Morphological Studies on the Epididymal Duct of the One-Humped Camel (Camelus Dromedaries)  [PDF]

Abstract: The present work was carried out on 20 epididymes of sexually mature one humped camel to elucidate the gross anatomical, scanning electron microscopical and light microscopical features of the epididymal duct. Anatomically, the epididymal duct of camel consists of three parts i.e. head, body and tail. Histomorphologically, the epididymal duct is subdivided into initial, middle and terminal segments, of which the middle segment is further subdivided into proximal, intermediate and distal parts. The epithelium lining the epididymal duct is ciliated pseudostratified columnar comprising mainly five cell types, namely principal, basal, apical, dark and halo cells. It displays numerous intraepithelial glands in the middle segment. In general, there is a gradual increase in the total diameter and decrease in the epithelial height of the epididymal duct from the initial to the terminal segments; that may, mechanically, facilities passage of the sperms toward the terminal segment. The lamina propria of the epididymal duct contains a layer of interlacing elastic fibers which may allow adequate elasticity of the duct that could help in its expansion. Moreover it is surrounded by numerous layers of circularly and obliquely arranged smooth muscle fibers which always increase in thickness toward the terminal segment.

Abstract: This paper is devoted to asymptotic formulas for functions related with the spectrum of the standard Laplace operator in two and three dimensional bounded doubly connected domains with impedance boundary conditions, where the impedances are assumed to be positive functions. Moreover, asymptotic expressions for the difference of eigenvalues related to impedance boundary value problems with different impedances are derived. Further results may be obtained.

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Magnesium, calcium carbonates and oxides that are widely used in cement industries were employed in studying sorption of petroleum oil spills from salt water at different condition parameters such as temperature, loading weight, degree of salinity. Treatment of magnesium, calcium carbonates and oxides by dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid alcohol was studied to enhance the sorption efficiency. Results obtained showed that treated MgCO3, CaCO3, MgO and CaO with dodecyl benzene sulphonic can sorb oil by 0.95, 1.25, 78, 0.56 times its weight respectively; untreated materials can sorb oil by 0.49, 0.76, 0.44, 0.32 its weight. Characteristics of crude oil and the used materials were investigated by FTIR, X Ray Fluorescence, Inductive Coupled Plasma, Pour Point and Thermostatic Water Bath instruments. Determination of the amount of crude oil in water was done by extracting the crude oil in tricholorotrifluoroethane and measuring absorbance by FTIR spectrometer. @JASEM

Abstract: A 57-year-old with a 9-year history of increased abdominal girth, presented with increased abdominal pain, anemia, and acute renal failure. His past medical history was only remarkable for a previous lung cancer 21 years ago that was treated with a right upper lung lobectomy. A computed tomography (CT) scan of the patient’s abdomen showed a solitary 20 x 20 x 25 cm cystic splenic mass. The patient underwent an urgent splenectomy. Intraoperatively a large splenic cystic cavity was found with a solid inferior splenic mass. An exhaustive histological analysis of the splenic mass confirmed a clear cell carcinoma with low malignant potential that likely represented a metastatic lesion from the patient’s previous distant lung cancer. Postoperatively the patient recovered well and at 1-year followup the patient demonstrated no further evidence of metastatic disease. This case is extremely unique and provides a very rare example of a metastatic solitary clear cell carcinoma to the spleen, with a presumed latency period of more than 20 years.
A Content Based Image Retrieval Approach Based On Principal Regions Detection

Abstract: This paper proposes a new region-based image retrieval technique called Principal Regions Image Retrieval (PRIR). This technique starts by segmenting an image to the most general principal regions and applies a fuzzy feature histogram to describe the color and texture properties of each segmented region. The proposed approach starts by generating a nearest neighbor graph for the segmented regions, and applying a greedy graph matching algorithm with a modified scoring function to determine the image rank. The proposed segmentation approach provides significant speedup toward state of the art techniques while keeping accurate precision. Moreover, the proposed approach combines local and global description to improve the retrieval results. Standard image databases are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. Results show that the proposed approach enhances the accuracy of retrieval compared to other approaches reported in the literature.
