Abstract: This study analyzes the characteristics of the Globally Integrated Management Services (GIMS) of a multinational Information Technology and subsidiaries. The study also explores: 1) how the matrix manages resources and deals with the paradox of control and autonomy of the subsidiaries and 2) some differences of the Globally Integrated Management Services (GIMS) the other models of international management: export of services, multinational and transnational. To conduct this research was accompanied GIMS in the deployment of a parent and subsidiary company. The research methodology is qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, conducted through a case study in parent and subsidiary. Data collection was conducted through interviews with 25 executives of American parent and subsidiary in Brazil. The results show that the adoption of GIMS model generates a relatively utilization of the resources, competencies stimulating local and combines power and control mechanisms of action given matrix with autonomy and independence of the subsidiaries.
Posicionamento estrutural e relacional em redes de empresas: uma análise do consórcio modular da indústria automobilística

Abstract: the organizations operate in an environment structured through productive and technological entailment, established between companies and institutions. morphologically, the entire network is composed of nodes (activities or companies), position in the network structure, linking and flows between the actors. starting from both morphological and properties analysis it is possible to understand how privileged positions in the network are reflected in the access to resources, information, norms and legitimacy. this paper analyzes how the structural and relational positioning in the network of auto parts companies affects the levels of knowledge diffusion, control mechanisms and power relations between assembly plant and suppliers. the nature of the research is an exploratory and descriptive study carried out using multi-cases, involving an assembly plant (modular consortium) and two auto parts suppliers (modulists). the primary data collection occurred in loco through in-depth interviews with production directors of the mentioned companies, participant comments and internal document analysis. the conclusions of the research show that dense and cohesive networks have greater possibilities to promote diffusion channels of management and technical knowledge between assembly plants and car spares suppliers in the cases studied. on the other hand, the dense networks generate distinct, highly institutionalized control structures, and redistributes the power to auto parts companies.

Abstract: the evolution of organizational studies comprises different and contrasting approaches. the organizational theory has not yet formed a unified field of concepts and interpretations about what is at risk in organizations. the objective of this paper is to present some of the new approaches to organizational analysis: resource dependence, populational ecology, structural contingency, new institutional economy and new institutionalism. these approaches serve as important theorical references for the evolution and systematization in contemporary organizational studies, providing a deeper understanding on how to analyze organizations.

Abstract: this paper relates two distinct themes: entrepreneurship and ethnicity. they are normally treated by different academic traditions: economists and businessmen deal with the first, while anthropologists, sociologists and historians usually investigate the latter. due to the recent development of areas like organizational culture and economic sociology, approximations between these two themes have occurred, allowing a conjoint treatment of them in the fi eld defined as ethnic entrepreneurship. studies in this new area recognize that many resources and job possibilities for immigrants are available at their own communities, where networks of social capital pervade. more than driving defi nite conclusions, this work explores some insights in this area, taking s?o paulo's historical socio-economic experience as reference.

Abstract: A evolu o dos estudos em teoria das organiza es revela uma trajetória de diversas correntes e contrastes. Ao invés de a teoria organizacional compor um conjunto unificado de conceitos e interpreta es, mostra-se fortemente diversificada e conflituosa entre os vários agentes e suas respectivas formas de "enxergar" a organiza o. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar algumas perspectivas teóricas contemporaneas em análise organizacional: dependência de recursos, ecologia das popula es, contingência estrutural, nova economia institucional e novo institucionalismo. Essas perspectivas representam sinais importantes para o avan o e sistematiza o das análises organizacionais contemporaneas, uma vez que há uma crescente tentativa em construir pontes entre as perspectivas econ micas e sociológicas, estruturais e racionais, e entre teorias institucionais e ecológicas. Busca-se, com esse referencial teórico, apresentar conceitos, níveis de análise, principais variáveis, críticas e principais autores através de um quadro de referência das respectivas perspectivas apontadas para que novas abordagens sejam reconhecidas e analisadas.
Medi??o de desempenho em cadeias de suprimentos: um estudo na indústria automobilística

Abstract: much of the literature on performance measurement in industrial companies is based on an internal perspective, i.e., companies are investigated individually. with the emergence of the supply chain management concept, the demand for a review of knowledge and performance measurement systems has increased considering the supply chain as a whole. thus, the introduction of new productive configurations, such as the industrial condominium, has stimulated the development of new standards of relationship in supply chains introducing new ways to conduct performance management. therefore, the main objective of the present study was to identify the occurrence and to analyze the key characteristics of performance measurement in a representative supply chain of the brazilian automotive industry that has an industrial condominium configuration. this study was exploratory in nature, and the data were collected through interviews conducted with executives involved with this topic in these companies using a semi-structured questionnaire. as main result, the occurrence of a single supply chain performance measurement system was not identified in the supply chain studied. in fact, the automaker internal performance measurement system unfolds upstream and downstream affecting the performance measurement systems of the four suppliers and the car dealer studied. analyzing the performance indicators of these companies, it can be said that the upstream measures are connected to the operational aspects related to quality, production, and delivery performance, while the downstream measures are more strategic and related to marketing. furthermore, it was also found that the supply chain performance measurement tends to be more intense in collaborative relationships.

Abstract: this paper reports on a research carried out at four large manufacturers regarding changes in their organizational structures and the formation of work teams. the structural changes that have been wrought in these organizations are complex and understanding their depth and scope requires much effort and detailed analysis. upon completion, the research revealed that work teams have a been vital factor in the design of the new organizational structure of the 90s, particularly insofar as the issue of production flexibility is concerned. this report also discusses other significant aspects uncovered by the research that significantly affect successful organizational changes, such as organizational culture, layout and the attitude of management.
Características estruturais, relacionais e gerenciais na cadeia de suprimentos de um condomínio industrial na indústria automobilística

Abstract: in the last decades the contribution of the automotive industry has been very representative in terms of innovations in supply chain management, such as those of the modular consortium and industrial condominium models. in this context, this article presents the findings of a research involving distinct configurations in the relationship structure of an automaker and some of its suppliers in an automotive industry supply chain which uses the industrial condominium model. the main objective was to empirically ascertain some of the implications of the supply chain configuration in important elements of its management, such as the types of relationships, logistic processes, product planning, production management, and performance assessment. the findings confirm that the supply chain configuration is a determining factor in how the automaker's relationship with its suppliers is conducted, significantly influencing the managerial elements considered in this analysis.

Abstract: Esse artigo buscou delimitar o Arranjo Produtivo Local do álcool de Piracicaba (Apla) através da aplica o de uma metodologia de identifica o de arranjos produtivos locais e da caracteriza o e defini o da cadeia produtiva sucroalcooleira. A metodologia de identifica o de arranjos produtivos locais adotada compreende a utiliza o do índice de quociente locacional. O estudo se faz relevante, tendo em vista que os APLs têm suscitado interesse por parte de governos e especialistas no Brasil no sentido de melhoralocar as a es de promo o de desenvolvimento local. Porém, ao se promoverem políticas públicas ou estudos para o desenvolvimento de aglomera es de empresas, surge a dificuldade de delimitar essaaglomera o. Nesse sentido, questiona-se: quais atores e setores fazem parte de um APL? Quais os condicionantes a serem levados em conta na identifica o de um APL e na delimita o de sua respectivacadeia produtiva? No sentido de responder a estas quest es, o presente estudo foi estruturado, tomando como objeto de análise um arranjo específico relacionado à cadeia produtiva sucroalcooleira.

Abstract: A governan a nos arranjos produtivos refere-se ao modo de coordena o, comando, interven o e participa o dos atores do arranjo. Devido ao significativo aumento do interesse da política pública em arranjos produtivos locais no Brasil, é oportuno compreender essa varia o e/ou interdependência de governan a de cada arranjo territorial. O presente artigo compara estruturas de governan a em três arranjos produtivos locais (APLs): a) Birigui (cal ados infantis), b) Jaú (cal ados femininos) e c) Piracicaba (APL do álcool). A coleta de dados em organiza es de interesses e em 31 empresas dos três arranjos paulistas foi realizada por entrevistas em profundidade in loco nas empresas. No artigo s o identificadas as influências distintas nas governan as dos arranjos produtivos. Os resultados da pesquisa revelam: 1) a governan a teve interferência positiva na coopera o e no desenvolvimento de empresas; 2) as possibilidades de desenvolvimento dos APLs dependem em grande parte das formas de governan a pública ou privada; 3) as governan as desses arranjos produtivos locais s o heterogêneas, complexas e, em alguns casos, interdependentes com outras distintas; e 4) os atores coordenadores dos arranjos determinam as rela es, recursos e regras, propondo novas ordens institucionais e organizacionais. La gobernanza en los arreglos productivos se refiere al modo de coordinación, comando, intervención y participación de los actores del arreglo. Debido al significativo aumento del interés de la política pública en arreglos productivos locales en Brasil es oportuno comprender esa variación y/o interdependencia de gobernanza de cada arreglo territorial. El presente artículo compara las estructuras de gobernanza en tres arreglos productivos locales (APLs): a) Birigui (calzados infantiles), b) Jaú (calzados femeninos) y c) Piracicaba (APL del alcohol). La recolección de datos en organizaciones de intereses y en 31 empresas de los tres arreglos paulistas fue realizada por entrevistas en profundidad in loco en las empresas. En el artículo se identifican las diferentes influencias en las gobernanzas de los arreglos productivos. Los resultados de la encuesta revelan: 1) la gobernanza tuvo interferencia positiva en la cooperación y el desarrollo de las empresas; 2) las posibilidades de desarrollo de los APLs dependen en gran parte de las formas de gobernanza pública o privada; 3) las gobernanzas de esos arreglos productivos locales son heterogéneas, complejas y, en algunos casos, interdependientes con otras distintas; y 4) los actores coordinadores de los arreglos determinan las rel
