NURE Investigación , 2012,
Abstract: Cross-sectional observational study of 50 caregivers of dependent patient immobilized. We analyzed the sociodemographic characteristics, type and characteristics of care, social, emotional and quality of life of main caregivers. Sociodemographic and care characteristics related to dependent patient immobilized was also studied. Objective: Describing the profile of dependent patient immobilized and their caregiver, and the emotional and social characteristics perceived by the main caregiver. Results: The age of dependent patient immobilized is rising particulary in women, with mental deterioration and dementia as principal diseases. The most of main caregivers are women, married women and daughters of dependent patient immobilized patients, with primary studies, in the middle age. They work almost the complete day in patient care, having less than two hour for themselves. The lack of money is the principal need felt it. The most of caregivers suffer mild to moderate stress and higher anxiety levels than general population, especially in females. Caregiver perceived quality of life is lower than general population too. Conclusions: To know the profile of dependent patient immobilized patient′s caregiver and the factors perceived burden caregiver′s, it is important developing interventions and plans to improve their quality of life related to health in order to reduce the syndrome of main caregiver.

Rect@ , 2012,
Abstract: The present work is the result of the investigation realized by the authoresses on programming languages applied to Non Life Actuarial Mathematics (NLAM). The main objective of this paper is to present and to expose the use of the R programming language in NLAM looking at the experience initiated at the University of Barcelona (UB) during 2009-2010. The contribution of the paper consists of the summary and application of libraries realized by different authors on the topics included in NLAM and its improvement with functions of own production. The article includes, for some of the different blocks that are treated inside NLAM at the UB, a small theoretical summary and numerical examples with R, and with real data of insurance portfolios that can be found in basic papers of actuarial science.

Abstract: fifteen of the thirty-one obligatory communicable diseases in spain, exempting those of congenital or neonatal types, can be transmitted by several species of arthropods that are present in our country. several arthropod orders are the suitable transmitters of tens of bacteria, fungi, virus and protozoa. this fact demands a through of the biology knowledge of these vectors in order to adopt efficient control measures that allow us to reduce the incidence levels of these diseases. nevertheless, the epidemiological studies shouldn’t remain only restricted to the diseases with active transmission cycles in our country. it is necessary to acquire a global vision because of allochton diseases that are perfectly extensible to our territory in the globalization context in which we are situated. all this information is important to know which factors are preventing the disease presence. the aim is to provide the national epidemiological surveillance network with a valuable predictive capacity that allows it to predict the potential arrival of diseases and the consequent strengthening of the spanish public health. the goal of this work is to carry out a review of the spanish arthropod fauna with any vectorial interest. the current situation of some of the more important vectorial diseases in our country and the factors related to a resurgence reappearance and/or intensification of those ones are also discussed. therefore, the study of these inappealable protagonists in our public health as an articulatory element in the complex network that any vectorial disease entails is absolutely necessary.
OBJETOS Y CULTURA: RITUALES, FLUJOS Y ELABORACIONES EN EL NUEVO REINO DE GRANADA
Jiménez Meneses,Orián;
Historia Crítica , 2009,
Abstract: this article studies the circulation, appropriation, and commercial and symbolic uses of objects in colonial society, suggesting ways to understand the circulation of objects and commodities through the spaces of the new kingdom of granada. it tries to specify the functions played by objects in domestic life and, based on their circulation, to weave together the communications they established between cities, towns, and settlements and the centers of power in antioquia and the viceroyalty during the eighteenth century. by going behind the historicity of the objects, the marks they made and their creation, we can better understand the dimensions of their routes, circuits, and nodes as a substantial part of the culture and the relations of interdependence with other societies.

Abstract: objective: to estimate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus and impaired fasting glycemia in an adult population living in madrid (spain). methods: in this cross-sectional, population-based survey, we studied 1,344 adults aged 31-70 years, randomly selected from the population living in 14 primary care districts of the madrid region. all participants underwent a clinical evaluation that included a clinical interview, physical examination and fasting blood analysis (glycemia, cholesterol and triglyceride levels). the participants were considered to be diabetic if they had been previously diagnosed with diabetes by their general physician or had a fasting glycemia > 126mg/dl without a previous diabetes diagnosis. impaired fasting glycemia was defined as fasting glycemia between 100mg/dl and 125mg/dl in non-diabetic participants. results: the sex- and age-adjusted prevalence figures for diabetes and impaired fasting glucose were 6.6% (95% ci: 5.9-8.7) and 14.1% (95% ci: 12.1-15.8), respectively. a substantial proportion of diabetic patients [17.2% (95% ci: 10.9-23.5)] had not been previously diagnosed. the variables independently associated with diabetes were age, male gender, abdominal obesity and hypertension. conclusions: our prevalence figure for diabetes is similar to those reported in other spanish regions. the high frequency of impaired fasting glucose is worrisome, particularly when combined with obesity, as this association confers a high risk for developing diabetes mellitus.
Hábitos de exposición solar y conocimientos sobre el cuidado de la piel en educadores físicos mexicanos, hondure?os y costarricenses
Moneada Jiménez,José; Meneses Montero,Maureen;

Abstract: motion detection in surveillance and monitoring systems is enhanced by the synergistic combination of different kinds of cameras and their optimal distribution over the area of interest. we developed an optimization model for a synergistic vision system based on integer lineal programming. the objectives consist in the following: on one hand computing the optimal position and orientation of all directional and omnidirectional cameras, in order to maximize the workspace coverage and on the other hand detecting the objects motion in the workspace. to detect efficiently the movement, even under global luminosity changes, is used a background subtraction algorithm, which uses spatial information of texture. the proposed method is evaluated using a representative set of real sceneries and a network of cameras. outcomes show that our algorithm is able to determine also the minimal cameras network configuration required to cover a given area.
