SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME NOVEL PYRAZOLES AND THEIR GROWTH PROMOTING ACTIVITY ON SOME FLOWERING PLANTS
Hushare VJ,Rajput PR,Malpani MO,Ghodile NG
International Research Journal of Pharmacy , 2013,
Abstract: A series of chlorosubstituted 4-aroylpyrazoles have been synthesized by refluxing of chlorosubstituted-3-aroylflavones and 3-alkoylchromone with phenylhydrazine hydrochloride in dioxane medium with 0.5 ml of piperidine. Chlorosubstituted-3-aroylflavones and chlorosubstituted-3-alkoylchromone were prepared by refluxing them separately with iodine crystal in ethanol. Initially chlorosubstituted-3-aroylflavanones and 3-alkoylchromanone have been prepared separately by the interaction of different aldehydes with 1(2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorophenyl)-3-phenyl-1,3-propanedione. Constitutions of synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, molecular weight determination, UV-Visible, I.R. and 1H-NMR spectral data. The titled compounds were evaluated for their growth promoting activity on some flowering plants viz. Papaver rhoeas, Dianthus chinensis, Candy tuft, Calendula officinalise, Gladiola tristis, Gaillardia.
Effect of the Aqueous Extract of Gloriosa superba Linn (Langli) Roots on Reproductive System and Cardiovascular Parameters in Female Rats
AA Malpani
Tropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research , 2011,
Abstract: Purpose: Gloriosa superba Linn (liliaceae) has been used to induce labor in the traditional Indian system of medicine. The objective of the study was to evaluate the activity of the aqueous extract of Gloriosa superba (AL) root on the female reproductive system of rat. Methods: The aqueous extract of Gloriosa superba was prepared by simple maceration. Phytochemical analysis as well as toxicity (in mice) and antifertility studies, uterotrophic assay, duciduoma model, uterotonic assessment in-vitro and in-vivo of aqueous extract was carried out in rats. Oxytocin was used as the uterotonic reference standard. The effect of the extact on cardiovascular parameters was also evaluated. Results: Phytochemical analysis shows presence of flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and glycosides in the aqueous extract of Gloriosa superba. The extract yield was 6 % and was found to be was safe at a dose as high as 550 mg/kg body weight. Antifertility study showed early abortificient activity. No increase in uterus and ducidual weight was observed. Both the reference (oxytocin) and the extract produced dosedependent contractions but the extract had no effect on heart parameters and blood pressure. Conclusion: The aqueous extract of Gloriosa superba showed oxytocic activity and early abortifacient activity which may be due to the presence of alkaloids such as colchicine. This provides justification for its use in traditional medicine.

A new curved vitreous cutter for managing phakic retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy

Indian Journal of Ophthalmology , 1998,
Abstract: In the presence of proliferations anteriorly, adequate excision of the vitreous base is essential. To enable a good vitreous base excision, removal of lens often becomes necessary as it may be damaged while attempting to remove peripheral vitreous. To avoid damage or the need to remove the crystalline lens we have used a new modified curved vitreous cutter along with a wide angle observation system binocular indirect ophthalmomicroscope (BIOM). Use of BIOM during vitreous surgery enables easy viewing of the retinal periphery without the need for scleral depression. Sclerotomies are made as for any regular three-port vitrectomy procedure and the vitrectomy is carried out using the curved vitreous cutter, including the vitreous base, avoiding damage to the crystalline lens. The modified curved vitreous cutter is helpful in removing the peripheral vitreous without damaging the crystalline lens, giving the patient the advantage of intraocular lens implantation at a later date.
Ciprofloxacin therapy in chronic folliculitis of legs
Balachandran C,Malpani Suneel,Srinivas C
Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology , 1995,
Abstract: The efficacy of ciprofloxacin was evaluated in 25 patients with chronic folliculitis of legs in a double-blind cross over study. Though ciprofloxacin was found to be far more effective than the placebo the average remission time was only 44.5 days
ANTIDIABETIC ACTIVITY AND PHYTOCHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF CASSIA FISTULA LINN. BARK

International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research , 2012,
Abstract: Daily oral administration of the total alcoholic extract and its ethyl acetate fraction of the bark of Cassia fistula in alloxan induced diabetic rats exhibited significant reduction in blood glucose levels and also found effective in restoring the blood lipids to normal levels. The activity was found comparable with standard drug glibenclamide. The ethyl acetate fraction showed more significant antidiabetic effect. The chromatographic isolation of ethyl acetate fraction summarizes the presence of flavonoidal moiety.
Air Compressor Control System for Energy Saving in Locomotive Service Plant  [PDF]

Journal of Electromagnetic Analysis and Applications (JEMAA) , 2009, DOI: 10.4236/jemaa.2009.12018
Abstract: The actuality and disadvantages of traditional high power asynchronism motor drive air compressor in locomotive ser-vice plant are discussed. In order to reduce the energy consumption and obtain safe running, a variable frequency con-trol method to the motor is supplied. A PLC with touch screen is used for monitoring the status of the compressor and its control system. It also presents energy consumption analysis caused by the variable frequency control method in a locomotive service plant.
Design OF Flexure Bearing For Linear Compressor By Optimization Procedure Using FEA

International Journal of Engineering Science and Technology , 2012,
Abstract: Bearing are used to allow the relative motion between two surfaces. A shaft has to rotate about its casing or a piston has to slide about the cylinder. Both requires relative motion to happened least rictional losses. The flexural bearing however ,offers a different approach in supporting the bearing surfaces. The elements of bearing surfaces are deformed on application of load to one of the surfaces, allowing the relative motion between the two surfaces on removal of the load ,the surfaces go back to their original position subjected tocondition that caused deformation of the bearing element due to pplied load is within the limit of elasticity. This eliminates the wear ,vibration and frictional losses. However ,the deformation has to be limited. The precision and micro machining applications and some medical applications very low relative motion. Hence, flexural bearing in this kind of application is a better. The present work is specific to the typical flexure bearing used in linear compressor. Since the flexural bearing designed procedure is not available, this paper proposes to the FEM as a tool to find the axial stiffness thatwould be offered by a typical flexure used in the linear compressor application for cryocooler. The cryocooler has a linear compressor use for compressing a gas with a typical displacement of 5 mm. The typical design has the flexural bearing with spiral cuts in the flexures. These spiral cuts allows each of the flexure to move itselfaxially on application of load in the axial direction. There are two states of flexures called stacks on either side of linear motor supporting a piston rod which moves the piston either side i.e. back and forth in gas displacer. As mentioned typical displacement of the piston is 5mm causing each of the flexure to get deformed by same amount. Since there is no any standard method available for alculating axial stiffness of bearing ,we haveconsider an example of disc.

Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology , 1996,
Abstract: A study of clinical profile of acrochordons was carried out in 100 patients. Their association with diabetes mellitus and other disorders was studied. Acrochordons were found to be closely associated with pseudo-acanthosis nigricans, seborrhoeic keratosis, obesity and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
