Estrés oxidativo, prooxidantes y enfermedad de Crohn
Tapia S,Alexis; Araya M.,Magdalena;
Revista médica de Chile , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0034-98872006000100014
Abstract: the frequency of crohn disease shows a significant increase in the last century. affected patients show a misbalance between production of free radicals and anti oxidant defenses. thus, one of the increasingly accepted htypotheses to explain the origin of this disease, is the oxidative stress that occurs in the intestinal mucosa. dietary factors including self administered vitamin and mineral supplemets may play a role, especially when they contain excessive amounts of iron and copper, known for their prooxidant capacities. unfortunately, little is known about how these metals may influence the antioxidant defenses in the intestinal mucosa. this article reviews the literature on the why and how these elements may act on individuals susceptible to develop crohm disease, including the evidence supporting the hypothesis that oxidative stress in the intestinal mucosa is an important pathogenetic factor

Abstract: the study of interactions between variables macro and micro in educational organizations, is a challenge in the understanding of the effects of social programs, organizational interventions and classroom strategies that seek to improve the quality and coverage of learning in schools. the goal of this study is to go further in the analysis of the effects of the critical schools program in chile, comparing the results of simce (national system for measuring the quality of education) 2002-2005-2006 with a control group. for this, a multilevel study was conducted that allows to explain better the variability of the results. we obtain that the largest increases occurs in schools that have a lower socioeconomic status. we estimated a school effect equivalent to 6% and we found that a significant predictor of individual academic achievement is the variable parents expectations. these results indícate the urgency of increasing the school impact in schools of high vulnerability.
