Abstract: An attempt was made to isolate the wood rot fungi from the different host plants at maruthamalai hill forest area. This is a located in Western Ghats of southern India. There are 30 wood rot fungal samples were observed. This is first report of kind from maruthamalai hill forest among the white rot fungi. These fungi might have played very important role in sustaining in forest ecosystem in maruthamalai hill forest of Western Ghats, South India. From the above isolated thirty wood rot fungi samples were identified, and screening the best wood rot fungi for further studies.
BIOLOGICAL SYNTHESIS OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES USING OCIMUM BASILLICUM LEAF EXTRACT AND THEIR ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY

Abstract: The aim of present investigation was to synthesis the nanoparticles by using the medicinal plant Ocimum basillicum. Biologically synthesized nanoparticles have been widely used in the field of therapeutic medicine. The silver nanoparticles were synthesized by using 1mM aqueous of silver nitrate with leaf extract of Ocimum basillicum. The growth of nanoparticles is monitored by visualizing color changes and it was confirmed by the techniques, UV-vis spectrophotometer and characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X- ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The result of varies techniques confirmed the presence of silver nanoparicles and showed the average particle size between 58-89nm. Further the synthesized nanoparticles are evaluated for its antimicrobial activity against on selected bacterial species.

Abstract: Transcription, post-transcriptional modification, translation, post-translational modification, DNA replication, and signaling interaction of intra- and extra- cellular components are the relevant mechanisms in gene regulation. Transcription is one of the most important mechanisms in the control of gene expression. Further, post-transcriptional modifications play a crucial role after transcription which determine whether the transcribed gene is coding or non-coding RNA (ncRNAs). Genome-wide analysis of RNAs provides information about the coding RNAs, whereas the status of ncRNAs are still at large and must be discussed in detail as variations in the ncRNAs can lead to different phenotypes. In this short article, we discuss the role of genetic variation in ncRNA genes and how this variation may play a crucial role in ncRNA biogenesis that eventually leads to phenotypic variation and thus speciation.
In-situ preparation of hydroxyapatite nanorod embedded poly (vinyl alcohol) composite and its characterization

Abstract: Hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanorod embedded composite was prepared using poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as a matrix with different weight percentages (wt. %) The role of PVA composition on the crystallite size, degree of crystallinity, functional groups and morphology of nanocomposites were characterised by XRD, FTIR, and TEM analysis. The results indicated that the size and crystallinity of HAp nano particles decreases with increase in PVA concentration in the composite. This shows the size control effect of PVA concentration on HAp nanorods. Due to the chemical bond interactions between HAp and PVA, a new peak at 2944 cm-1 was observed from FTIR analysis. TEM micrograph confirms the presence of HAp nanorod crystals in PVA matrix. From microhardness test, a notable increase in hardness of the composite for 1.25 and 2.5 wt. % of PVA concentration when compared to pure HAp. The bioresorbability was explored through in vitro study.
CDK4 IVS4-nt40 AA genotype and obesity-associated tumors/cancer in Italians – a case-control study

Abstract: We recruited 263 unrelated Italian subjects: 106 subjects had at least one benign tumor and 46 subjects had at least one malignant tumor, while 116 subjects had at least two tumors and/or cancers. We collected BMI data for 90% of them: 186 subjects had a BMI≥30 Kg/m2 and 52 subjects had a BMI ≥ 30 Kg/m2. We performed statistical power calculations in our datasets. DNA samples were directly sequenced with specific primers for the CDK4 IVS4-nt40 G→A variant. Genotype association tests with disease were performed.In our study, no significant association of the CDK4 IVS4-nt40 AA genotype with cancer and/or tumors/cancer are/is detected. However, the CDK4 IVS4-nt40 AA genotype is significantly associated with cancer and tumors/cancer in obese patients.This finding is interesting since obesity is a risk factor for tumors and cancer. This study should prompt further work aiming at establishing the role of CDK4 in contributing to tumor/cancer genetic risk predisposition, as well as its role as a potentially effective therapeutic target gene for obesity-associated tumor/cancer management.Cell cycle checkpoint functions regulate cell cycle progression and proliferation. Defects of cell cycle control are one among hallmarks of tumor development and may have relevance in tumor predisposition [1]. Cyclin-dependant kinase 4 (CDK4) is an important gene for cell cycle regulation, as it determines the number of cells entering the G1 phase cell cycle [2]. It is located on chromosome 12q14 and the protein encoded within this gene is a member of Ser/Thr protein kinase family. CDK4 has mitogenic [2] through phosphorylation of target proteins [4]. Abstract: An exact solution to the flow of a viscous incompressible unsteady flow past an infinite vertical oscillating plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion is presented here, taking into account of the homogeneous chemical reaction of first-order. Both the plate temperature and the concentration level near the plate are raised linearly with respect to time. The dimensionless governing equations has been obtained by the Laplace transform method, when the plate is oscillating harmonically in its own plane. The effects of velocity and concentration are studied for different parameters like phase angle, chemical reaction parameter, thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, Schmidt number and time are studied. The solutions are valid only for small values of time t. It is observed that the velocity increases with decreasing phase angle ωt or chemical reaction parameter. .

Abstract: During routine dissection of 73-year-old adult male cadaver, multiple variations were found in the right kidney. The right kidney was located at the level between fourth lumbar vertebra and second sacral vertebra. There was a superior polar artery, and the right renal artery emerged from the left side of the abdominal aorta at the level of fourth lumbar vertebra. There were two renal veins. The vein from superior pole of the kidney drained into the inferior vena cava. The renal vein from the hilum of the right kidney had a long course along the left side of the abdominal aorta and joined with the left suprarenal vein behind the left renal vein and drained into the left renal vein. Knowledge regarding the variations in renal vessels is very important for urologists and interventional radiologists.
High-temperature resistivity and thermoelectric properties of coupled substituted Ca3Co2O6

Abstract: Polycrystalline samples of Ca3 xNaxCo2 xMnxO6 (x=0.0–0.5) have been prepared by the sol-gel cum combustion method using sucrose in order to investigate the effects of the coupled substitution of Na and Mn on Ca and Co sites on the transport properties of Ca3Co2O6(Co326). The products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, powder x-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry (TGA), differential thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy. XRD patterns reveal the formation of single-phase products up to x=0.5. Coupled substitution increases the solubility of both Na and Mn on Ca and Co sites, respectively, in contrast to the limited solubility of Na and Mn (x=0.2) when separately substituted. TGA confirms the formation of the Ca3Co2O6 phase at temperatures ~720 °C. The grain size of the parent and substituted products is in the range 150–250 nm. Electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient were measured in the temperature range 300–800 K. Resistivity shows semiconducting behavior for all the compositions, particularly in the low-temperature regime. The Seebeck coefficient increases with temperature throughout the measured temperature range for all compositions. The maximum Seebeck coefficient (200 μV K 1) is observed for x=0.5 at 825 K, and this composition may be optimal for high-temperature thermoelectric applications.
Experimental Analysis of Non-Tracking Solar Parabolic Dish Concentrating System for Steam Generation

Abstract: This report presents experimental platform based on the design, development and performance characteristics of direct steam generation by non-tracking solar paraboloidal dish concentrating system. The performance of the concentrator is experimentally investigated with the water circulated as heat transfer fluid. The system is fabricated with highly reflective aluminium foil sheet. The experimental setup is placed in open, and the tests were carried out. The collector’s efficiency was noted. The results are encouraging to provide the data for developing steam generation for rural application. The concentrated heat is absorbed by a copper tube which is made up of coil in a curved shape and it is fixed on solar trace path in which, it is eliminates tracking the sun in the east west direction and optimal tracking of the sun in the north-south to obtain maximum solar energy. The experimental results are taken on summer and cloud free days. The test results were measured 215oC with solar steam conversion efficiency is 60-70% measured
