Evaluation of Influence of Acupuncture and Electro-Acupuncture for Blood Perfusion of Stomach by Laser Doppler Blood Perfusion Imaging

Abstract: The objective of this study is to observe effects of acupuncture and electro-acupuncture (EA) on blood perfusion in the stomach, and probe into the application of laser Doppler blood perfusion imaging technique in the study of the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on the entrails. In the acupuncture group of 20 rats, acupuncture was given at “Zusanli” (ST 36) and in EA group of 18 rats, EA was applied at “Zusanli” (ST 36), with 18 rats without acupuncture used as control group. Changes of blood perfusion and microcirculation distribution in the stomach were investigated with laser Doppler blood perfusion imager (LDPI). The laser Doppler blood perfusion image could clearly display changes of blood flow distribution in the stomach before and after acupuncture. After acupuncture or EA was given at “Zusanli” (ST 36), the blood perfusion in the stomach increased significantly, the blood perfusion in the blood vessels and microcirculation of other parts significantly increased, and the maximum increase of the blood perfusion was found at 10 min after acupuncture or EA, with increases of 0.50 _ 0.11 (PU) and 0.66 _ 0.16 (PU), respectively, and the blood perfusion still kept at a higher degree within 10 min after ceasing of the acupuncture or EA. While the blood perfusion in the stomach in the rat of the control group tended to gradual decrease. It has been concluded that both acupuncture and EA can increase blood perfusion in the stomach, the EA having stronger action, and LDPI can display the regulative action of acupuncture on the blood vessel of the stomach by using an image.
Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of integrative medicine therapy for treatment of chronic severe hepatitis

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Chronic severe hepatitis is a critical disease with high mortality. Currently, effective drugs and therapy still lack. Comprehensive and supportive treatment, artificial liver and liver transplantation are the main therapies. A great number of studies on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in many ways combined with Western medicine treatment for chronic severe hepatitis have been reported, but the efficacy and safety still lack systematic evaluation.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of integrative medicine therapy for chronic severe hepatitis.SEARCH STRATEGY: Literature was searched from PubMed, the Cochrane Library, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, the Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database and Wanfang Database. The time limitation ran from the commencement of each database to February 29, 2012.INCLUSION CRITERIA: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) testing Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) combined with Western medicine (comprehensive and supportive treatment or artificial liver plasma exchange) against Western medicine were included.DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS: Two authors collected and extracted data independently. The methodological quality of literature was assessed by risk of bias table from Cochrane Collaboration and the data were analyzed by RevMan 5.1 software. Heterogeneity of the included studies was checked by Chi-square test. The efficacy measure was relative risk (RR) or mean difference with a 95% confidence interval (CI).RESULTS: A total of 45 RCTs involving 4 449 patients with chronic severe hepatitis were included. Quality of all included trials was low. The oral CHM, enema and combined TCM with either Western medicine or plasma exchange were superior to Western medicine alone in improving total effective rate and reducing mortality with significant differences. In laboratory parameters, the integrative medicine treatment group was better than Western control group in reducing the total bilirubin and alanine aminotransferase, but two groups showed equal efficacy in lowering aspartate aminotransferase activity. The oral Chinese medicine combined with Western medicine or plasma exchange was better than Western medicine used alone in improving albumin synthesis and coagulation function, but Chinese medicine enema had no significant effect on the level of plasma albumin. Influence of Dopants in ZnO Films on Defects

Abstract: The influence of dopants in ZnO films on defects is investigated by slow positron annihilation technique. The results show S that parameters meet SAl>Sun>SAg for Al-doped ZnO films, undoped and Ag-doped ZnO films. Zinc vacancies are found in all ZnO films with different dopants. According to S parameter and the same defect type, it can be induced that the zinc vacancy concentration is the highest in the Al-doped ZnO film, and it is the least in the Ag-doped ZnO film. When Al atoms are doped in the ZnO films grown on silicon substrates, Zn vacancies increase as compared to the undoped and Ag-doped ZnO films. The dopant concentration could determine the position of Fermi level in materials, while defect formation energy of zinc vacancy strongly depends on the position of Fermi level, so its concentration varies with dopant element and dopant concentration.

Fabrication and optical properties of MgxZn1-xO thin films

Abstract: Mg_xZn_1 - xO (x \le 0.3) thin films have been prepared on silicon substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering at room temperature. The thin films have hexagonal wurtzite single-phase structure and a preferred orientation with the c-axis perpendicular to the substrates. The Mg content in the films is slightly larger than that in the targets. The refractive indices of Mg_xZn_1 - xO films measured at room temperature by spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) on the wavelength 632.8~nm are systematically decreased with the increasing of Mg content. Optical band gaps of Mg_xZn_1 - xO films are determined by the transmittance spectra. With increasing Mg content, the absorption edges of Mg_xZn_1 - xO films shift to higher energies and band gaps linearly increase from 3.24~eV at x=0 to 3.90~eV at x =0.30.

Abstract: The Euclidean Steiner tree problem concerns the construction of a tree that connects a given set of terminal points in Euclidean space with the minimal total lengths.This paper presents three fast algorithms:insertion algorithm,incremental optimization algorithm and genetic algorithm that are implemented on PC-compatibles for finding the optimal Steiner tree.Series of computational instances are tested,and the experimental performances show that the results are within satisfaction.

A SCHEME FOR OBTAINING HIGH GAIN-LENGTH PRODUCT IN RECOMBINATION X-RAY LASER BY USING A LOW DENSITY TARGET

Abstract: A scheme for obtaining high gain-length product(GL) of recombination X-ray laser is proposed and theoretically studied, in which a thin fiber with a density less than the critical one is driven by a short pulse laser. The features of laser-produced plasma and the gain coefficients of the transition from n = 3 to n = 2 of the H-like ions for a solid fiber and a low-density cylindrical target of carbon are shown. The Sobolev escape probability in a self-similarly expanding cylindrical geometry is used to evaluate the trapping effect on the gain coefficient. According to the simulations there are three obvious advantages of the low-density target, ie., wider gain region, longer lasing duration and no drift of the gain region. In addition, only a few joules are needed for getting saturated GL value.
A Metal-Based Inhibitor of NEDD8-Activating Enzyme

Abstract: A cyclometallated rhodium(III) complex [Rh(ppy)2(dppz)]+ (1) (where ppy = 2-phenylpyridine and dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine dipyridophenazine) has been prepared and identified as an inhibitor of NEDD8-activating enzyme (NAE). The complex inhibited NAE activity in cell-free and cell-based assays, and suppressed the CRL-regulated substrate degradation and NF-κB activation in human cancer cells with potency comparable to known NAE inhibitor MLN4924. Molecular modeling analysis suggested that the overall binding mode of 1 within the binding pocket of the APPBP1/UBA3 heterodimer resembled that for MLN4924. Complex 1 is the first metal complex reported to suppress the NEDDylation pathway via inhibition of the NEDD8-activating enzyme.

Abstract: The method based on Knowledge Evolution Algorithm was researched to solve the problem of Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Predicted Maintenance Scheduling. The detailed realization of the method was illustrated. The example of other literatures was computed. By comparison of the result, it can be found that this proposed algorithm illustrated its higher searching efficiency than the Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithem and First in first out(FIFO) method of other literatures.
