Análisis de un protocolo de formulación de caso clínico desde las categorías de bienestar psicológico

Universitas Psychologica , 2008,
Abstract: we describe the validation process of a case formulation protocol, based on the theoretical perspective of behavior analysis, in order to contribute to the development of a case formulation model aimed to organize the information coming from evaluation, to reduce clinical judgment bias, and to orient the clinical intervention towards a coherent and consistent way with the analysis categories belonging to the field of psychological wellbeing. validity was defined as a function of the use of a single case design with a time series methodology and the internal validity of the formulations, based on criteria of consistency among the categories and the descriptive and explicative hypotheses, and among these and the intervention plan. the clinical formulation process was finished with six cases, taking the intervention efficacy as the validity criterion. results point to the high level of inference and hypotheses based on clinical judgment rather than on empirical evidences.

Leclercia adecarboxylata is part of the Enterobacteriaceae family occasionally reported as an opportunist microorganism in patients with any kind of immunosuppression as neutropenia, cirrhosis or cancer. We report an outbreak with five cases of Leclercia adecarboxylata bacteremia in patients with several immune conditions, most likely associated to contaminated heparin vials. We also present an updated literature review and discussion regarding the particular characteristics of the outbreak and the microorganism.

Universitas Psychologica , 2006,
Abstract: some results of a larger research aimed to evaluate de quality of life of families with 0 to 2 years old children with genetic malformation are presented. quality of life was analyzed related to the child’s age, other sociodemographic variables, the parent’s information about the malformation and the clinical characteristics of the diagnostic. a descriptive-correlational design was used, with group comparison by age and type of malformation. the eclamc instrument was used for the medical evaluation and a semi-structured interview was designed for the principal caregiver to evaluate the quality of life domains described by rodríguez (1995), and the quality of the information about the malformation and its treatment. the final sample was constituted by 36 families, with 24 girls and 14 boys with diverse genetic malformations. principal results showed no significant differences in the quality of life by the child’s gender or age, neither by the parents’ age. a significant relation was found between the type of malformation and the quality of life in the functional status domain, and between the mother’s occupation and the quality of information about the malformation and its treatment. psychological functioning was the most affected domain. results are discussed in the light of relevant information and the politics in health attention services.

Abstract: The aim of this quasiexperimental research of single case with n replications was to evaluate a psychologicalintervention with emphasis on sexuality and marital communication for women diagnosed withcervical cancer under treatment. Four women patients of the Javeriano Oncology Centre participatedvoluntarily. The instrument was a semi-structured interview validate by experts judgement and wasapplied individually in order to collect relevant and pertinent data according to the objectives. Based onthe information from the interview special patient’s needs were detected which guided the selection ofthe intervention program contents. Intervention was applied and evaluated in different moments, as isrequired to decrease threatens to internal validity (Kazdin 2001). The intervention program consistedof three-session psycho-educational workshop with pre-post-test measures specially designed for eachoccasion. Evaluations were applied immediately after each session, 15 days after, 30 days after the lastsession. Results were presented graphically and in tables and were analysed descriptively without statisticsthrough categories derived from the answers. The intervention effectivity was demonstrated in positivechanges in each participant, especially in general information and beliefs; there were changes respect tosexuality favourable to couple relation, however some deficits in communication and sexual relationpersisted. Practical and theoretical implications were analysed in different moments during the research.
