Farro, Máximo E.;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702008000300007
Abstract: the article explores the relation between the advance of transportation technology and the development of scientific expeditions between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in argentina. expansion of the railway network on a national scale impacted the development of the earth sciences by facilitating access to distant places by scientific institutions located in córdoba, buenos aires, and la plata and also by simplifying the movement of equipment, scientific collections, and personnel. hermann burmeister's expedition (1857-60), expeditions by scientists from the academia nacional de ciencias de córdoba, and archeological digs in the northwestern provinces, organized by scientific institutions headquartered in buenos aires and la plata, serve as examples.

Badaró,Máximo;
Av?? , 2006,
Abstract: in this article i analyze two central dimensions in the military socialization process of cadets at the colegio militar de la nación, the only military academy with initial instruction for officers of the argentine army. these dimensions are: the redefinition of individual identities and the socialization of particular emotions and feelings. the analysis will shed light on the types of identity transformations implied in these dimensions and how certain moral values fit into this process. more than theories or concepts, these values are practices that imply choices and preferences related to the context of institutional socialization and particular social relationships. my analysis will show that the socialization process of the cadets aims not only to transmit specific knowledge related to a particular professional field but, mainly, to shape a social actor able to represent the army as a moral community which is qualitatively different from the rest of the population.

Diago Hernando, Máximo
Hispania Sacra : Revista de Historia Eclesiástica , 2011,
Abstract: The author analyses some aspects of the religiosity and of the policy adopted by the members of the High Nobility in their relationship with the ecclesiastical institutions in the Crown of Castile at the end of the Middle Ages. In order to be able to analyse this subject in greater depth, he chooses the Castilian region that had its capital in the town of Soria. He pays attention to the three noble lineages that exercised greater political influence in this region: the Arellano, counts of Aguilar, the Mendoza, counts of Monteagudo, and the La Cerda, counts and later dukes of Medinaceli.

Abstract: The author analyses the relationship established during the fifteenth and the first half of the sixteenth centuries between one of the most powerful noble families in Castile, the Velasco family, and one of the Benedictine monasteries that exercised a most prominent role as lord of vassals in this kingdom, the monastery of San Salvador de O a. He proves that during this period the members of the Velasco family acted most of the time as encomenderos (protectors) of the monastery, and he gives account of some of the actions they undertook to fulfil this task. He also pays attention to the conflicts that arised between both of them, and finally he gives account of the intervention of members of the Velasco family in the regulation of internal matters of the monastic community.
