The Economic Analysis of Crime Behavior—Deduction of the Game Model between the Law-Man and the Offender  [PDF]

Abstract: George Tsebelis (1989) first uses the game model to analyze the behavior of police and public, but he has been questioned by many scholars in the related research. George’ conclusion and the scholars’ opinions are based on the premise that no pure strategy Nash equilibrium exists in the game. In fact, pure strategy Nash equilibrium exists in certain conditions, and it is necessary to study it because of the stabilization. In this paper, we research on the interaction of the law-man and the offender, and study how the law-man type and the conviction rate influence the behavior of the game participants. This paper also tests the conclusion of George, in the 1V1 game with the 100% conviction rate, the conclusion is correct that the increase of punishment can’t reduce the crime. This paper further discusses the law enforcement range that the law-man can be competent, and how the law-man type, law enforcement costs and the number of law-men impact the law enforcement range.
Goldfish β-catenin cell-autonomously inhibits the expression of early neural development regulating gene vsx1

Abstract: β-catenin gene is essential for the formation of normal dorsal axial structure in vertebrates. Recent studies have provided evidence that β-catenin has a certain role in restricting the amount of organizer-induced neurectoderm formation in zebrafish and Xenopus laevis. To further understand how β-catenin represses the induction of neurectoderm formation and whether the inhibition of neural progenitor fates is essential for the normal organizer formation, it was investigated whether β-catenin was involved in repressing the early neural regulatory gene Visual system homeobox-1 (vsx1) expression during embryogenesis. It was observed that functional inhibition of endogenous β-catenin by morpholino oligonucleotides (MO) resulted in extensive and ubiquitous vsx1 expression, β-catenin could repress vsx1 promoter-driven GFP expression and transcriptional factor gene boz, the direct target gene of β-catenin, could directly repress vsx1 transcription by binding to vsx1 proximal promoter. These observations indicate that β-catenin can repress vsx1 ectopic expression cell-autonomously while it activates chordamesodermal genes expression in the precursory cells of chordamesoderm, suggesting both activation of chordamesodermal genes and repression of neural regulatory genes vsx1 in precursory chordamesoderm by β-catenin are essential for normal notochord formation.
Goldfish vsx1 inhibits chordamesoderm gene ntl expression at the dorsal midline

Abstract: vsx1 (visual system homeobox-1), a homeobox gene originally identified from an adult goldfish retinal cDNA library, has been shown to regulate retina progenitor proliferation, differentiation and functional maintenance of bipolar cells in vertebrates. However, in all the examined vertebrate species, vsx1 transcripts can be also detected at the early developmental stage, suggesting that it may play an important role in regulating early embryogenesis as well. Here, we investigated the function of vsx1 in early embryogenesis of goldfish (Carassius auratus) with both overexpression and gene knockdown approaches. It was found that vsx1 overexpression specifically blocked dorsal midline structure formation and vsx1 knockdown led to disorganized dorsal midline structure. Whole-mount in situ hybridization revealed that the midline expression of ntl, a key regulatory gene for chordamesoderm, was repressed by vsx1 overexpression but enhanced in the vsx1 knockdown. Furthermore, VSX1 protein could bind ntl promoter directly and was sufficient to inhibit ntl promoter-driven reporter gene green fluorescence protein transcription. Together, these results suggested that vsx1 may act to repress ectopic expression of ntl in neural progenitor cells to ensure neural tube development in a spatially coordinated pattern during early embryogenesis.
CHIP Regulates AKT/FoxO/Bim Signaling in MCF7 and MCF10A Cells

Abstract: A number of studies have shown that apoptosis resistance can be observed in multiple human tumors; however the detailed mechanism remains unclear. In the present study, we demonstrated that the abnormal overexpression of the C terminus of Hsc70-interacting protein (CHIP) induced apoptosis resistance by regulating the AKT/FoxO/Bim signaling pathway in the breast cancer cell MCF7 and the human non-tumorigenic cell MCF10A. We found that CHIP overexpression in MCF7 and MCF10A cells activated AKT and inhibited the Forkhead box O (FoxO) transcription factors FoxO1, FoxO3, and FoxO4, thereby inhibiting transcription of the target genes bim and pten. Inhibition of PI3K by a chemical reagent revealed that these events may be critical for CHIP-induced apoptosis resistance. We also determined that inhibition of FoxO3 by CHIP led to the decrease in PTEN and further activated the AKT survival pathway. We corroborated our findings in breast cancer tissues. In general, the CHIP-modulated AKT/FoxO/Bim signaling pathway was shown to induce apoptosis resistance by decreasing the protein level of the tumor suppressor PTEN in both transcriptional and post-translational regulations.
A Novel Attack Graph Posterior Inference Model Based on Bayesian Network  [PDF]

Abstract: Network attack graphs are originally used to evaluate what the worst security state is when a concerned net-work is under attack. Combined with intrusion evidence such like IDS alerts, attack graphs can be further used to perform security state posterior inference (i.e. inference based on observation experience). In this area, Bayesian network is an ideal mathematic tool, however it can not be directly applied for the following three reasons: 1) in a network attack graph, there may exist directed cycles which are never permitted in a Bayesian network, 2) there may exist temporal partial ordering relations among intrusion evidence that can-not be easily modeled in a Bayesian network, and 3) just one Bayesian network cannot be used to infer both the current and the future security state of a network. In this work, we improve an approximate Bayesian posterior inference algorithm–the likelihood-weighting algorithm to resolve the above obstacles. We give out all the pseudocodes of the algorithm and use several examples to demonstrate its benefit. Based on this, we further propose a network security assessment and enhancement method along with a small network scenario to exemplify its usage.

Abstract: Up to the present, nearly fourteen years have passed since China’s accession to WTO. Among the various impacts the accession may bring about, the one on State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) was most widely concerned due to their special characteristics and particular roles in Chinese economy, politics and society. This essay will briefly introduce the history of China’s SOE reforms and then summarize previous research to demonstrate the expected influences of the accession. Then privatization and removal of protective government policies will be examined in detail, followed by an evaluation of the effect of privatization.
The Relationship between China’s Population Structure Change in Minority Areas, Economic Growth and Demographic Dividend—Based on an Empirical Analysis of Time Series Data from 1992 to 2012  [PDF]

Abstract: Because the sustainability of the economic development model has drawn much attention recently, the academic circle and the government have begun to focus on the population of minority areas. In past literature, due to the lack of the positive analysis of the relationship between minority population transition and economic development, and due to sample limitation and other factors, the research result is not very convincing. This paper used the economic convergence theory to establish a theoretical model, and selected the panel data in eight minority-concentrated provinces from 1992 to 2012 to analyze the impact of population transition in these provinces on economic growth. The result reveals a significant positive correlation between investment, human capital, the growth rate of labor and per capita GDP growth, a significant negative correlation between children’s dependency ratio and per capita GDP growth, and an uncertain relationship between elderly dependency ratio and per capita GDP growth. To maximize the democratic dividend, it is necessary to speed up the development of educational undertakings in minority areas, and to accelerate the industrial structure transition of minority areas. It is also important to perfect institutional improvement of minority areas.

Abstract:
With the increasing number of city cars, traffic jams and parking difficulties have become a bottleneck of urban development. Creating the conditions to achieve the dynamic balance between road and automobile resources and allocate the parking resources reasonably is not only beneficial to the rapid development of cities, but also convenient for people to travel by bus or car. It can also ensure orderly parking, implementation of normative management, which can solve the problem of traffic jam and parking difficulties thoroughly. This paper takes the city of Hangzhou as an example, discussing the existing problems and countermeasures in urban parking planning and management. This paper first analyzes the existing problems in Hangzhou parking management from aspects, such as the serious shortage of parking lots, the lack of a clear management body, the inefficient use of car parks in some areas and lack of a long-term mechanism to attract social forces to participate in car park construction, and then proposes solutions to the problems from different aspects, such as giving full play to the pilot role of urban parking planning and management, establishing and improving the mechanism on parking lot management, and introduces social forces to participate in the construction and management of car parks, which provides reference for the planning and management of urban parking lot in China.

Abstract:
The 13th five-year plan proposed that rural poor people in China’s current standards will lift out of poverty by 2020, and all the poor counties were lifted out of poverty, addressing regional overall poverty. Since then, China’s poverty alleviation work has been fought in an all-round way. Targeted poverty alleviation is the mode of poverty alleviation that applies scientific and effective procedures to implement precise identification, accurate help, and precise management, aiming at different poverty-stricken farmers and different poverty- stricken areas. Firstly, this paper studies the problems that are prevalent in the process of promoting financial support for targeted poverty alleviation in China, takes Hebei province as an example to analyze the current situation of financial precision poverty alleviation, proposes to vigorously develop inclusive finance in poor areas, and advocates that financial institutions work closely with government departments to improve the effectiveness of anti- poverty work and establish and improve the risk diversification compensation mechanism to promote the sustainable development of financial poverty, as a result to effectively promote the process of targeted poverty alleviation and to achieve the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020.
