Abstract: the purpose of this work was to evaluate the effect of calcium chloride (cacl2) in the quality of pineapple "pérola" minimally processed and refrigerated. the fruits were washed, sanitized, cutted and imbebed in a calcium chloride solution and packed in rigid polypropylene and stored at 4oc for 16 days. the variables ss, loss of weight, texture and ph were influenced by the concentration of cacl2. the storage time affected tta (total titrable acidity), ss (soluble solids), trs (total reducing sugars), loss of weight, texture and ph. the results showed that independent of the type of cut there was not a significant difference between the treatments with 1% and 2.5% having both preserved the quality characteristics.
Integra??o entre vigilancia sanitária e assistência à saúde da mulher: um estudo sobre a integralidade no SUS
Maia, Christiane;Guilhem, Dirce;Lucchese, Geraldo;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2010000400011
Abstract: comprehensiveness is a key principle in brazil's unified national health system (sus), approached from various perspectives, including linkage between services. the debate on this principle appears in health care, especially in the area of women's health, and in health surveillance guidelines. since both areas target quality of health services, the aim of this study is to analyze the integration between health surveillance and women's health care. this is a qualitative case study that interviewed health surveillance staff in health services and coordinators of women's health services. the findings point to the isolation of health surveillance within the health secretariats. the importance of integrating the two areas is cited by women's health administrators, but it is difficult to implement. collaborative relations only occur in emergency situations. the health surveillance professionals believe that this lack of integration is due to the fact that women's health issues do not require their participation, and that at any rate they collaborate with the area through health inspections and talks. the study detected difficulties in achieving integration between the two areas, with the persistent challenge of linking health actions, especially with health surveillance.

Semina : Ciências Agrárias , 2006,
Abstract: This review presents the important aspects of the coconut water, such as its chemical composition, nutritional value and functional properties, which allied to its sweetened taste, turned it into a much appreciated beverage, favoring the increase of its consumption. It also reports the types of commercialization of the coconut water and the related aspects of the industrialization of the coconut water, balancing the offer of green coconut along the year. The important factors during the industrialization of the coconut water were emphasized and the researches that have been accomplished for the extension of its shelf life, obtaining products that maintain as much as possible its original sensorial characteristics.

Bragantia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87052011000400021
Abstract: the reduction in vigor of guava infected by meloidogyne enterolobii is a consequence of changes in root system, with this infection triggering a syndrome characterized by symptoms related to nutritional imbalance. to characterize it, chemical analyses were performed in three types of leaves (leaves without symptoms, with symptoms considered mild and severe) and also in soil in two periods: february and august. the plants were grown for two years with and without inoculation of the guava nematode. the concentrations of n, p and k decreased in leaves without symptoms compared with leaves with mild and severe symptom in the analysis carried out in both seasons. ca concentration was increased with the worsening of symptoms in both seasons. mg concentration did not change in february, but in august it also had its highest concentration in leaves with severe symptoms different from the leaves with mild or without symptoms. leaf s concentration was higher in leaves without symptoms in the analysis conducted in february, whereas in august, the leaves with severe symptoms had higher s concentrations. the concentration of b did not differ regarding the presence or absence of symptoms and time of analysis. in february, cu and fe concentrations were increased in leaves with severe symptoms. the concentration of zn decreased with increasing the severity of leaf visual symptoms in both times of assessment. the phenology of guava cultivar paluma was not affected by infection of m. enterolobii at the first flowering.

Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-20612010000300010
Abstract: although cashew apple juice has been highly consumed in brazil and several studies on its nutritional value have been published, no studies on the determination of folate contents in this juice were found in the literature. several analytic techniques can be employed for the folate determination in foods. in this study, the microbiological assay using lactobacillus casei was employed. enzyme treatment and ultrasound waves were tested as pretreatment. the use of standards of folic acid and folate were also evaluated. the results showed that the enzyme treatment cannot be replaced by ultrasound treatment. the consumption of 200 ml of in natura cashew apple juice corresponds to a folate intake of 500 μg, which is higher than the recommended daily intake for adults.

Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-20612001000100010
Abstract: cashew apple juice was obtained by a combined process using heat treatment and chemical preservatives. several concentrations of so2 were used combined with nitrogen stripping. it was found that the juice treated with 300ppm of so2 combined with nitrogen presented the best quality with regard to color when compared to the one treated only with nitrogen.

Abstract: cashew apples processed by combined methods were stored at room temperature (28oc) in order to evaluate the tendency for chemical, microbiological and sensorial changes during 120 days of storage. results confirmed that the obstacles used (reduction of water activity, mild heat treatment, ph reduction, ascorbic acid addition, 1000ppm sodium benzoate, 600 and 900ppm of so2) and their intensities were capable to assure the microbiological stability and sensorial acceptance of the product during storage stability at room temperature for 120 days.

Almeida, Eduardo José de;Santos, Jaime Maia dos;Martins, Antonio Baldo Geraldo;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2009000400014
Abstract: the objective this work was to identify myrtaceae species resistant to meloidogyne mayaguensis. ara?a and guava accessions obtained from the collection of native and exotic fruitful plants of unesp/fcav, and accessions of ara?a plant obtained from native forest fragments located in the northeast region of the s?o paulo state and the triangulo mineiro region, minas gerais state, brazil, were tested for resistance to m. mayaguensis. the seedlings received 4,000 eggs and second stadium juveniles of m. mayaguensis each and were reared in a greenhouse. after 150 days, the genotypes were evaluated for resistance to the nematode based on the reproduction factor. three psidium spp. and one eugenia accessions were resistant to m. mayaguensis.
