Quantum Algorithms for Unit Group and principal ideal problem

Abstract: Computing the unit group and solving the principal ideal problem for a number field are two of the main tasks in computational algebraic number theory. This paper proposes efficient quantum algorithms for these two problems when the number field has constant degree. We improve these algorithms proposed by Hallgren by using a period function which is not one-to-one on its fundamental period. Furthermore, given access to a function which encodes the lattice, a new method to compute the basis of an unknown real-valued lattice is presented.
The Minimum-Rank Gram Matrix Completion via Modified Fixed Point Continuation Method

Abstract: The problem of computing a representation for a real polynomial as a sum of minimum number of squares of polynomials can be casted as finding a symmetric positive semidefinite real matrix (Gram matrix) of minimum rank subject to linear equality constraints. In this paper, we propose algorithms for solving the minimum-rank Gram matrix completion problem, and show the convergence of these algorithms. Our methods are based on the modified fixed point continuation (FPC) method. We also use the Barzilai-Borwein (BB) technique and a specific linear combination of two previous iterates to accelerate the convergence of modified FPC algorithms. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithms for computing approximate and exact rational sum of squares (SOS) decompositions of polynomials with rational coefficients.
Easily Implemented Rate Compatible Reconciliation Protocol for Quantum Key Distribution

Abstract: Reconciliation is an important step to correct errors in Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). In QKD, after comparing basis, two legitimate parties possess two correlative keys which have some differences and they could obtain identical keys through reconciliation. In this paper, we present a new rate compatible reconciliation scheme based on Row Combining with Edge Variation (RCEV) Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes which could change code rate adaptively in noisy channel where error rate may change with time. Our scheme is easy to implement and could get good efficiency compared to existing schemes. Meanwhile, due to the inherent structure we use, the new scheme not only saves memory space remarkably but also simplifies the decoder architecture and accelerates the decoding.
The Effects of Environmental Awareness and Consumption Value on Green Makeup Product Purchase Intentions  [PDF]

Abstract: Green marketing in the cosmetics industry is emerging and gathering importance, and it dates back to the wave of environmental concern. Therefore, the study aims to explore the effects of environmental awareness and consumption values on the green makeup purchase intention, and examine whether there is a cultural difference. 124 participants answered the questionnaire with all variables. The structural equation model built on the survey data suggested that: 1) environmental attitude and perceived consumer effectiveness in environmental awareness, and epistemic and functional value in consumption values had a positive relationship with green makeup purchase intention, but social value in consumption values had a negative relationship with green makeup purchase intention; 2) the model got from international students was very close to what got from whole data pool, but the dimensions of environmental awareness and social value had no relationship with green makeup purchase intention in Chinese student sample. Findings provide implications for promoting green marketing in cosmetics market.
Evaluation of Satisfaction Survey of Decision-Making Meteorological Services in Shaanxi Province, China in 2017  [PDF]

Abstract: In China, decision-making meteorological services provide meteorological information for the production organization, disaster prevention and mitigation by the CPC committee, government, military leaders and decision-making departments at all levels, as well as scientific decision-making in the areas of rational development and utilization of climate resources and environmental protection. In order to understand the user’s satisfaction with the decision-making meteorological service, the Shaanxi Provincial Meteorological Bureau conducted a statistical survey, and the results showed that: 1) In 2017, the satisfaction level of provincial-level decision-making meteorological services in Shaanxi, China was 92.77%. Among them, the satisfaction index of “Ministry Department Service Personnel Professional Image and Service Awareness” was 94.12%, and the “Weather Forecast Warning Accuracy” satisfaction index was 90.18%. 2) Decision-making users have become an important channel for obtaining meteorological information through meteorological websites, televisions, mobile phone text messages, APP mobile applications, broadcasting, and Meteorological Information Express. Rainstorms, floods, high temperature heat, cold winds, hail, precipitation, and lightning are still the main concerns of decision-makers. 3) The focus on haze and UV intensity is 15% and 8% higher than that of 2016. The next 1 - 3 days weather forecast and 0 - 6 hours short-term forecast are still the most valuable forecast products for decision-making users. Compared with 2016, the next 1 - 3 days weather forecast, future 0 - 6 hours forecast, traffic meteorology, precipitation probability, and air quality forecast increase by 1% to 14% in the year of 2017.

Abstract: In recent years, geosynthetic Clay liners (GCLs) are widely used in different kinds of anti-seep-age projects and the anti-seepage availabilities of GCLs are regarded as increasingly important by engineers. Anti-seepage effectiveness of GCLs involves at least two aspects, such as Hydraulic conductivity of GCLs under engi-neering practice conditions, and Absorption ability of bentonite in GCLs in the course of liq-uid permeation. In this paper, Hydraulic con-ductivity tests are performed to obtain seepage coefficient of GCLs, taking liquids such as dis-tilled, deioned water and landfill leachate, and solutions with single-species cation as the hy-dration and permeation liquid. The results Show that cation valence, cation concentration and hydration ionic radius in hydration and permea-tion liquids have influences on hydraulic con-ductivity of GCLs.
RNF122: A novel ubiquitin ligase associated with calcium-modulating cyclophilin ligand

Abstract: In this study, we characterized RNF122 both biochemically and intracellularly in order to gain an understanding of its biological role. RNF122 was identified as a new ubiquitin ligase that can ubiquitinate itself and undergoes degradation in a RING finger-dependent manner. From a yeast two-hybrid screen, we identified calcium-modulating cyclophilin ligand (CAML) as an RNF122-interacting protein. To examine the interaction between CAML and RNF122, we performed co-immunoprecipitation and colocalization experiments using intact cells. What is more, we found that CAML is not a substrate of ubiquitin ligase RNF122, but that, instead, it stabilizes RNF122.RNF122 can be characterized as a C3H2C3-type RING finger-containing E3 ubiquitin ligase localized to the ER. RNF122 promotes its own degradation in a RING finger-and proteasome-dependent manner. RNF122 interacts with CAML, and its E3 ubiquitin ligase activity was noted to be dependent on the RING finger domain.The ubiquitin-proteasome system is involved in protein degradation and many biological processes such as transcription, cell cycle progression, antigen processing, cellular defense, signaling, and apoptosis [1,2]. In the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, a ubiquitin-activating enzyme (E1) activates ubiquitin (Ub) by attaching it to a substrate via a thiol-ester linkage and then transferring the complex formed to the active-site cysteine of a ubiquitin carrier protein (E2). Formation of isopeptide bonds between the C terminus of Ub and the lysines on the substrate is catalyzed by a ubiquitin ligase (E3), which binds the substrate and catalyzes the transfer of Ub from a specific E2 to the substrate. The formation of a chain of Ub molecules on the substrate generally targets it for degradation by the 26 S proteasome [3]. Constraints on Lorentz invariance violation from gamma-ray burst GRB090510

Abstract: We obtain modified dispersion relations by requiring the vanishing of determinant of inverse of modified photon propagators in Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) theory. Inspired by these dispersion relations, we give a more general dispersion relation with less assumption and apply it to the recent observed gamma-ray burst GRB090510 to extract various constraints on LIV parameters. We find that the constraint on quantum gravity mass is slightly larger than the Planck mass but is consistent with the other recent observations, so the corresponding LIV coefficient $\xi_1$ has reached the natural order ($o(1)$) as one expects. From our analysis, the linear LIV corrections to photon group velocity might be not excluded yet.
