This work presents a set of reflections about ethical questions involving research with native people within the Social Psychology area. To start our reflection we begin with the question "what for and for whom a specific knowledge is produced?", inserting it in an ethical and political discussion that we believe to be fundamental for the whole research. Sharing the discussions of Guareschi (2003), we have based our work on a conception of ethics as an instance of criticism, what means considering it as an incessant search for transformation, and a propositive subject as well, and, finally, it means that ethics can only refer to relationships, since it is actually a relationship itself. Starting from these three statements we have proceeded a reflection about the research with native groups, believing that focusing within certain values is fundamental to avoid the repetition of the same abusive behavior toward these populations during History.

Abstract: the development of flexible-fuel vehicles in brazil and the need for an alternative energy source to oil (petroleum) has lead to a reconfiguration of the ethanol distribution process. these changes have brought new opportunities to the brazilian sugarcane ethanol fuel industry and new directions to the development of ethanol marketing channels in the national and international levels. the present study aims to show how transactions between ethanol distributors and retail stations occur. the research was conducted as a multiple case study by collecting data through in-person interviews in nine companies which are representative members of the ethanol marketing channels (distributors and retail stations) in the state of sao paulo, brazil. the data analysis was performed using the cost transactions economics theory to evaluate the variables used in the analysis (business specificities, frequency, and transaction risks). the results indicate that the most important specificities of the fuel distributors business are related to physical specificities such as locational and brand assets. with regard to the retail stations, the major specificities identified were the same, except for the physical and locational assets. governance forms based on contractual and spot market stand out in the relationship between the two agents investigated

Abstract: this study aimed to evaluate health related quality of life (hrql) and spiritual well-being (swb) of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd) and to investigate the relationship between hrqol and swb. seventy outpatients with copd were interviewed using portuguese versions of the seattle obstructive lung disease questionnaire (soldq) and spiritual well-being scale (swbs). soldq domains with lowest and highest scores were physical function (37.29±17.19) and treatment satisfaction (68.75±28.05). total score of the swbs was 94.87±13.56, indicating a moderate level of swb. total swb and the subscale religious well-being correlate positively with treatment satisfaction (p=0.007 and p=0.002, respectively). negative correlation were found between religious well-being and physical function domain (r = -0.233, p=0.05). patients with higher spiritual/religious well-being were more satisfied with treatment and had worst physical functioning.

Methods: descriptive study from qualitative approach conducted in a public maternity in Rio de Janeiro city. One hundred interviews were conducted with mothers in the Rooming-in Care. Results: among women who have suffered some kind of violence there is a greater proportion of physical aggression (67%), and the aggressor is, in most cases (33%), a person close to the woman. The victims did not seek a specialized help service (79%). The socio-demographic profile showed that the predominant age range was 20-29 years (56%), with a low level of schooling, less than six years of study, with a predominant family income of more than two minimum salaries and residents, most of them (27%) from A.P.3.1 Méier.

Objective: To evaluate the strength and endurance of pelvic floor muscles in obese and nonobese patients and to correlate it with the signs of urine involuntary loss. Materials and Methods: We have evaluated a total of 44 women complaining of urinary incontinence, mean age of 64.34 (36-78). The patients were divided into two groups, Group 1 - (Obese): n=19, composed of patients with Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30; and Group 2 (nonobese): n=25, patients with BMI less than 30 and submitted to the Pelvic Floor Functional Assessment (AFA) through palpation and bidigital perineometer evaluation. Results: It was possible to observe, in the evaluation of pelvic floor muscles, significant differences in obese patients (p=0.0001), confirming a lower level of muscle response in this group. Negative correlations between BMI x AFA (r=-0.29, p=0.05) and between BMI x Diagnostic (r=-0.10, p=0.51) were also demonstrated. Conclusion: The AFA evaluation showed a decreased value in the group of obese patients and as the BMI increases, the nighttime urinary frequency also increases.
