Abstract: This theoretical reflection aims to analyze some factors that have made it difficult to use the Nursing Process in our country. It is the result of an approximation, deepening and revisiting process towards the theme, which the authors have experienced in the last 20 years of their professional activities, in which teaching, research, care delivery and nursing team management are interrelated.
A Lenda Alenta: (re) contando histórias
Jamile Coutrim Dalri
EVALUATING SMALL MAMMAL RESPONSE TO NATURAL DISTURBANCE AND RESTORATION IN OAK ECOSYSTEMS IN THE MISSISSIPPI ALLUVIAL VALLEY
Smith,Carl G.; Hamel,Paul B.; Fuzaro Gullo,Manoelle;
Colombia Forestal , 2010,
Abstract: oak species form a conspicuous and often dominant component of bottomland forests of the mississippi alluvial valley. the extent of these forests has been drastically reduced as a result of clearing for agri culture in the past two centuries. patterns of clearing have reduced the distribution of remaining forest patches to a much more flood-prone subset of the landscape than was historically the case, reducing the diversity of oak species currently present on the landscape. intensive harvesting has further changed the composition of the remaining stands. small remnant patches of primary forest continue to exist as research natural areas on the delta national forest in sharkey county, mississippi. in particular, the overcup oak (quercus lyrata) and redgum (liquidambar styraciflua) research natural areas pres ent substantial components of the trees for which the areas were named, as well as quercus nuttallii and smaller components of other species. recent interest in afforestation has produced a resurgence of interest in restoration of oak forest to abandoned farmland in the region. we have studied small mammal response to restoration on an extensive experiment near the delta national forest since 1995. we have also ex amined small mammal response to a tornado that disturbed approximately half of the overcup oak research natural area in 2008. we use these studies to demonstrate how population estimates of small mammals can be obtained from capture-recapture studies, employing different designs, and utilizing program capture for population estimation. small mammal communities in these stands are more species-rich in early succession than in primary forest. the study of response to tornado damage to the overcup oak research natural area is complicated by the fact that this particular forest type is very flood-prone, creating obstacles to colonization by small mammals. analysis of capture-recapture data with robust methods illustrated in this study permits extraction of

Two-particle correlations in p-Pb collisions at the LHC with ALICE
L. Milano
Physics , 2013, DOI: 10.1088/1742-6596/509/1/012105
Abstract: The double ridge structure previously observed in Pb-Pb collisions has also been recently observed in high-multiplicity p-Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 5.02 TeV. These systems show a long-range structure (large separation in Delta_eta) at the near- (Delta_phi ~ 0) and away-side (Delta_phi ~ pi) of the trigger particle. In order to understand the nature of this effect the two-particle correlation analysis has been extended to identified particles. Particles are identified up to transverse momentum pT values of 4 GeV/c using the energy loss signal in the Time Projection Chamber detector, complemented with the information from the Time of Flight detector. This measurement casts a new light on the potential collective (i.e. hydrodynamic) behaviour of particle production in p-Pb collisions.
Long-range angular correlations at the LHC with ALICE
Leonardo Milano
Physics , 2014, DOI: 10.1016/j.nuclphysa.2014.07.046
Abstract: The observation of long-range correlations on the near and away side -the double ridge- in high-multiplicity p-Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 5.02 TeV and its similarity to Pb-Pb collisions remains one of the open questions from the p-Pb run at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It has been attributed to mechanisms that involve initial-state effects, such as gluon saturation and colour connections forming along the longitudinal direction, and final-state effects, such as parton-induced interactions and collective effects developing in a high-density system possibly formed in these collisions. In order to understand the nature of this double- ridge structure the two-particle correlation analysis has been extended to identified particles. The observed mass dependence in p-Pb resembles the pattern observed in Pb-Pb collisions and is compatible with expectations from hydrodynamics. The subtraction of the long-range structures allows the study of the hadron production belonging to the fragmentation of jets originating from low momentum-transfer scatterings (minijets).
Inhibitory Effect of Plant Extracts on Conidial Germination of the Phytopathogenic Fungus Fusarium oxysporum  [PDF]

Abstract: In an attempt to reduce the use of synthetic fungicides, extensive investigations into the possible exploitation of plant compounds as natural commercial products were performed. The present paper describes the antifungal activity of botanic extracts on the development of Fusarium oxysporum, f.s.p. lycopersici. The tests in vitro were carried out in a multi-well plate assay. The tested plants were classified based on the optical density reached by germinating conidia 24, 48 and 72 hours after inoculation. Among 500 plant species tested, about 84% did not exert significant inhibition, 7.6% showed low inhibition, 5.2% had an intermediate level of antifungal activity, and only 3% inhibited fungal germination completely. These findings suggest that some botanic extracts tested possess antifungal activities against Fusarium oxysporum and could be used as potential antifungal agents for the control of fungal plant diseases.
