Adenosine and adenosine receptors: Newer therapeutic perspective

Abstract: Adenosine, a purine nucleoside has been described as a ′retaliatory metabolite′ by virtue of its ability to function in an autocrine manner and to modify the activity of a range of cell types, following its extracellular accumulation during cell stress or injury. These effects are largely protective and are triggered by binding of adenosine to any of the four adenosine receptor subtypes namely A1, A2a, A2b, A3, which have been cloned in humans, and are expressed in most of the organs. Each is encoded by a separate gene and has different functions, although overlapping. For instance, both A1 and A2a receptors play a role in regulating myocardial oxygen consumption and coronary blood flow. It is a proven fact that adenosine plays pivotal role in different physiological functions, such as induction of sleep, neuroprotection and protection against oxidative stress. Until now adenosine was used for certain conditions like paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) and Wolff Parkinson White (WPW) syndrome. Now there is a growing evidence that adenosine receptors could be promising therapeutic targets in a wide range of conditions including cardiac, pulmonary, immunological and inflammatory disorders. After more than three decades of research in medicinal chemistry, a number of selective agonists and antagonists of adenosine receptors have been discovered and some have been clinically evaluated, although none has yet received regulatory approval. So this review focuses mainly on the newer potential role of adenosine and its receptors in different clinical conditions.

It was made to common people to participate in national Movement by incitative of Khadi wearing and publicity. From the view of study how for it was gregarious to understand its meaning (Khadi). Khadi which : using hand loom taking out threads through cotton by using takali/spinning wheel is called Khadi before it was called as cloth of umbrella or half parts of India. Handloom cloth is in Gujarat is called as Kadhi because of Gandhi since Gujarati Called it so.
Atypical carcinoid tumour associated with celiac disease

Abstract: Coeliac disease is common and its prevalence is greater than previous estimates. Small bowel Lymphoma and Adenocarcinoma are recognised complications of celiac disease. The association of carcinoid tumours with celiac disease is very rare. We present a case of atypical carcinoid tumour in a patient with celiac disease.

Abstract: In this proposed work the robot is built using two dc motors for the movement which is administered by AT89C51 Microcontroller, the obstacle is detected by ultrasonic sensor, the controlling of the robot is done by using the resources of MINI 2440 development board. The application of this system can be implemented at archeological survey, place of natural disaster and industrial applications. The previous system of Mobile robot which relies on PC System to coordinate the whole resources, in order to achieve advanced arithmetic among different module, and to realize intelligent behavior just as human beings by plan and decision. In order to overcome the hitch in the previous system, this work is proficient where it is stable and reliable, with low-power, tiny-volume and high integration.
3D Face Recognition Using Radon Transform and Symbolic PCA

Abstract: Three Dimensional (3D) human face recognition is emerging as a significant biometric technology. Research interest into 3D face recognition has increased during recent years due to availability of improved 3D acquisition devices and processing algorithms. A 3D face image is represented by 3D meshes or range images which contain depth information. Range images have several advantages over 2D intensity images and 3D meshes. Range images are robust to the change of color and illumination, which are the causes for limited success in face recognition using 2D intensity images. In the literature, there are several methods for face recognition using range images, which are focused on the data acquisition and preprocessing stage only. In this paper, a new 3D face recognition technique based on symbolic Principal Component Analysis approach is presented. The proposed method transforms the 3D range face images using radon transform and then obtain symbolic objects, (i.e. interval valued objects) termed as symbolic 3D range faces. The PCA is employed to symbolic 3D range face image dataset to obtain symbolic eigen faces which are used for face recognition. The proposed symbolic PCA method has been successfully tested for 3D face recognition using Texas 3D Face Database. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs satisfactorily with an average accuracy of 97% as compared to conventional PCA method and is efficient in terms of accuracy and detection time.
Suspicious Human Activity Detection from Surveillance Videos

Abstract: Video analytics is the method of processing a video, gathering data and analysing the data for getting domain specific information. In the current trend, besides analysing any video for information retrieval, analysing live surveillance videos for detecting activities that take place in its coverage area has become more important. Such systems will be implemented real time. Automated face recognition from surveillance videos becomes easier while using a training model such as Artificial Neural Network. Hand detection is assisted by skin color estimation. This research work aims to detect suspicious activities such as object exchange, entry of a new person, peeping into other’s answer sheet and person exchange from the video captured by a surveillance camera during examinations. This requires the process of face recognition, hand recognition and detecting the contact between the face and hands of the same person and that among different persons. Automation of ‘suspicious activity detection’ will help decrease error rate due to manual monitoring.
DETERMINATION OF BASELINE WIDAL TITRE AMONG HEALTHY POPULATION

Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To determine the baseline Widal titre in apparently healthy adult population of Hubli-Dharwad (North Karnataka region), which is an endemic area for enteric fever. METHODS: Two hundred healthy volunteers involving women attending ANC clinics, students, doctors and health care personnel were screened for Salmonella agglutinins using Widal test. Widal titres were estimated by tube agglutination method & slide semi quantitative method. RESULTS: A total of 154(77%) individuals revealed antibody titre to common O antigen. One hundred and seventy two (86%) had anti H titre & 68(34%) had anti AH titre of S.enterica. subsp. enterica. ser.Typhi & Paratyphi A respectively. Geometric mean of the observed readings were 38.58 for O, 60.37 for H & 40.02 for AH antibody. Result of slide semiquantitative & tube agglutination test were in agreement with each other. No significant difference was observed in the baseline titre among general population and health care providers. CONCLUSION: Based on these findings antibody titre of 1:40 for O, 1:80 for H & 1:40 for AH antigen considered as baseline titre in this region. Updated data on the basal antibody titres in various regions is essential to decide the cut off level for interpretation of the Widal test and proper diagnosis of Enteric fever.
Total dose infusion of fractionated iron dextran complex in management of anaemia in antenatal cases

Abstract: Background: Iron deficiency anemia is common clinical manifestation in pregnancy. It can be easily prevented or corrected by early diagnosis and proper treatment successfully. This study was done to know the efficacy, effectiveness, rise in hemoglobin level and adverse effects of newly available low molecular weight iron dextran complex. Methods: A prospective clinical trial was conducted in randomly selected 50 antenatal women who attended the OPD of OBG department and were moderately anemic and fulfilled the inclusion criteria of the study Results: All the 50 women were moderately anemic with hemoglobin level between 7-9 gm%. After total dose infusion of low molecular weight fractionated iron dextran complex, hemoglobin level was measured at 4 weeks and at term. The mean hemoglobin level rose to 9.5 gm/dl by 4 weeks after infusion and to 11.53 gm/dl at term, which was statistically significant (p<0.0001). Only one patient developed non-cardiac chest pain during the test dose and two patients developed urticaria during total dose infusion. Conclusion: The study showed a statistically significant increase in hemoglobin level after total dose infusion of low molecular weight iron dextran complex with a good safety profile and minimal hospital stay. Abstract: This paper presents the findings of an experimental study of how ageing temperature affects the pseudoelasticity (PE) and its phases of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA). These have been examined by means of tensile testing machine and X-ray diffraction (XRD). By increasing the ageing temperature (constant ageing time) from 350oC to 550oC critical stress for martensite formation and psuedo-elastic elongation increased. However, specimen aged at 650oC showed a decrease in the critical stress for martensite formation and psuedo-elastic elongation. After second and third sequence of loading and unloading, the critical stress shifted towards higher side was observed. The XRD measurement revealed that phases present in the matrix drastically changes with ageing temperatures. Transformation was taking place in two-way transformation, i.e., during heating martensite (B19') transformed to austenite (B2) while cooling the austenite (B2) transformed back to martensite (B19') .
