Abstract: Theeffectof phosphorusonthehotductility andthesegregation ofsulfuratgrain boundariesin high purityironcontaining 0 002 % sulfur werequantitativelyinvestigated bytensiletestat973 K, SEMobservation of fracture surface and scanning Auger electron spectroscopy.Theexperimental resultscan besum marized as follows:(1) addition of phosphorustothe iron remarkablysuppressestheintergranular fractureinduced bythesegregation of sulfur at973 Kandincreasesthe hot ductility;(2) phosphorusstrikingly decreasesthesegregation ofsulfur atgrain boundaries, whichisresponsibleforthesuppressionoftheintergranularfrac tureat973 K;(3) theremarkably decreasedsegregation ofsulfur atgrain boundariesbytheaddition of phosphoruscan beexplained bythesitecompetitioneffectandtherepulsiveinter action at grain boundariesbetweensulfuratomsand phosphorusatoms;(4) sulfurstrikinglysegregatestothevoid surfacesformed on grain boundaries, while phosphorushaslittlesegre gationtothevoid surfaces.

Abstract: Theinteraction ofspinodaldecomposition and recrystallization process,andthecharacteristic ofrecrystallizationin Cu Ni Fe alloy aged atdifferenttemperaturesaftersolution treatmentandcold rolling have been studied by structural analysis and Vickers hardnesstest. It has shownthat the recrystallization of spinodal Cu Ni Fe alloy might be divided into 2 types:spinodal decomposition, recovery and recrystallization oftwo phase microstructuretook placein the deformed alloy aged below thespinodaltemperature; whilerecrystallization ofsingle phase microstructureand growth offullyrecrystallized grainstook placeinthedeformed al loy aged abovethespinodaltemperature .The deformed alloyaged below thespinodaltemper aturerecrystallizedin cellular morphology.

Abstract: The valenceofelementyttrium of Y2 O3 Mocathode materialhasbeenstudied by usingther mal weight analysis, X ray diffraction analysis, Scanning electron microscopy and X rayphotoelectronspectrum . It hasbeen provedthatyttrium oxidecan bereduced by molybdenum carbide. Thereaction between powdered Y2 O3 and Mo2 Ccan happen at 1173 , and Y2 O3may bereduced to metallicyttrium . Afterthepowder mixtureof Y2 O3 and Mo2 Cwasheat treated at1873 K, Yttrium existsin two kinds of chemicalstate- yttrium of zero valence and yttrium ofthreevalences.

Abstract: Bainitictransformation processesin austempered ductile iron( ADI) have been discussed at presentstudy. Typicalupper bainitictransformation isconsidered as austenitetransformstobainiticferritediffussionless. When austemperingtimeisextended afterbainitictransforma tion hasceased, carbide will appear in bainitic ferritelaths. During typicallower bainitictransformation ,thefreshlyformed bainiticferriteonlypartitionssomeofitsexcesscarbonin toresidualaustenite, mostofthe restcarbon inthefreshly formed bainiticferriteisprecipi tatedin form ofcarbideatsametime. When austemperingtimeisextended,morecarbideis precipitatedin bainitic ferrite platelets. Carbide also appears atthe austenite/ferriteinter facesbecauseof retained austenite decomposition.

Abstract: The bondstructureofhydrogenated diamond likecarbon( DLC) filmsdeposited with plasmabased ionimplantation ( PBII) wascharacterized by Raman spectroscopy andcore level band and valenceband spectrum of XPS. Theresultsshow thatthe hydrogenated carbon filmspre pared with lower pulse bias, especially zero bias, display polymer like feature. The DLCfilms deposited with 15 kVpulsebiascontainsthehighestdensityofsp3 bonds. Thecore lev elband ( C1s) spectra of allfilmsshifttowardlow bindingenergy after4kVAr ion bom barding. The valenceband spectra of hydrogenated DLCfilmsarequite differentfrom thatof diamond and graphite. However, afterion bombarding, besidetwosingle peaksatabout17 0 eVand 12 5 eV(similarto graphite) ,two new sharp peaksappearatabout21 3 eVand 8 0 eV,respectively. Thepeak at8 0 eVcan beconsidertothecontribution duetothe actingofimplanted argon on C Cbondsand C Hbondsin thefilms.
Molding of Aluminum Foams by Using Hot Powder Extrusion

Abstract: In order to form aluminum foams directly from powder, a combined process of hot powder extrusion and molding is proposed. Aluminum powder mixed with a foaming agent is extruded into the mold through the die heated to a temperature higher than the melting point, and the mold is filled with the aluminum foam. When a stainless steel pipe is used for a simple mold, an aluminum foam bar is obtained of which the relative density varies between 0.2 and 0.3. The molding of aluminum foam by using three types of mold shape shows the influence of gravity and friction. The effect of gravity is significant when a large step exists at the connection between the mold inlet and the die outlet, and friction is dominant in cases where foam is mold in a narrow space.

Pancreatic Carcinoma with Prominent Mucin Production: A Clinicopathologic and Immunohistochemical Study of 9 Cases  [PDF]

Abstract: Pancreatic carcinoma occasionally associated with prominent mucin production and this type of tumor designated as PCM (pancreatic carcinoma with prominent mucin production) was diagnosed depends on subjective estimation of the amount of mucous area, and there has been no report on a quantitative evaluation of the amount of mucinous area in the tumor. To examine the feature of PCM, we analyzed 9 cases of PCM among 243 cases of pancreas carcinoma and evaluated the amount of mucin by imaging analysis. Morphologically, 5 cases were classified as intradactal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN)-derived PCM and 4 cases were as ductal adenocarcinoma (DA)-derived PCM. Mucous composition was found to be more than 50% in all IPMN-derived PCM cases, and that was 40% - 50% in DA-derived PCM cases with one exception. IPMN-derived PCM cases showed expansive growth with pancreatic duct dilatation filled with mucin, while DA-derived PCM cases possessed mucin infiltration into interstitial tissue. Immunohisto-chemically, three of 4 DA-derived PCM cases were MUC1(–)/MUC2(+), and the results of expressions for p16 and Dpc4 suggesting that DA-derived PCM was similar to IPMN-derived PCM rather than ordinary DA. Survival rate of DA-derived PCM cases was lower than that of IPMN-derived PCM cases. We advocate that DA-derived PCM may constitute a borderline group between IPMN and ordinary DA.
