in the right context. conclusion: these considerations are widespread throughout clinical, laboratory and manufacturing practices and can help to recognize and solve problems whilst trying to reach a standard of excellence.
