Abstract: This study investigated the use of a product based on yacon (PBY) in microbiological, physical-chemical and intestinal characteristics of Wistar rats artificially constipated with Loperamide®. Thirty-two rats were divided into four groups: Control (C), Constipated Control (CC), PBY (not constipated) and Constipated PBY (PBYC). The dosage of 0.14 g of FOS+ inulin/kg was tested. Microbiota, pH and faeces characteristics of faeces and caecal contents were evaluated. Caecal weight, morphometry of caecal villi and the concentration of short-chain fatty acids were determined. Higher caecal weight was identified in the PBYC animals as well as higher width, height and depth of cripts. The PBY group showed the highest (p < 0.05) concentration of butyrate (93.2 ± 65.5 mmol/L). The supplementation with PBY positively altered the intestine epithelial tissue in constipated animals, keeping the integrity of the caecum crypts.

This paper results from a case study and aims to understand how there has been dialogue between the public school and hip hop movement, considering the challenges to building meaningful educational practices for youth. We treat the character education movement from the dimensions of the construction of citizenship, political culture, the configuration of sociopolitical and economic scenario, of subjectivity and political organization. For this we follow a crew activities developed in the movement located in an outlying neighborhood of the city and educational practice that movement in the school limited the Open School Program. Visualize the experience of hip hop movement in the program a learning opportunity for the school in order to contextualize their knowledge in order to gain greater compliance of the school community, especially young people. Accordingly, we find two types of ownership of the educational practices of the movement for school: teach

Abstract: Around 20,000 snakebites are reported annually in Brazil and 90% of them are inflicted by species of the genus Bothrops. Intravenous administration of antibothropic antivenom neutralizes the systemic actions, but it is of little effect on the reversal of local symptoms and often induces adverse reactions, a context that drives the search for complementary treatments for snakebite accidents. Vegetable extracts with a range of antiophidian activities constitute an excellent alternative. In this study, we investigated the anti-hemorrhagic effects of Mouriri pusa Gardn. (Melastomataceae), Byrsonima crassa Niedenzu (Malpighiaceae), Davilla elliptica St. Hill. (Dilleniaceae) and Strychnos pseudoquina St. Hil. (Loganiaceae) against Bothrops jararaca venom. The methanolic extracts from M. pusa (leaves), B. crassa (leaves) and D. elliptica (leaves) showed total neutralization capacity against local hemorrhages. The amenthoflavone and quercetin fractions from B. crassa and the flavonoids fractions (quercetin and myricetin) from M. pusa and D. elliptica also showed total neutralization capacity. We conclude that flavonoids derived from myricetin, quercetin and amenthoflavone play an important role in the anti-hemorrhagic potential of these Brazilian vegetables species against B. jararaca venom.

Abstract: the deleterious effects of both mn deficiency and excess on the development of plants have been evaluated with regard to aspects of shoot anatomy, ultrastructure and biochemistry, focusing mainly on the manifestation of visual symptoms. however, there is little information in the literature on changes in the root system in response to mn supply. the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of mn doses (0.5, 2.0 and 200.0 μmol l-1) in a nutrient solution on the anatomy of leaves and roots of the glycine max (l.) cultivars santa rosa, iac-15 and iac-foscarin 31. visual deficiency symptoms were first observed in santa rosa and iac-15, which were also the only cultivars where mn-toxicity symptoms were observed. only in iac-15, a high mn supply led to root diameter thickening, but without alteration in cells of the bark, epidermis, exodermis and endodermis. the degree of disorganization of the xylem vessels, in particular the metaxylem, differed in the cultivars. quantity and shape of the palisade parenchyma cells were influenced by both mn deficiency and toxicity. a reduction in the number of chloroplasts was observed in the three mn-deficient genotypes. the anatomical alterations in iac-15 due to nutritional stress were greater, as expressed in extensive root cell cytoplasm disorganization and increased vacuolation at high mn doses. the degree of changes in the anatomical and ultrastructural organization of roots and leaves of the soybean genotypes studied differed, suggesting the existence of tolerance mechanisms to different intensities of mn deficiency or excess.
