The Effects of Early Castration on Slaughter and Carcass Characteristics of Norduz Male Kids
M. Resul Ciftci,Askin Kor
Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances , 2012, DOI: 10.3923/javaa.2010.2382.2385
Abstract: This study examined the effects of early castration on slaughter and carcass characteristics of Norduz goat male kids. Animal material consisted of 25 male kids divided into two groups-an early castrated group (n = 13) and a control group (n = 12). All animals were weaned at 3 months and then subjected to an 85 days fattening period. Kids were fed with a ration of concentrate (16.6% crude protein and 10.6 MJ kg-1 DM ME) ad libitum +200 g sainfoin per kid twice daily. At the end of the fattening period, eight kids from each group were slaughtered to determine carcass characteristics. Significant differences (p<0.01) were found in the slaughter weights of castrated (24.84±0.465 kg) and intact (30.41±1.061 kg) kids. Cold carcass weights of castrated (9.40±0.230 kg) and intact (11.53±0.544 kg) kids also varied significantly (p<0.05). Muscle, bone, subcutaneous fat and intermuscular fat percentages in the chop region for intact and castrated groups were, respectively, 43.15±0.822 and 41.48±0.579%; 24.60±1.026 and 26.84±0.750%; 7.66±0.711 and 10.21±0.615%; 7.48±0.506 and 7.25±0.693%. It was concluded that early castration had no significant on the carcass characteristics of Norduz male kids.
Schwarzschild-De Sitter black holes in 4+1 dimensional bulk

Physics , 2005, DOI: 10.1142/S0217732307021172
Abstract: We construct a static solution for 4+1 dimensional bulk such that the 3+1 dimensional world has a linear warp factor and describes the Schwarzschild-dS_{4} black hole. For m=0 this four dimensional universe and Friedmann Robertson Walker universe are related with an explicit coordinate transformation. We emphasize that for linear warp factors the effect of bulk on the brane world shows up as the dS_{4} background which is favored by the big bang cosmology.
Brane World Cosmology In Jordan-Brans-Dicke Theory

Physics , 2005, DOI: 10.1007/s10714-005-0201-1
Abstract: We consider the embedding of 3+1 dimensional cosmology in 4+1 dimensional Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory. We show that exponentially growing and power law scale factors are implied. Whereas the 4+1 dimensional scalar field is approximately constant for each, the effective 3+1 dimensional scalar field is constant for exponentially growing scale factor and time dependent for power law scale factor.

Abstract: One example of the traditional Turkish biographywritings written in 20th century is Mehmed Nail Tuman’swork called Tuhfe-i Naili. In this paper after introducingthe work called Tuhfe-i Naili briefly we will focus on andmake a systematic analyses how Mehmed Nail Tumanpresents the very significant points of one’s life in orderto introduce poets in a biographical sense.
Effects of Microbial Phytase Supplementation on Feed Consumption and Egg Production of Laying Hens

International Journal of Poultry Science , 2005,
Abstract: In this study, the effects of microbial phytase supplementation in diets were investigated on feed intake, egg production and feed efficiency in laying hens. The experiment was carried out between the July 15th to October 15th. 120 Nick Chick White hens at 210 days of age were divided into four groups of 40 each. Each cage contained 5 hens. Treatment groups were fed the basal diet (Control Group) or the basal diet supplemented with 300 U/kg of microbial phytase (Group A) and 600 U/kg of microbial phytase (Group B). Birds in each group were fed a balanced diet ad libitum. Daily feed intake, feed efficiency, egg production and egg weight differed between treatment groups (P< 0.01). However initial and final body weights were similar in all groups. It can be concluded that supplementation of microbial phytase to diets improved hen productivity.

Abstract: We discuss alternative iteration methods for differential equations. We provide a convergence proof for exactly solvable examples and show more convenient formulas for nontrivial problems.

Abstract: What is the attitude towards a literal work is a controversial issue. At the centre of the controversy there are some basic concerns like what is a literal work, the characteristics of suje towards this work and how all these are affected by the process etc. On the other hand the depths and continuity of the relations between the pleasures emerged from the art work and the concept of beauty is another topic of discussion. In this work in order to see whether the process is the factor that manages the whole activity the position of suje during the process towards a literal work is going to be touched upon then how the beauty affects this attitude is emphasized Edeb bir eser kar s nda tavr n ne oldu u tart mal bir konudur. üniversite rencilerinin Mobil Reklamc l a Kar Tutumlar = Undergraduates’ Attitudes Toward Mobile Advertising
Resul USTA
Dogus University Journal , 2009,
Abstract: The rapid proliferation of mobile devices such as cellular phones has created a new communication channel for marketing. Currently, cellular phones are mostly used for Short Messaging Service (SMS) advertising. The aim of this study is to explore the factors that underline undergraduates’ attitudes toward SMS advertising. The results obtained indicated factors such as entertainment, informativeness, irritation, reliability, general attitude and permission and incentive-based advertising. The undergraduates do not perceive SMS advertisements to be entertaining, informative and reliable. Moreover, they find SMS advertisements annoying. It was also found that the students as consumers generally have negative attitudes toward SMS advertisements. However, they have positive attitudes toward permission or incentive based SMS advertising. Thus, sending SMS advertisements to potential customers without prior permission or incentive doesn’t seem to be a good marketing strategy.
Tüketicilerin nternet Bankacili ini Kullanmama Nedenleri üzerine Bir Ara tirma = A Study on the Reasons of Why the Internet Banking is not Used Widely by Consumers
Resul USTA
Dogus University Journal , 2005,
Abstract: Although the majority of the banks in Turkey offers their products completely or almost free via Internet to consumers, it is a fact that the use of IB is still very low. The data shows that only 20-30 % of the adults using the Internet benefit from IB. This paper aims to explore the reasons why Internet using consumers do not use Internet banking (IB). According to the results obtained from our questionnaire study the most important reason for not using IB is the consumers' "security concerns" about conducting their banking transactions in cyberspace. Chi-square and correlation tests show that the degree of impotance given by the consumers' to the security concerns has nothing to do with demographic variables (except for gender) and Internet using habits (except for the place where the users enter Internet). Banks aiming at having an advantage over their rivals in competition by decreasing the transaction costs, need to take the security, the use , the benefits and the transaction costs of the IB into account when formulating their marketing programs to increase the awareness of consumers.
Bilateral pterygium in the two siblings

Eye Reports , 2011, DOI: 10.4081/eye.2011.e1
Abstract: Pterygia are fibrovascular connective tissue overgrowths of bulbar conjunctiva onto the cornea. There is a worldwide distribution of pterygium, but it occurs more commonly in warm, dry climates. Patients younger than the age of 15 rarely acquire a pterygium. We report a case of bilateral nasal pterygium in two siblings. A 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl who are siblings presented with bilateral nasal pterygium. While pterygium is a common disorder, its bilaterality in young people is not a common condition. This report is the first known report in the peer-reviewed medical literature of patients with bilateral nasal pterygium in siblings younger than the age of 15.
