Abstract: To solve the problem of the large Doppler frequency offset in the LEO communication system, this paper studies a rapid PN code acquisition method based on the PMF-FFT architecture, which searches the phase and frequency offset and at the same time reduces the acquisition time. It presents an improved method equivalent to windowing function and uses windowing process to overcome the attenuation of related peak envelope caused by partial matched filters.
Effect of Zn Substitution on the Magnetic and Magnetocapacitance Properties of Nanosized Multiferroic GaFeO3 Ceramics  [PDF]

Abstract: This article aims to investigate the possibility to turn the multiferroic orders and magnetocapacitance effect close to/above room temperature in nanosized GaFeO3 ceramics by a sol-gel preparation method and substitution with non-magnetic Zn atoms. Therefore, in this work, we have synthesized a series of nanocrystalline Ga1-xZnxFeO3(GZFO, x = 0, 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1) ceramic samples and study the effect of Zn substitution on their structural, magnetic, and electric properties. All the GZFO samples have an orthorhombic structure with Pc21n space group and the value of lattice parameters increase systematically with increasing Zn concentration. Interestingly, it shows that magnetic and electric properties are strongly dependent on the Zn substitution concentration. Based on the results of temperature-dependent magnetizations, M(T), it is observed that with increasing Zn-content up to 0.10, the ferrimagnetic transition temperature (TC) increases from 306 to 320 K. Quantitative analysis and classification of tongue inspection based on the visible reflection spectrum

Abstract: Objective: In this study, optical data on color of tongue tips were collected by using a visible reflection spectrum system. Quantitative method of tongue inspection and classification of tongue states including pale, pale red, red and crimson manifestations were investigated. Methods: Chromaticity coordinates of the tongue tips from 98 subjects were calculated on the basis of the visible reflection spectrum. The tongue color was quantified and classified by the visible reflection spectrum in the range from 590 nm to 780 nm, based on the higher red-band energy distribution on the tongue tip color. Results: It was found that comparison and analysis of tongue tip color from different samples would be well-suited after spectrum vector normalization, and the difference of tongue tip color between different samples could be observed easily when the tongue tip optical data were sited in CIE 1931 chromaticity diagram. The tongue tip colors were analyzed quantitatively and classified by the spectral energy intensity at the wavelength of 670 nm and (or) spectral energy ratio of red bank from 590 nm to 780 nm. The results of classification showed that there was sound corresponding accuracy with the clinical diagnosis of pale tongue, pale red tongue, red tongue and crimson tongue.Conclusion: In this study, based on the collection of the information data on tongue tip characteristics with the visible spectrum from 380 nm to 780 nm, the quantitative analysis of tongue inspection for pale tongue, pale red tongue, red tongue and crimson tongue was established. The quantitative value for tongue tip color is an effective method for classification of the condition of the tongue tip, which provides a useful tool for the modernization of tongue inspection in traditional Chinese medicine.

A novel phase-modulation to intensity-modulation (PM-to-IM) converter is proposed and experimentally demonstrated basing on a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL). Comparing with the published schemes, in which the employed DI, FBG, OBPF or dispersion devices can only process a certain phase-modulated RF signal, the proposed scheme can achieve the conversion process in an economic and resourceful manner. To be the first one of achieving such PM-to-IM conversion process by a VCSEL, the feasibility of the proposal is experimentally demonstrated with an open eye diagram when it is employed to convert phase-modulated RF signal.

On Routing-Optimal Network for Multiple Unicasts

Abstract: In this paper, we consider networks with multiple unicast sessions. Generally, non-linear network coding is needed to achieve the whole rate region of network coding. Yet, there exist networks for which routing is sufficient to achieve the whole rate region, and we refer to them as routing-optimal networks. We identify a class of routing-optimal networks, which we refer to as information-distributive networks, defined by three topological features. Due to these features, for each rate vector achieved by network coding, there is always a routing scheme such that it achieves the same rate vector, and the traffic transmitted through the network is exactly the information transmitted over the cut-sets between the sources and the sinks in the corresponding network coding scheme. We present more examples of information-distributive networks, including some examples from index coding and single unicast with hard deadline constraint.
Aseismic strengthening techniques of Chinese typical stele relics:A case study of Xi’an Beilin

Abstract: In order to improve the seismic performance of Chinese traditional stele relics, a suitable aseismic strengthening method of Chinese traditional stele relics is proposed. Taking the typical stele relic in Xi’an Beilin as an example, the on-site investigations were carried out to obtain the actual geometric size and damage state of the stele relic. Then, the structural performance of the stele relic was analyzed by the finite element software ANSYS. Finally, the two different aseismic strengthening methods of the traditional stele relic are proposed and comparatively analyzed. The results show that in addition to the common problems, such as weathering, and cracks, etc, earthquakes seriously threaten the structural safety of stele relics. Under the rarely-occurring earthquake of eight degree, the unstrengthened stele relic will be overturned, and many cracks will occur at the connection area of stele body and stele pedestal. When the stele relic is strengthened by the stainless angle steel strengthening method, the stele relic will not be overturned, but some cracks will occur at the connection area of stele body and stele pedestal. When the stele relic is strengthened by the base isolation strengthening method, the stele relic will not be overturned, and no cracks will occur at the connection area of stele body and stele pedestal. Therefore, the aseismic strengthening effect of the base isolation strengthening method is obviously better than that of the stainless angle steel strengthening method, and this method is a suitable aseismic strengthening method of Chinese traditional stele relics.
Mechanical properties of monodirectional Gutou mortise-tenon jointsof the traditional timber buildings in the Yangtze River region

Abstract: The mechanical properties of the monodirectional Gutou mortise-tenon joints of the ancient Chinese traditional timber buildings in the Yangtze River region were studied using the experimental method. Three monodirectional Gutou mortise-tenon joints were designed according to the actual configurations. The failure modes, the hysteretic curves, the skeleton curves, the rotation rigidities, and the energy dissipation capacity of this type of mortise-tenon joints under the low cyclic reversed loading were obtained. The results show that the hysteretic curves of the monodirectional Gutou mortise-tenon joints appear to be Z shape and have obvious pinch effects. During the process of the test, these mortise-tenon joints pass orderly through the elastic stage, the yield stage and the failure stage. The energy dissipation capacity of these mortise-tenon joints generally decreases with the increase in the rotation angle. The equivalent viscous damping coefficients of the monodirectional Gutou mortise-tenon joints are between 0.161 and 0.193. The results can provide the theoretical base for the computing analysis and repair design of Chinese traditional timber buildings in the Yangtze River region.
Diameter- and Shape-Controlled ZnS/Si Nanocables and Si Nanotubes for SERS and Photocatalytic Applications

Abstract: ZnS/Si nanocables were synthesized via a simple two-step thermal evaporation method. The shape and diameter of the ZnS/Si nanocables can be controlled by adjusting the morphologies of the ZnS nanostructures (nanowire or nanoribbon) obtained in the first step and the deposition time of the Si shell in the second step, respectively. Furthermore, we obtained polycrystalline Si nanotubes with different shapes and diameters by etching away the inner ZnS core. The as-prepared Si nanotubes were employed as SERS-active substrates, which exhibited a high sensitivity for the detection of R6G. The Si nanotubes also showed effective photocatalytic activity on the decomposition of R6G under the irradiation of visible light.
MWCNT-Based Ag2S-TiO2 Nanocomposites Photocatalyst: Ultrasound-Assisted Synthesis, Characterization, and Enhanced Catalytic Efficiency

Abstract: Multiwalled carbon nanotube based nanoscale Ag2S and TiO2 composites have successfully synthesized via a facile ultrasound-assisted method. The nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectra, BET surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The Ag2S-TiO2/CNT nanocomposites exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2 for the degradation of Rhodamine B (Rh.B) under UV and visible light. The improved photocatalytic activities may be attributed to increased adsorbability of Rh.B molecules and increased charge transfer rate in the presence of a one-dimensional MWCNT network.
