Silva, M.R.M.;Marenco, R.A.;
Planta Daninha , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-83582001000100004
Abstract: ishaemum rugosum is one of the most important weeds in irrigated rice in the state of maranh?o, brazil. an experiment was conducted to evaluate the nitrogen content in the leaf, stem and root of i. rugosum under three levels of shading (10, 60 and 70%) at 91 and 112 days after emergence and in the panicle at 133 dae. nitrogen levels were greater in the leaf, stem, roots and panicles at 70% of shading compared to either 60 or 10% shading. however, vegetative parts of the rice plants showed greater nitrogen content at 91 dae. it was concluded that shading increased nitrogen content of plants os i. rugosum.
Valida??o de método analítico para análise de amitraz em mel utilizando GC/TSD
Silva, F.S.;Marchi, M.R.R.;
Eclética Química , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-46702010000400008
Abstract: this paper describes the validation of method for analysis of the acaricide amitraz in honey using n-hexane/acetone extraction, cleanup in cartridge of solid phase extraction (spe) and analysis by gas chromatography with nitrogen-phosphorus detector (gc -tsd). the method can be used to monitor the presence of the pesticide amitraz in honey because of its good analytical parameters, precision (cv <11%) and accuracy (> 80%) in the range of 100-400 ng g-1. the limit set in the european union, by committee for veterinary medicinal products, for amitraz in honey (200 ng g-1) is within this range. the response of the analytical system was linear between 100 and 800 ng ml-1 with correlation coefficient of 0.9996, limit of detection (ld -7 ng g-1) and quantification (lq -100 ng g-1). the sample was fortified at three concentrations 100 ng g-1, 200 ng g-1 and 400 ng g-1, giving an average recovery of 80, 88 and 92% respectively. the validated method was used to assess the quality of honey sold in the city of araraquara/sp, in which there were no residues of amitraz.

Silva, M.R.M.;Durigan, J.C.;
Planta Daninha , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-83582006000400009
Abstract: this work was carried out to evaluate weed interference periods in upland rice during two growth seasons (2003/2004 and 2004/2005) in an experimental area owned by universidade de s?o paulo - unesp, jaboticabal/sp located at 21o 15' 22" south latitude and 48o 18' 58" west longitude, using the rice cultivar iac 202, sown on november18, 2003 and november, 24, 2004. the experimental design was randomized blocks, and the treatments consisted of increasing periods of control or coexistence with the culture. the initial periods of control or weed coexistence after culture emergence were: 0-10; 0-20; 0-30; 0-40; 050; 0-60; 070; 0-harvest. the main weeds in 2003/04 were c. rotundus, c. echinatus, digitaria spp., e. crusgalli and b. decumbens. in 2004/2005, digitaria spp., c. echinatus, r. raphanistrum and a. tenella were identified. considering 5% of tolerance in rice yield reduction during the two growth seasons (2003/2004 and 2004/2005), it was concluded that the periods prior to interference were 12 and 26 days after emergence (dae); total periods of interference prevention, were 40 and 42 dae and critical periods of interference prevention, between 12 and 40 dae and 26 and 42 dae, respectively.
(In)justice contexts and work satisfaction: The mediating role of justice perceptions
Silva, M.R.,Caetano, A.,Zhou, Q.
International Journal of Business Science and Applied Management , 2012,
Abstract: This study explores the impact of the social context, namely (in)justice climate and target, in workers' justice perceptions and satisfaction. Individual's justice judgments are expected to mediate the relationship of (in)justice climate and target with work satisfaction. We found mediation effects of procedural justice in the relationship between justice climate and satisfaction, and interactional justice in the relationship between injustice target and satisfaction. Distributive justice does not affect the relationship between the (in)justice context and satisfaction. Findings demonstrate the relevance of framing organizational justice in a socially contextualized perspective since they seem to influence individual justice reactions and work attitudes. Using an experimental methodology, it was possible to explore the role of seldom studied contextual variables.

Association of loss of heterozygosity with cytogenetic abnormalities in acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome

Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-879X2008000700010
Abstract: deletions on chromosomes 5 and 7 are frequently seen in myelodysplastic syndrome (mds) and acute myeloid leukemia (aml). it is assumed that these deletions indicate loss of tumor suppressor genes on these chromosomes and until these tumor suppressor genes are identified, the functional consequences of these deletions and the molecular basis of these myeloid disorders cannot be completely understood. we evaluated loss of heterozygosity (loh) in 44 patients (18 mds and 26 aml, diagnosed according to who classification criteria) at diagnosis, using a four-microsatellite marker panel: an intragenic marker on the 7th intron of gene irf-1 of the 5q31.1 region and three markers located inside the 7q31.1 region and correlated the loh with karyotype abnormalities. the microsatellites chosen corresponded to chromosome regions frequently deleted in mds/aml. the samples with q (peak area) less than or equal to 0.50 were indicative of loh. the percent of informative samples (i.e., heterozygous) for the intragenic microsatellite in gene irf-1 and in loci d7s486, d7s515 and d7s522 were 66.6, 73.7, 75.5, and 48.8%, respectively. cytogenetic abnormalities by g-banding were found in 36% (16/44) of the patients (2 of 18 mds and 14 of 26 aml patients). we found a significantly positive association of the occurrence of loh with abnormal karyotype (p < 0.05; chi-square test) and there were cases with loh but the karyotype was normal (by g-banding). these data indicate that loh in different microsatellite markers is possibly an event previous to chromosomal abnormalities in these myeloid neoplasias.

Motricidade , 2011,
Abstract: The research examined the effects of different intensities and different rest intervals of strength training on the rating of perceived exertion (RPE) in young athletes. Participated in the study 23 young men, aged 17.06 ± .73 years, 68.01 ± 8.09 kg of body mass, and 173.65 ± 5.61 cm of height. They were submitted to the appropriateness of charges (5 RM, 10 RM or 15 RM) and rest intervals (30, 60 or 120 s) and then asked to point perceived exertion according to the OMNI-RES scale. A two-way ANOVA was used and significant differences were analyzed by post-hoc Bonferroni. For RPE there were no significant differences between the intensities in the recovery intervals evaluated. For intervals with the same intensity, there were differences between 15 RM and range of 120 and 60 s with 15 RM and 30 s intervals. Intensities of 10 and 5 RM, in the range of 120 s showed significant differences. It follows that the smaller the rest interval the greater the levels of fatigue regardless of the number of repetitions performed in all intensities and it may be inferred that the RPE was sensitive to reduction in the rest interval.

Abstract: the occurrence of amphiorchis caborojoensis fischthal & acholonu 1976 and carettacola stunkardi martin & bamberger 1952 in a young specimen of hawksbill sea turtle eretmochelys imbricata linnaeus 1758 in brazil was reported. five a. caborojoensis trematodes were found in the small intestine (n=2) and liver (n=3), and two adult c. stunkardi specimens were collected from body wash. this is the first report of parasites of e. imbricata in brazilian waters and southwestern atlantic ocean and the second report of members of the spirorchiidae family in that region. in addition, e. imbricata is a new host recorded for c. stunkardi.
Temperature dependence of the absorption coefficient in doped quantum wells
Baldan, M.R.;Serra, R.M.;Emmel, P.D.;Silva, A. Ferreira da;
Brazilian Journal of Physics , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-97331999000400021
Abstract: in this work we present a calculation of the infrared optical absorption coefficient for a ga1-xalxas quantum well (qw) as a function of donor impurity concentration, compensation and temperature. we treat this problem using a self-consistent method (sc) calculation taking into account donors as major impurities. the variational method was used to obtain the ground state wave-function of an electron bound to a donor impurity in a qw. the results show a shift of energy in the absorption coefficient.
