The Optimum Blend: Affordances and Challenges of Blended Learning For Students
Nuray Gedik,Ercan Kiraz,M. Yaarzden
Turkish Online Journal of Qualitative Inquiry , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to elicit students’ perceptions regarding the most facilitative and most challenging features (affordances and barriers) in a blended course design. Following the phenomenological approach of qualitative inquiry, data were collected from ten undergraduate students who had experiences in a blended learning environment. Data were collected from the students’ weekly reflection papers, interviews with students, and documents, and analyzed by structurally and texturally describing the resulting experiences and perceptions. The findings of the study indicate that used together, online and face-to-face course structures offer several opportunities and challenges for students. The participating students mentioned interaction and communication opportunities, increased motivation, increased opportunities to voice their opinions, and reinforcement of learning as the affordances in the blended learning environment. The barriers included increased workload, cultural and technical barriers, and the inter-dependence of the two environments. Implications and suggestions are offered for instructors in higher education settings.
A Simple Jerky Dynamics, Genesio System  [PDF]

International Journal of Modern Nonlinear Theory and Application (IJMNTA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ijmnta.2013.21007

The third order explicit autonomous differential equations named as jerk equations represent an interesting subclass of dynamical systems that can exhibit many major features of the regular and chaotic motion. In this paper, we show that an algebraically simple system, the Genesio system can be recast into a jerky dynamics and its jerk equation can be derived from one-dimensional Newtonian equation. We also investigate the global dynamical properties of the corresponding jerk system.

Numerical Treatment of Initial Value Problems of Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations by Duan-Rach-Wazwaz Modified Adomian Decomposition Method  [PDF]

International Journal of Modern Nonlinear Theory and Application (IJMNTA) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ijmnta.2019.81002
Abstract: We employ the Duan-Rach-Wazwaz modified Adomian decomposition method for solving initial value problems for the systems of nonlinear ordinary differential equations numerically. In order to confirm practicality, robustness and reliability of the method, we compare the results from the modified Adomian decomposition method with those from the MATHEMATICA solutions and also from the fourth-order Runge Kutta method solutions in some cases. Furthermore, we apply Padé approximants technique to improve the solutions of the modified decomposition method whenever the exact solutions exist.
Tanzimat D nemi Osmanl Merkezile mesi Kar s nda Bir Osmanl Ayan : Tavasl zade Osman A a/// A Notable Against Ottoman Centralization in the Period of Tanzimat: Tavaslizade Osman Agha
M. Yaar ERTA?
History Studies : International Journal of History , 2012,
Abstract: Political and economical developments that took place beginning from the late 16thcentury, by changing the Ottoman administrative order in a great scale, gave way to a decentralization process. In this period, the class of notable superseded the governors assigned from the centre. Notables, who acquired the management of vast acres and farms through the system of tax farming and manor, in time had captured province bureaucracy and strengthened their autonomies. However, while the consequences of heavy defeat against Russia in 1774 had necessitated reformation in military field, the cost of these reforms played off central government and local powers. In he beginning of 19thcentury, as reforms which proposed re-centralization tired to push notables out of the system, notables opposed with a rigorous resistance. In this period in which arduous struggles occurred had taken place between Notables and the government, one of the strongest notables who joined authority struggle with the state was Osman Agha of Tavas.

Konuralp Tip Dergisi , 2010,
Abstract: Aim: The aim of this study is the retrospective evaluation of colonoscopy results between 2005 January- 2009 December in General Surgery Department of Düzce University.Materials and Methods: Admitted to our department with lower gastrointestinal symptoms, and colonoscopy is indicated 500 male and 538 female total 1038 patients were performed flexible colonoscopic examinations after bowel cleansing. Results: According to results of colonoscopic findings, 42.9% No pathology, 32.5% Hemorrhoids, 17.6% Anal fissures were detected. Conclusion: As a result of this study, half of patients admitted to our surgical clinic with lower gastrointestinal complaints have no pathology and in the other half of patients have various pathologies such as hemorrhoids and anal fissures.
Amyand Hernia: Case Report
Yaar M et al.
Konuralp Tip Dergisi , 2013,
Abstract: The presence of the appendix vermiformis in inguinal hernia sac is defined as "Amyand hernia". The incidence is 1% and so preoperative diagnosis is difficult. In 1735 it was first described by Claudius Amyand. In time of diagnosis preoperatively the preferred method of treatment is appendectomy from herniotomy. In general, the diagnosis is made during surgery. We present a case of plastrone and incarcerated appendicitis in right recurrent inguinal hernia sac.

Abstract: In this article, it is stressed that modern art education should be approached by determining planned, programmed, logical, and completely scientific methods. The functions and the status of art education is also examined in details in this essay. It is emphasized that education has a significant influence on individual behavioral variations and on society with its all components for forming national agreement, mutual support, sympathy, cooperation and unity. Art education’s responsibility of creating modern, dynamic, complete, rationalistic and new ideas in addition to its contemporary existence as an education of pleasure and impression is also stressed.
Economic Analysis of Biodiesel and Glycerol Carbonate Production Plant by Glycerolysis  [PDF]
Nghi Nguyen, Yaar Demirel
Journal of Sustainable Bioenergy Systems (JSBS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jsbs.2013.33029
Abstract: Techno-economic analysis of an indirect use of carbon dioxide within the route of glycerolysis of glycerol with urea is investigated. The results show that the net present value of the biodiesel-glycerol carbonate production by glycerolysis is higher than the biodiesel-glycerol carbonate production by direct carboxylationat at the end of the 12-year operation with similar capacities. The stochastic model has predicted that using glycerolysis route for the synthesis of glycerol carbonate production might increase the probability of getting positive net present value by about 15%.

Abstract: Underage marriages are going on to keep their commonness in countries such as Turkey although frequencies of them are decreasing in the world. According to the law, marriages before eighteen years old are also defined as early marriages. Being married of girls at early ages makes these children deprived from education life and their vicinity. Therefore severe psychological difficulties occur in these children. In this study, 19 girls, who were being married at early ages and psychologically examined between January 1st, 2013-April 1st, 2015 in physical and mental health committee of the Dicle University, Medical Faculty, were taken to evaluate. These 19 cases were retrospectively assessed in sociodemographic data (age, education level, and relative degrees), type of marriage, state of mind, forensic reports and files. Of 410 cases, who admitted to our mental and physical committee, 19 (4.6%) were at the category of early age marriage. These 19 cases range between 13 and 17 years of age. Three of them (15.8%) were thinking of suicide and one of them (5.3%) attempted suicide. At least, one mental disorder was diagnosed in 8 (42.1%) of the cases and the most common diagnose was acute stress disorder in four (21.1%) cases. It has been stated that marriages at early ages are caused by economic and cultural reasons. As conclusion, being married of children at early ages is an important risk factor in social and mental health.
