New approach for building of unified theory about the Universe and some results
S. Sarg
Physics , 2002,
Abstract: The physical models of a successful unified theory about the Universe must operate in different phase of matter evolution and different fields of physics. The attempts to build such wide range theory as a bunch of theories developed for different fields of physics are not quite successful. The accumulated knowledge from experiments and observations leads to a conclusion that some of the adopted postulates in the modern physics are not absolutely fundamental, as considered so far. A new approach for building of unified model of the Universe suggests resurrection of the principles of causality and logical understanding for any kind of physical phenomena. It is successfully applied in a new theory titled Basic Structures of Matter, which provides fundamentals for a unified theory about the Universe. The new approach leads to different physical models for the elementary particles and the atoms and also to a different concept about the Universe. In the same time the suggested models exhibit the same interaction energies as obtained by the Quantum mechanics and experiments. The analysis of the physical phenomena from a new point of view allows deeper understanding of the relations between the basic physical attributes: mass, energy, space, time, gravitation and inertia.
Transgender Language: What Makes Turkish Male Homosexual Language Distinctive?  [PDF]

Open Journal of Modern Linguistics (OJML) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojml.2016.62012
Abstract: Most gender-based linguistic studies in literature are related to men and women only, whereas the term gender is supposed to refer to transgender people as well. People whose sex and gender do not match (GLAAD, 2010) obviously use language in a different way from men and women in some aspects. This study aims to find out the acoustic and phonological differences of male homosexual language from those of men and women. Some male to female transgender people such as trans-sexuals and cross-dressers speak in a distinctive way, which usually becomes a criterion of judgment for stereotyping (Medhurst, 2002: pp. 314-315) and a matter of ridicule on the part of other people. The distinctiveness of this language use may result from acoustic, anatomical, hormonal, physiological and even philosophical differences (Pepiot, 2012). This study focuses on the acoustic and phonological aspects. To identify these aspects, voice recordings of male homosexuals were manipulated in the phonology laboratory and perception tests were conducted on a control group. The results of the study confirmed that one of the most important acoustic and phonological features that differentiate male homosexual speech from male and female heterosexual speech is pitch range, in other words intonation.

Klimik Journal , 2012,
Abstract: Although brain abscess may occur without evident risk factors, well-known risk factors are diabetes mellitus, head trauma, neurosurgical operations and immunosuppression. We present two cases of brain abscess, the first due to Klebsiella pneumoniae in a patient with diabetes mellitus as a risk factor, and the second due to Pseudomonas sp. in a patient without any known risk factor. Both patients required reoperation for relapses after initial operations performed partially because of the locations of the abscesses.

Abstract: Introduction: In this study, we have evaluated laboratory, clinical characteristics, and results of Henoch Schonlein’s purpura (HSP) patients diagnosed in Uludag University Hospital Pediatric Nephrology outpatient clinic between 1999 and 2009.Material and Methods: The laboratory, clinical characteristics, and results of the patients were derived from hospital records. Results: Of 137 HSP patients, 48 (35%) were girls, 89 (65%) were boys. Non-thrombocytopenic purpura was present in all patients. Joint involvement was seen in 81 (59.1%) patients. Pulmonary involvement was seen in 4 (2.9%) patients. Gastrointestinal system involvement was seen in 99 (72.3%) patients. Thirty patients underwent a kidney biopsy. In 16 (11.7%) patients grade I, in 2 (1.5%) patients grade 2A, in 3 (2.2%) patients grade 2B, in 3 (2.2%) patients grade 3A, in 5 (3.6%) patients grade 3B, and in 1 (0.7%) patient grade 4 renal involvement was present. When we evaluated the patients according to Meadow’s classification, microscopic hematuria was the most commonly seen finding in 55 (%40.1) patients. Acute nephritic syndrome was present in 15 (10.9%) patients, nephrotic syndrome in 7 (5.19%) patients, familial Mediterranean fever in four 4 (2.9%) patients and poliarteritis nodosa in one (0.7%) patient. On laboratory findings, leukocyte >10000/ml was seen in 60 (43.8%) patients. Seventy two (52.6%) patients were followed without treatment. Other patients were treated with steroids, NSAID and immunosuppressive therapy according to the severity of diseases. In 16 (11.7%) patients recurrence was seen. Conclusion: HSP is a disease that can spontaneously resolve, but sometimes can be present with complications leading to death. Some patients show atypical manifestations. While acutely diagnosed patients should be inspected for complications, the patients should be closely monitored for recurrences and renal involvement after acute period. 6-aminouracil 1 was utilized to introduce different heterocyclic rings at C-6 position through various synthetic strategies. The synthesized compounds bear rings that are either directly attached to the uracil back bone as in compounds 6, 12a-c and 15, or attached through an amino bridge as compounds 3a-c, 5a, b, 7a, b, 9 and 10, or through an imino bridge as compound 18. Also, compounds 4, 8, 11a-c, 14, 16 and 17 bearing biologically active side chains were synthesized. In addition to, compounds 13, 19, 20, 21 and 22 bear fused rings to the uracil backbone. All synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anticancer activity against prostate PC3 cell line using in-vitro sulforhodamine-B (SRB) method, from which compounds 3a, c, 4, 5a, b, 6, 7a, b, 11a-c, 12a, b, 17 and 20 were the most active. These active compounds were further evaluated for their ability to inhibit cathepsin B enzyme by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, which revealed that compounds 5a, b, 7a, 11a, 12a and 17 exhibited more than 50% inhibition of cathepsin B. Among which the phenyl thiourea derivative 17 was the most active exhibiting 82.3% inhibition, while the reference doxorubicin exerted 18.7% inhibition.
