Narraciones escritas en ni os con Trastorno Específico del Lenguaje (TEL) / Written Narration in Specific Language Impairment (SLI)
Manuel Soriano-Ferrer,Ma Carmen Contreras-González
Universitas Psychologica , 2012,
Arbor : Ciencia, Pensamiento y Cultura , 2004,
Abstract: Background: Drug dependence can be associated with aspects such as effects from drug consumption and addiction, health issues (physical and psychiatric comorbidity), legal and social aspects. Objective: To know the tools used by nurses to deal with ethical conflicts arising from drug dependant patients′ care. Methods: Two groups of nurses were divided: a specialist care one (7 nurses), particularly in a Hospital Detoxification Unit, and other of primary care (12 nurses). Sessions were held in which nurses expressed their experiences, ideas, feelings and strategies related to the relationship - care of drug addict patients. Results: There are important issues for nurses that influence the appearance of ethical conflicts in dealing with drug addictions such as: communication between the team, deliberation and consensus decision making, specialized training and personnel experience, description of "difficult patient" ; concepts in the clinical relationshi

Abstract: Estrogens and phytoestrogens have neuroprotective effect against neuronal damage induced by cerebral ischemia /reperfusion (I/R) injury. In preceding studies, the phytoestrogen effects have been assessed by administration previous to the ischemic period, conditions which are unusual to apply to the treatment of human stroke. Here we present a study on neuroprotection afforded by genistein on rat embryo cortical neurons subjected to oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD) followed by re-oxigenation, when added after the stress stimulus. At 1 and 2 h of OGD times and after 24 h of reperfusion, cell viability, necrotic, apoptotic and autophagic cell death and different parameters related to oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction were measured in the absence and presence of 1 µM genisteine. We found an in-creasing loss of neuronal viability after 1-5 h of OGD which was only reversed in part by 24 h of reperfusion. These changes were preceded by increases in ROS generation, caspase-3 activation, LDH release and increase in LC3B lipi-dation, indicative of autophagia. Treatment with 1 µM genistein during the 24 h reperfusion significantly attenuated neuronal necrosis and autophagia induced by 1 and 2 h of OGD exposure. Genistein also decreased ROS generation and lipid-peroxidation induced by 2 h of OGD. These results suggest an important neuroprotective effect of genistein against transient post-ischemic-like conditions

Abstract: To describe the smoking habits of the mothers participating in the INMA (INfancia y Medio Ambiente or Childhood and the Environment) cohort of Valencia and to determine which occupational factors are associated with smoking cessation during pregnancy. Cohort study comprising 855 pregnant women from Health Service Areas 6 and 7 was set up in the Autonomous Region of Valencia, Spain. Data on smoking and smoking cessation during pregnancy, and on sociodemographic and work related variables were collected through structured questionnaires at the first and third trimester of pregnancy. Multivariate logistic regression models were constructed to assess factors related to smoking at the beginning of the pregnancy and to continued smoking. 787 women followed in the project and completed all the data. Among them 40.9% smoked at the beginning of pregnancy and 56.2% continued until gestational week 32. Time and effort spent on housework was associated with smoking at the beginning of pregnancy while stress in the workplace related variables contributed to both the prevalence of smoking at the beginning of the pregnancy and the persistence in the habit throughout pregnancy. We found a high prevalence of smoking among the pregnant mothers. Both, conditions in the workplace, as well as the burden of housework were found to be risk factors for smoking and not quitting during pregnancy. These factors should be taken into account when developing health programs designed to encourage the incorporation of healthy habits into the lives of pregnant women.

Abstract: To find if ornamental plants are applicable to the remediation of metal-polluted areas, the tolerance of chrysanthemum plants (Chysanthemum maximum) var. Shasta to different metals under hydroponic conditions was studied. Their responses as influenced by the mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae (Nicol. & Gerd.) Gerdemann & Trappe BEG25 on substrates containing mine residues were also investigated. Our results showed that chrysanthemum is a metal-tolerant plant under hydroponic conditions, plants behaving as Pb-excluders, whereas Cd, Cu and Ni were accumulated in roots. Low accumulation in flowers was observed for Cd and Cu but it was concentration-dependent. Ni and Pb were not translocated to flowers. Shoot biomass was not significantly affected by the different rates of mine residue addition for both mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal plants. Mycorrhizal plants accumulated less Pb and Cu in both shoots and roots than non-mycorrhizal plants. Chysanthemum could be a prospective plant for revegetation of tailings and the use of inoculation may decrease plant metal accumulation in polluted soils.
Perineal massage
Laura Duarte González,Silvia García González,Ma Carmen Mejías Paneque
NURE Investigación , 2013,
Abstract: Most women want to give birth without perineal tears, cuts or sutures, because these often cause back pain and discomfort and may have a negative impact on sexual functioning. It is suggested that perineal massage during the last month of pregnancy as a possible way of allowing the perineal tissue to expand more easily during birth. Perineal massage, which makes the woman or her partner (for only one or two times a week from 35 weeks) reduces the likelihood of perineal trauma (mainly episiotomies) and perineal pain during and after birth. The FAME (Federation of Associations for Midwives in Spain) recognizes that perineal massage during pregnancy reduces perineal trauma (episiotomy and tears) during childbirth.
