Long periodicity of Blazar with RXTE ASM, TA and HEGRA

Abstract: Long periodicity for Mkn501 during a large flare in 1997 have been reported by TA, HEGRA group. Here, we establish this periodicity with archival data of RXTE All Sky Monitor(ASM), Telescope Array(TA) and HEGRA with a chance probability less than $10^{-5}$. We also find that an origin of 23 day periodicity is related with a change of either a gamma factor of electrons $\gamma$ or the magnetic field or a beaming factor. And, in order to search for a category which have a long periodicity, we make a periodicity analysis for ten H.B.L. with RXTE ASM. We find a long periodicity for three TeV detected source, Mkn501, Mkn421 and PKS2155-304. There may exist a relation between an origin of a long periodicity and an electron acceleration to a TeV range.
mbs: modifying Hudson's ms software to generate samples of DNA sequences with a biallelic site under selection

Abstract: However, it has been difficult to incorporate natural selection into the coalescent framework.We herein present a software application to generate samples of DNA sequences when there is a biallelic site targeted by selection. This software application, referred to as mbs, is developed by modifying Hudson's ms. The mbs software is so flexible that it can incorporate any arbitrary histories of population size changes and any mode of selection as long as selection is operating on a biallelic site.mbs provides opportunities to investigate the effect of any mode of selection on the pattern of SNPs under various demography.The coalescent provides a very efficient simulation tool for generating DNA samples drawn from populations [1,2]. Hudson's software, ms, is widely used in population genetics largely because of its flexibility [2]. ms can generate patterns of DNA polymorphism under the infinite-site model with a complicated demographic history, given that all mutations are neutral. ms is frequently used for estimating demographic and mutational parameters (including point mutation and recombination rates) and for testing for natural selection.However, provided that a number of genes in a genome are subject to selection, understanding how selection affects the pattern of DNA polymorphism is very important in population genetics (e.g., [3]). Incorporating selection into the coalescent has been a challenging problem, and one approach has been to consider a biallelic-structure with the original and derived allelic classes [4]. The frequencies of the two allelic classes can change over time, and once their historical trajectory is given, the coalescent algorithm can trace the ancestral lineages of sampled chromosomes backward in time conditional on the trajectory. Laser Acceleration toward PeV Feeling the Texture of Vacuum

Abstract: Identified is a set of ballpark parameters for laser, plasma, and accelerator technologies that are defined for accelerated electron energies reaching as high as PeV. These parameters are carved out from the scaling laws that govern the physics of laser acceleration, theoretically suggested and experimentally explored over a wide range in the recent years. We extrapolate this knowledge toward PeV energies. In the density regime on the order of 10^16 cm^-3, it is possible to consider the application of the existing NIF (or LMJ) or its extended lasers to their appropriate retrofitting for this purpose. Although the ambition of luminosity is not pursued, such energies by themselves may allow us to begin to feel and study the physics of the 'texture of vacuum'. This is an example of fundamental physics exploration without the need of luminosity paradigm. By converting accelerated electrons with extreme energies to like energy gamma photons, and let them propagate through vacuum over a sufficient distance, these extremely high energy (and therefore short wavelength) photons experience smallest vacuum structures and fluctuations. If we can measure the arrival time differential and thus the gamma photon speed as a function of different energies such as 0.1 PeV vs 1 PeV, say within attoseconds accuracy, we can collect valuable data if and how gamma photons still obeys the premise of relativity or the vacuum texture begins to alter such fundamentals. The only method currently available to look at this problem may be to study astrophysical data of the primordial gamma ray bursts (GRBs), which are compared with the presently suggested approach.

Abstract: Under the World Trade Organization’s ruling and taking up the agenda set when of the GATT’s Uruguay Round negotiations, new perspectives have been presented due to the global economic imbalance in the 80s. The concern about carring out legal adjustments has broadened the discussion over matters such as the trade of services and the intellectual property. The latter gave rise to a new order with very particular characteristics of the International Law, with a hybrid nature and as such, should be protected. The present study, initially, deals with the applicable national and international concepts and laws following a few considerations on the intellectual property, in special, within MERCOSUL. Sob os auspícios da Organiza o Mundial do Comércio e, retomando os compromissos assumidos quando das negocia es da Rodada Uruguai do GATT, novas perspectivas se apresentaram em raz o do desequilíbrio econ mico global, na década de 80. Long periodicity of Blasers with RXTE ASM

Abstract: We have searched for long periodicity in ten X-ray selected Blasers with RXTE ASM 4.6 years data. We found about 10-100 day possible periodicities for three TeV gamma ray Blasers, Mkn 421, Mkn 501 and PKS 2155-304.
Status of the Cherenkov Telescope Array's Large Size Telescopes

Abstract: The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) observatory, will be deployed over two sites in the two hemispheres. Both sites will be equipped with four Large Size Telescopes (LSTs), which are crucial to achieve the science goals of CTA in the 20-200 GeV energy range. Each LST is equipped with a primary tessellated mirror dish of 23 m diameter, supported by a structure made mainly of carbon fibre reinforced plastic tubes and aluminum joints. This solution guarantees light weight (around 100 tons), essential for fast repositioning to any position in the sky in <20 seconds. The camera is composed of 1855 PMTs and embeds the control, readout and trigger electronics. The detailed design is now complete and production of the first LST, which will serve as a prototype for the remaining seven, is well underway. In 2016 the first LST will be installed at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on the Canary island of La Palma (Spain). In this talk we will outline the technical solutions adopted to fulfill the design requirements, present results of element prototyping and describe the installation and operation plans.
Monte Carlo Study on the Large Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes for >10 GeV gamma ray astronomy

Abstract: The Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs), like, HESS, MAGIC and VERITAS well demonstrated their performances by showing many exciting results at very high energy gamma ray domain, mainly between 100 GeV and 10 TeV. It is important to investigate how much we can improve the sensitivity in this energy range, but it is also important to expand the energy coverage and sensitivity towards new domains, the lower and higher energies, by extending this IACT techniques. For this purpose, we have carried out the optimization of the array of large IACTs assuming with new technologies, advanced photodetectors, and Ultra Fast readout system by Monte Carlo simulation, especially to obtain the best sensitivity in the energy range between 10 GeV and 100 GeV. We will report the performance of the array of Large IACTs with advanced technologies and its limitation.
Cluster Analysis of Extremely High Energy Cosmic Rays in the Northern Sky

Abstract: The arrival directions of extremely high energy cosmic rays (EHECR) above $4\times10^{19}$ eV, observed by four surface array experiments in the northern hemisphere,are examined for coincidences from similar directions in the sky. The total number of cosmic rays is 92.A significant number of double coincidences (doublet) and triple coincidences (triplet) are observed on the supergalactic plane within the experimental angular resolution. The chance probability of such multiplets from a uniform distribution is less than 1 % if we consider a restricted region within $\pm 10^{\circ}$ of the supergalactic plane. Though there is still a possibility of chance coincidence, the present results on small angle clustering along the supergalactic plane may be important in interpreting EHECR enigma. An independent set of data is required to check our claims.

Abstract: The chemical composition, apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) and metabolizable energy (ME) of 16 adult dog foods of different commercial categories were determined. The products were classified as superpremium (n=5), premium (n=6) and economic (n-5). The ADC was estimated using the chromic oxide method, in a randomly assigned experiment. The superpremium foods presented higher nutricional densities: the protein content was 9 and 5 point percent higher than economical and premium foods, respectively, while fat content was 7 and 4.5 point percent higher. Economic foods presented low protein and high crude fiber and ash. There were products with higher crude fiber and ash than that declared by the manufacturers. Then mean ADC of superpremium, premium and economic products were, respectively, 81.5, 74.7 and 59.25% for dry matter, 83.2, 76.9 and 66.2% for crude protein, and 85.6, 81.5 and 65.8% for crude energy. These results were significantly different (P<0,05), which indicates a high digestibility for superpremium products and very low digestibility for economic ones. Variations among foods were important in the premium and economic categories, since products with different quality were found in a given commercial category. Because of its chemical composition and digestibility, the economic diets presented low ME (2.7kcal/g). Possibly, the selection of ingredients and industrial processing were responsible for the large difference in quality among products. Digestibility has proved to be an important tool when used in association with chemical composition in the production, evaluation and classification of foods for dogs and cats. Os produtos foram divididos em super-premium (n=5), premium (n=6) e econ micos (n=5). Os CDA foram estimados pelo óxido cr mico, em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Os alimentos super-premium apresentaram maior densidade nutricional, com teor protéico 9 e 5 pontos percentuais e de gordura 7 e 4,5 pontos percentuais superior ao dos econ mico e premium, respectivamente. As ra es econ micas apresentaram baixos teores de proteína, elevadas fibra bruta e matéria mineral. Foram verificados produtos com inadequa es nos níveis de garantia, destacando-se maiores teores de fibra e matéria mineral do que os declarados. Very high energy gamma rays from Markarian 501

Abstract: During remarkable flaring activity in 1997 Markarian 501 was the brightest source in the sky at TeV energies, outshining the Crab Nebula by a factor of up to 10. Periods of flaring activity each lasting a few days were observed simultaneously by several gamma ray telescopes. Contemporaneous multiwavelength observations in April 1997 show that a substantial fraction of the total AGN power is at TeV energies indicating that high energy processes dominate the energetics of this object. Rapid variability, on time scales of less than a day, and a flat spectrum extending up to at least 10 TeV characterize this object. Results of 1997 observations by 6 telescopes are summarized and some of the implications of these results are discussed.
