Effects of valsartan and nebivolol on blood pressure, QT dispersion and left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertensive patients

Dicle Medical Journal , 2010,
Abstract: Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze the antihypertensiveeffect of Valsartan and Nebivolol and their effects on QT dispersion and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in the treatment of naive hypertensive patients. Methods: A prospective study with a six-month follow-up was conducted on hypertensive patients with LVH and mild/ moderate essential hypertension. The patients were randomly assigned to Valsartan (80 to 160 mg/day) or Nebivolol (5 to 10 mg/day) groups. The study group consistedof 108 patients, 55 in the Valsartan group and 53 in the Nebivolol group. Results: The range of mean systolic blood pressure (SBP) varied from 152±17 (baseline) to 132±17 mmHg (follow-up) in the Valsartan group (p<0.001); from 146±13 to 125±14 mmHg in the Nebivolol group (p<0.001). The decrease in mean diastolic blood pressure (DBP) was 9.5±2.5 mmHg in the Valsartan group and 12.3±5.0 mmHg in the Nebivolol group. A significant reduction in QT and corrected QT (Bazett’s formula) dispersion was observed in both groups, with a slightly higher reduction in the Valsartan group. Echocardiography showed a decreasein the left ventricle mass (LVM) indices (p<0.05) in both groups with a greater reduction in the Valsartan group. Conclusion: Valsartan treatment was as effective as Nebivolol in reducing the 24 hour- SBP after a 6 month treatment. Nebivolol treatment proved to be superior to Valsartan in reducing DBP. Both therapies were effective in reducing the LVH; Valsartan proved to be superior to Nebivolol in reducing the QT interval indexes in relation to blood pressure and LVM reduction.
High regularity of the solution of a nonlinear parabolic boundary-value problem
Luminita Barbu,Gheorghe Morosanu,Wolfgang L. Wendland
Electronic Journal of Differential Equations , 2002,
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to report some results concerning high regularity of the solution of a nonlinear parabolic problem with a linear parabolic differential equation in one spatial dimension and nonlinear boundary conditions. We show that any regularity can be reached provided that appropriate smoothness of the data and compatibility assumptions are required.
Periphytic algae of the Gar?as Lake, Upper Paraná River floodplain: comparing the years 1994 and 2004

Brazilian Journal of Biology , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-69842009000300002
Abstract: the changes imposed by dams on hydrological regime, water transparence and nutrient concentrations downstream affect biodiversity in relation to species richness and specific composition of the community. the aim of this work was evaluate this effect on periphyton, comparing richness and composition of periphytic algae in the gar?as lake, upper paraná river floodplain, between the years 1994, before construction of the porto primavera reservoir, and after its operation in 2004. this floodplain lake showed an increase in species, from 113 in 1994 to 159 in 2004. a few species, however, were common during the last year, dominated by zygnemaphyceae and some bacillariophyceae species. the increase in algal diversity in 2004 may be the result of the ability of the system to adapt to environmental changes. however, the large change in the periphyton species composition suggests further impacts on the food web, demanding continuity of long-term studies in order to determine their consequences on the biodiversity as a whole.
Running of $\alpha_s$ in the MSSM with three-loop accuracy
Mihaila, Luminita
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007,
Abstract: The evolution of the strong coupling constant $\alpha_s$ from $M_Z$ to the GUT scale is presented, involving three-loop running and two-loop decoupling. Accordingly, the two-loop transition from the $\bar{\rm MS}$ to the $\bar{\rm DR}$ scheme is properly taken into account. We find that the three-loop effects are comparable to the experimental uncertainty for $\alpha_s$.

Finding Exception For Association Rules Via SQL Queries
Annals of Dunarea de Jos , 2000,
Abstract: Finding association rules is mainly based on generating larger and larger frequent set candidates, starting from frequent attributes in the database. The frequent sets can be organised as a part of a lattice of concepts according to the Formal Concept Analysis approach. Since the lattice construction is database contents-dependent, the pseudo-intents (see Formal Concept Analysis) are avoided. Association rules between concept intents (closed sets) A=>B are partial implication rules, meaning that there is some data supporting A and (not B); fully explaining the data requires finding exceptions for the association rules. The approach applies to Oracle databases, via SQL queries.

Abstract: The stage of political procedures and negotiations related to the statute of a new European company: European Private Company triggers the analysing of the main features of such a company and comparing them to those of the companies regulated in Romania and on other member states of the European Union. Therefore, we shall have a complete picture on the organic statute of this new company and, especially, on the divergent aspects, aspects having prevented the enactment of the Regulation regarding European Private Company (Societas Privata Europaea). And not least, it is the only way to determine the extent the new trading company contributes to exceed the current issues of business development in the European Union, in which extent the European private company shall represent or not a progress in the matter of European trading companies, where the main mark is represented by the European Company (Societas Europaea).
